Since its debut in 2000, hundreds of castaways have played the game of “Survivor.” While many have been injured on CBS’s reality TV show, no one has ever died during filming. Sadly, several former players have passed away since leaving the island. In our “Survivor” deaths photo gallery above, we take a moment to remember all of the people who we’ve lost over the years, including most recently Sonja Christopher of Season 1 fame. Their torches will live on forever in our hearts.

Hollywood star Jake Gyllenhaal has sparked speculation regarding his alleged use of steroids to achieve his impressive physique in the 2024 action thriller, Road House. The film features him taking on the role of an ex-UFC fighter, Elwood Dalton, who starts working as a bouncer at Florida Key Road House in Miami. This is not the first instance the actor has portrayed such a role on-screen as he has earlier played the role of a boxer in the 2015 film Southpaw.

However, his shredded body transformation has people talking about potential steroid use for the same. And celebrity trainer Jeff Cavaliere debunked such claims in his recent YouTube video while reflecting on Gyllenhaal’s transformation for the role.

“Survivor 45” contestant Brandon ‘Brando’ Meyer has a clear vision of the type of player he wants to emulate in the game. The 23 year old software developer from Seattle is a true superfan so “no matter what happens at this point” he’s happy to just be a part of it. Watch their full CBS interview below.
Brando is aware that he’s playing in the “26 day fast-paced era,” so he’s had to think about what kind of game will be successful for him. His work as a software developer will help him be aware of “every detail and making sure nothing gets by [him].” But as a superfan, of course Brando has a “Survivor bucket list” of things he wants to accomplish in the game. He says that one of those things is “having a Survivor pizza.”

The 44th season of Survivor premiered on March 1st, captivating fans and making it one of the longest-running reality TV shows. Since 2000, Survivor has been a popular American reality TV competition on CBS with Jeff Probst as the host. It features contestants deserted on a remote island, to avoid elimination, must engage in challenges (both mental and physical) to gain rewards and immunity. In each episode, participants are voted off the island until only one wins the grand prize and becomes the “Sole Survivor.”

With over 43 seasons of Survivor, it’s difficult to choose which ones stand out the most. There have been numerous entertaining seasons full of impressive gameplay, dynamic casts, and shocking Tribal Councils that have left us with our jaws on the floor. But we’ve narrowed the list of all-time great seasons to five must-sees for any Survivor fan.
Jeff Probst | Photo: Robert Voets/CBS 5. ‘Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X’
Including Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X on our list of the top five Survivor seasons might be a controversial pick, but we wholeheartedly stand by it.
Adam Klein is one of the most underrated winners (aside from Vecepia Towery). After all, he is one of five castaways to win the show unanimously, and he played a smart (yet chaotic at times) strategic and social game. “Sunday Burquest had one of the brightest smiles of any person to ever play ‘Survivor,'” tweeted Jeff Probst following the recent death of the fan-fave castaway from “Millennials vs. Gen X.” Sunday, age 50, passed away on April 18 after a year-long battle with esophageal and ovarian cancer. The “Survivor” host continued, “She radiated kindness and understanding. She seemed to understand better than most, that life is for living, so say yes to life whenever possible. My condolences go out to her family and friends.”

The attorney for Kyle Rittenhouse, a 17-year-old gunman accused of killing two protesters in August in Kenosha, Wis., said actor Ricky Schroder was among those who helped the teen post $2 million bail for his release on Friday.
Attorney Lin Wood took to Twitter on Friday to announce Rittenhouse’s release, giving a shoutout to Schroder for his donation.
“God bless all who donated to help #FightBack raise required $2M cash bail,” wrote Wood. “Special thanks to actor Ricky Schroder and [My Pillow CEO] Mike Lindell for putting us over the top. Kyle is safe. Thanks to all who helped this boy.”

“Survivor” superfans are currently hyped for the upcoming all-winners season, but it’s not always the case that the most popular contestant of the season is the one who wins. In fact, the audience tends to fall in love with those who just come up short of the $1 million prize, often more so than the champion. Players like Rupert Boneham, Cirie Fields and Joe Anglim will probably never win “Survivor,” no matter how many times they come back and try. Their likability is a double-edged sword — they’re genial enough to be safe through several Tribal Councils but once it gets toward the end, they’re too big of a jury threat to win. As we prepare for “Survivor: Winners at War,” here’s the ranking of our 16 favorite lovable losers we hoped would make it onto an all-winner season someday.

