This past weekend After Dark's Horrorfest 4 rolled out the red carpet for writer/director Brian Pulido's entry into the genre film fest, The Graves, at the Beverly Center.
On hand for the event was Pulido as well as Graves stars Bill Moseley, Jillian Murray, Clare Grant, and Shane Stevens. Dread Central's Heather Wixson was on the scene to capture all the excitement from the carpet.
Synopsis:
"In The Graves, two inseparable sisters, Megan (Grant) and Abby (Murray) Graves, are taking one last wild road trip before Megan has to start a new job. The journey includes a trip through remote Arizona in search of a kitschy roadside attraction. Instead, Megan and Abby happen on Skull City Mine, a weather-beaten, abandoned mine town converted into a self-guided tour. What seems like a fun day in the sun turns into a mind-bending fight for survival against menaces both human and supernatural.

The words and pictures just keep comin’ from the Graves camp; today we got ahold of the latest character/teaser poster (depicting Shane Stevens’ Jonah Lee Atwood), along with comments on the production from Nick Gallegos, the movie’s assistant editor and digital assets manager. You can see ’em all below.
Gallegos (pictured) was cinematographer Adam Goldfine’s right-hand man as they captured footage on the top-of-the-line Red One digital camera, and also worked alongside producers Dean and Brian Ronalds during the picture edit and Goldfine again for color correction. “I’ve been involved in this film from the first day of shooting in April 2008 all the way up to the film’s completion last month,” Gallegos tells us, adding that when it came to the Red One, “There was definitely a learning curve. There were several bugs and hiccups we had to work out during both production and postproduction.

Berm-Tech Industries and its staff of cubicle-dwelling vampires are once again open for business. Just out on DVD this week is Netherbeast Incorporated, the quirky horror/comedy feature debut of the Phoenix-based filmmaking team of Dean and Brian Ronalds.
Based on the brothers’ short film The Netherbeast Of Berm-tech Industries, Inc., produced in 2004 and a favorite on the festival circuit, the full-length adaptation (scripted, like the short, by Bruce Dellis) stars Darrell Hammond as the company boss who kills an employee with a stake through the heart, forgetting he’s a vampire himself. Steve Burns, Jason (The Tripper) Mewes and Dave (Postal) Foley play three of the undead employees, while Amy Davidson and Judd Nelson are two human outsiders who discover the company secret; Robert Wagner also appears (in a flashback) as President James Garfield. The movie enjoyed a limited theatrical run in the Phoenix area last fall ahead of...

Dean and Brian Ronalds had been making short films for a few years when they were handed a script to a three-minute flick called Netherbeast of Berm-Tech Industries. That short, written by Bruce Dellis, turned into a much longer script that the brothers decided would be their first feature film. Now, their horror comedy Netherbeast, Incorporated is getting a limited theatrical release beginning this weekend as well as a domestic DVD push later this year.
We sat down with the Ronalds Brothers last week as they were editing another film they're producing, The Graves, written and directed by comic book author Brian Pulido.
I remember talking to you guys about the short film years ago at the Phoenix Film Festival, and then I saw this movie about 18 months ago. So how long has Netherbeast been brewing?
Dean Ronalds: From making the short to this point in time, probably four years.

After a little bit of digging, the sick geniuses behind Netherbeast Incorporated (review), The Ronalds Brothers, have just handed me another scoop of dirt and this time it’s straight from The Graves!
Written and directed by comic book author Brian Pulido (Lady Death/Evil Ernie) The Graves was shot in May 2008 in Wickenberg, Arizona at the Vulture City abandoned gold mines. It stars Bill Moseley(Devils Rejects/House of a 1000 Corpses), Tony Todd (Candyman/The Rock), Amanda Wyss (Nightmare on Elm Street/Better Off Dead), Lamb of God’s front man D Randall Blythe, and newcomers Clare Grant (“Valerie Under the Stairs”) and Jillian Murray (Fun Park/Legacy).

The Ronalds brothers' associate producer and cousin Greg Seki wrangled the undead today at the Asu campus and launched an Undead Street Team promoting Netherbeast Incorporated's limited theatrical release opening at Harkins Valley Art on September 12, 2008.
Brian Ronalds served as producer/co-star while his brother Dean helmed as director/producer/editor in their undead office comedy starring Darrell Hammond ("SNL"), Judd Nelson (Breakfast Club/"Suddenly Susan"), Dave Foley ("Kids in the Hall/News Radio"), Jason Mewes (Clerks 1&2/Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back), Steve Burns ("Blue Clues"), Amy Davidson ("8 Simple Rules") and Robert Wagner (Austin Powers/"Hart to Hart").
