Ryan graduated with a Masters in Film Production from Loyola Marymount University in 2003, while working for Technicolor in their sound department. While in Los Angeles he also worked for Edmonds Entertainment and THQ. In 2004 he switched from sound editing to video and began work with New Dominion Pictures. There he worked on shows for Discovery Channel such as the FBI Files and New Detectives until their demise in 2010. Since then he has worked for M2 Pictures and NASA and also works freelance for commercials, television and independent films. He is the editor/graphics/sound/producer for NASA EDGE, a video podcast that averages 2 million downloads per episode.
