Thurston Moore and Snail Mail’s Lindsey Jordan have teamed up for a new cover of Lou Reed’s “Satellite of Love.” Watch the performance below.
For the latest entry in Fender’s “Best of the Decades” ad series, the artists deliver a guitar-led version of the 1973 track, with Jordan’s chorused Vintera II ‘60s Stratocaster carrying the progression, and Moore’s Vintera II ‘70s Jaguar providing colorful accents over the top. Both clad in Reed-esque sunglasses, Jordan sings the majority of the tune, with Moore helping out for the “Harry, Mark, and John” lines.
For her part, Jordan keeps her performance rooted in the raw coolness of Reed’s usual vocal delivery, mostly hanging out around the bottom of her range. By the song’s outro (where Reed’s original presents a soundscape of backing vocals from David Bowie), Jordan opens up and lets out a few soaring melodic lines,...

Snail Mail is marking the second anniversary of her sophomore LP, Valentine, with the appropriately titled Valentine Demos EP, due out November 3rd. Ahead of the project’s release, she’s shared the previously unreleased song “Easy Thing,” which you can listen to below.
Lindsey Jordan looked back at the making of Valentine — released during the pandemic — in a statement. “Without further ado, here are the demo versions of some of the songs that would become integral to the making of Valentine,” she said.
“A little over three years ago, holed up at my parents’ house in Maryland, with just a minilogue synth, an interface, a mic, and a guitar, I started working on writing my second full length record. I prefer some of the demos to what actually came out on the record because of how intimate and solitary the process was. You can kind of hear me crying in one of them.

A24 and Fruit Tree Productions have added several new cast members for the upcoming thriller with the intriguing title of "I Saw the TV Glow." This project comes to us from writer and producer Jane Schoenbrun. If "Poltergeist" and "The Ring" made you fear your television and VHS player, you're going to find the synopsis intriguing. That goes double if you love horror television.
The cast isn't just populated with actors, but a bunch of musicians as well, including Fred Durst, indie artist Lindsey Jordan from Snail Mail, the band King Woman, and more.
If Fruit Tree Productions sounds familiar, it's the banner started by Academy Award-winner Emma Stone and Emmy-nominated writer-director Dave McCary in 2020.
The film has wrapped production already, though there has been no release date announcement yet. We'll keep you updated as that information becomes available.

“The Invitation,” in theaters later this week, is a retelling of the Dracula lore with a twist – instead of coming from the point-of-view of the count himself (played here by Thomas Doherty), it’s told through his brides. Specifically, Nathalie Emmanuel’s Evie, who is being courted to join his undead harem. Set in modern-day, it’s an exciting mixture of old and new, Gothic and modern.
TheWrap spoke to director Jessica M. Thompson, who told us about her journey with the film (which started out as a Sam Raimi production), what she watched for inspiration and combining styles and aesthetics for a new take on a classic story.
This movie was obviously a development for a long time, and it had different producers. What was your take on the material that finally got it into production?

Snail Mail, the project of singer-songwriter Lindsey Jordan, is bringing some newfound attention to the often-overlooked alternative rock group Superdrag with a cover of the band’s 2002 track “Feeling Like I Do” for Spotify Singles. The cover is also accompanied by a reworked version of “Headlock,” which appeared on Snail Mail’s critically acclaimed 2021 album, Valentine.
Keeping true to the original track’s post-grunge vibes with its multi-layered distorted guitar riffs, Jordan’s take on “Feeling Like I Do” offers a more tenderhearted, earnest approach to the unconventional love song.

Katie Crutchfield has always had a knack for noting subtle shifts in the weather. “I watch you anxiously/You paint it celestial, you paint it serene,” she sang over thrashing guitars on “Poison,” from 2015’s Ivy Tripp, making serenity sound like a death knell. On her latest album Saint Cloud, the 31-year-old songwriter trades in the indie-rock neurosis of her previous work for a mellower, twangy sound that nods towards her roots in Birmingham, Alabama. But her piercing observations have only grown sharper with time: “I have a gift, I’ve been told,...

He was in his twenties at the time, not long out of college and still years away from his current life as a highly respected singer-guitarist. If you build it, they will, apparently, rock. Even as guitar-based rock faded in the mainstream, an educational infrastructure teaching kids how to play it has flourished over the course of this century. Options range from the for-profit School of Rock chain (which existed prior to the Jack Black-helmed movie) to dozens of rock summer camps across the country, a lot of them aimed at girls — with Tegan and Sara, Haim and many others raising money for the Girls Rock Camp Foundation.