Hey, "American Ninja Warrior" fans. Tonight, August 26, 2019, the first round of the Las Vegas National Finals did indeed air. In this round, the contestants had to take on an obstacle course that featured: Archer Alley, Spin Your Wheels, Double Dipper, Jumping Spider, Tire Run, Warped Wall, Diving Boards and Twist and Fly in that order. They were given 2:30 to complete it. Michelle Warnky was up first, and she got taken out by the Spin Your Wheels part of the obstacle course. It spun her all over the place before she landed in the water. Next, Kevin Bull got taken out by the Twist and Fly after missing the transfer to the second set of handles. Flip Rodriguez fell off on the Diving Boards. However, he did have a safety pass. Danell Leyva turned up next. He's an Olympic gymnast. He ended up falling while trying to grab the cargo...

With the dust now settled on “Survivor: Edge of Extinction,” it’s time to assess where Season 38 fits into the legacy of the long-running reality series. The Extinction Island twist was divisive from the start and those who didn’t care for it were enraged to see Chris Underwood, booted on Day 8, return a month later and win after having barely played the active game. Others liked how Extinction Island offered a second chance to players like Rick Devens, who certainly made the most of his return to the game. Vote in the poll below for where “Survivor: Edge of Extinction” places in your overall season rankings.

In recent years the “Survivor” reunion show has slowly been snuffed out before our eyes, with last week’s live “Edge of Extinction” chatfest running for less than 30 minutes. That’s a far cry from the early years of the reality TV show when finale night would conclude with a full one-hour reunion following the two-hour final episode. According to our recent poll, viewers are nearly unanimous that they want “Survivor” to bring back the hour-long reunion show, with 89% voting yes and 11% voting no. Do you agree or disagree with those poll results? Sound off down in the comments section.

The clue was there all along. We “Survivor” fans should have known better. When Extinction Island dweller Chris Underwood (see above) got what I like to call “The Little Mermaid” edit on Season 38’s penultimate episode as he was seen fetchingly perched on a rock while surrounded by water as he read the letter of encouragement he wrote to himself, the jig was up.
The district sales manager from South Carolina had all ready won, despite being the third castaway voted off and only participating in the game for 13 days. Meanwhile, the puckishly amusing TV anchor man from Georgia Rick Devens, the first Extinction returnee who seemed to find an immunity idol every 2 minutes and crushed many an individual immunity challenge, let his guard down and allowed Chris to take control of events.

There are those “Survivor” fans whose dream is to compete in the game one day. Then there are those who, like me, would be satisfied to simply attend the taping of live portion of the finale and gawk at the players that they have been watching for weeks. Well, I can now cross that off my bucket list. I was part of the audience who participated in the three-hour wrap-up of Season 38, aka “Edge of Extinction.”
By now, you probably know that former Extinction Island dweller Chris Underwood somehow managed to win the title of Sole Survivor away from the favorite to take it all, idol-magnet Rick Devens, after only playing only 13 days. Controversial doesn’t even cover that outcome.
But that decision couldn’t spoil my opportunity to gaze upon such fan favorites as the season’s returning veteran players — Joe Anglim, Aubry Bracco, Kelley Wentworth and David Wright.

Remember when the “Survivor” reunion show was a full hour? Ahh, those were the days. The post-finale reunion used to be a place for the players to air their grievances, recall their favorite moments and get emotional about their time on the island with host Jeff Probst. After 39 days of outwitting, outplaying and outlasting, “Survivor” named the winner of its 38th season on Wednesday, May 15 during the three-hour finale event. (Read our minute-by-minute recap to see how it all went down.) The episode began with a monumental battle between the 11 voted-out castaways competing for a second chance at the million dollar prize, with 25-year-old salesman Chris Underwood prevailing. Chris then did the truly unthinkable by making it all the way to the final tribal council where the jury of 13 voted for him to win in a 9-4-0 vote over runner-up Gavin Whitson and third place finisher Julie Rosenberg. Did the right person win “Survivor: Edge of Extinction”? Vote in our poll below.

‘Survivor: Edge of Extinction’: 4 reasons why Lauren O’Connell can and should be named sole survivor
As of now, 21-year-old Lauren O’Connell trails 33-year-old Rick Devens in our overall odds to win “Survivor: Edge of Extinction.” Rick was the 4th player voted out of the game, in part by Lauren herself, but returned from Extinction Island shortly after and has been struggling to find his footing within a solid alliance ever since. He leads our odds to win with 10/9 favorability, but is followed closely behind by Lauren with 27/10 odds of her own.
In all, we don’t know where exactly Lauren’s placement will fall–she actually leads none of our finale predictions! She ranks behind Gavin Whitson (21/10) in predictions to take 2nd place with 43/20 odds, fourth in predictions to take 3rd place with 19/2 odds, third in predictions to take 4th place with 5/1 odds, fifth in predictions to take 5th place with 13/1 odds and is at 100/1 odds to take 6th place.
So what is Lauren’s fate in the game?...

