- Richard Owen Ransom is an American entrepreneur, law student, and entertainment professional. Ransom was born Richard Owen McDowell in Columbia City, Indiana, to Patsy Ann McDowell, an artist, and Earl Leon McDowell, a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He changed his last name to Ransom when he married Dawn Renee Ransom, taking her name. Rich was raised in New Haven, IN, and Fort Wayne, IN, respectively. He attended South Side High School for 3 years and graduated from Elmhurst High School in 1990. Rich graduated from Ashworth College with an AS in Paralegal Studies and a BS in Business Administration. He is enrolled currently at Concord Law School. Rich has also taken a lot of certificate courses and programs. Rich has had a lot of roles in his life. He worked in management/supervision for multiple businesses. He has worked as a postal employee, an advanced EMT, a professional photographer, a videographer, a director of music videos, a talent scout, a casting assistant, a production assistant, a talent agent and manager, a hypnotherapist, a legal assistant, owner/general manager of a Triple-A professional hockey franchise in the International Hockey League, and the owner of several restaurant concepts.
