Chicago – Is there any cinematic prize less prestigious than the Heartland Truly Moving Picture Award? Most of the films honored by this group tend to be simple-minded, cloying and thoroughly manipulative. Any group that names “The Blind Side” as “the best film of 2009” seriously needs its head examined. The Heartland award emblem gracing the DVD box of “Everybody’s Fine” is sure to scare off serious fans of its legendary lead actor.
That’s a shame, since this film contains the best performance from Robert De Niro in many years. It’s honest, richly nuanced and utterly heartbreaking. He never strikes a false note, even as the film takes one phony baloney turn after another. He should get an award simply for leaving the film with his dignity intact. While De Niro conveys depths of emotion with the subtlest nuances, director Kirk Jones loudly declares where he intends the viewer...

Today Miramax debuted an online trailer for family dramedy Everybody's Fine at Yahoo Movies. The flick stars Robert De Niro, Drew Barrymore, Kate Beckinsale, Sam Rockwell, and Lucian Maisel. De Niro plays a lonely widower who realizes that his only connection to his family was through his now-deceased wife, so he sets off on a road trip to reunite with each of his grown children.
It reminds us a little of Four Christmases, or maybe The Royal Tenenbaums.

This kind of reminds me of Four Christmases, which I did not like last year, but with a twist on the story (obviously). And I expect audiences will flock in droves to see this anyway. Watch the official trailer for Kirk Jones' Everybody's Fine: You can also watch the official trailer for Everybody's Fine in High Definition on Yahoo A widower (Robert De Niro) who realizes his only connection to...