The “Survivor: Edge of Extinction” finale is upon us, and we officially have the largest number of players heading into the final episode who could still win the game in “Survivor” history: 16. There are five players left in the active game while 11 lie in wait in Extinction Island, ready to compete for a chance to get back in. So how can we predict who wins this season? Looking at the edit of each player gives us some clues about who producers are setting up as a satisfying winner to the audience. While those currently in the game have a better shot, through the sheer act of surviving so many Tribal Councils, even those who were sent to Extinction Island could have a viable path to victory.
Below is our final “winner’s edit” ranking of the season, combining screen time, confessionals, their individual paths to a win, and trends with past winners.

Are you ready for “the most unpredictable ‘Survivor’ finale ever”? Well, you better be, because that’s exactly how CBS is promoting its three-hour finale event on Wednesday, May 15. In the latest preview trailer (watch above), the only castaway who gets any major screen time is, of course, Rick Devens, the fan-favorite underdog who has an uphill climb to make it to the final tribal council. “I’m so excited!” Rick shouts about making it to the Final 5. “This is a million dollars. I’m trying everything I can.”
SEERick Devens deserves to win ‘Survivor: Edge of Extinction,’ but the odds are stacked against him
Also in the promo video, the 11 voted-out castaways are seen competing for their shot at returning to the game. They are: Reem Daly, Chris Underwood, Aubry Bracco, Joe Anglim, Eric Hafemann, Julia Carter, David Wright, Kelley Wentworth, Dan “Wardog” DaSilva, Ron Clark and last week’s eliminated player Aurora McCreary.

Aurora McCreary really, really wanted to be taken on the helicopter/resort reward in the 13th episode of “Survivor: Edge of Extinction,” but challenge winner Gavin Whitson instead invited along Victoria Baamonde and Lauren O’Connell. Back at camp, a disappointed Aurora tried to distract herself by soaking up some rays on the beach when the threesome literally flew overhead in the helicopter. While the episode didn’t show Aurora’s perspective of this memorable encounter, CBS has now released a deleted scene revealing just that. Watch the video above.

In the penultimate episode of “Survivor: Edge of Extinction,” the near-unanimous plan was to vote out Rick Devens, but he ruined their easy vote when he won the immunity challenge. The castaways then set their sights on Julie Rosenberg, but Rick bluffed at tribal council that he was going to use his hidden idol on Julie, so Plan C was enacted. That’s when Aurora McCreary was voted out. “It was so predictable” that Rick was bluffing, Aurora proclaimed in her exit interview at the end of the 13th episode. “I can’t understand how anyone fell for that.”

With only two episodes to go, “Survivor: Edge of Extinction” is down to the Final 6 (or 7 if we’re counting on another return). With jury-favorite-apparent Rick Devens as the universal target to eliminate next, other Top 6ers Lauren O’Connell, Victoria Baamonde, Gavin Whitson, Aurora McCreary and Julie Rosenberg head in to the final stretch of the game with only a small target on their own backs. That leaves the door wide open for anyone–including Rick, if he can win some immunities–to carve their path to the win, but it will take a tight and small alliance to make that happen.

“I took my eye off the prize,” confessed Ron Clark after being voted out of “Survivor: Edge of Extinction” during a memorable tribal council in which two advantages (a hidden idol and an extra vote) were played. Ron had concocted a diabolical plan in which he gifted his expired advantage menu to Rick Devens, hoping that it would convince him to trust him. Unfortunately for Ron, Rick later found a real immunity idol that ended up saving him from elimination. Scroll down to see Ron’s full “Survivor” exit interview from Season 38, Episode 12.

After being voted out of the 11th episode of “Survivor: Edge of Extinction,” Dan “Wardog” DaSilva made the easy decision to take the torch and head to Extinction Island where he’ll soon have a chance of re-entering the game. Even though he was betrayed by new alliance member Ron Clark, Wardog explained in his exit interview at the end of the show that he had no hard feelings. “Ultimately it came down to Ron tonight. Ron did well, because I would have voted me out too,” Wardog readily admitted.

Following last week’s double eliminations of David Wright and Kelley Wentworth on “Survivor: Edge of Extinction,” only eight players still remained on the Vata tribe: Dan “Wardog” DaSilva, Victoria Baamonde, Ron Clark, Lauren O’Connell, Julie Rosenberg, Gavin Whitson, Aurora McCreary and Rick Devens. Did Wardog continue calling the shots at camp this week, or were the outcasts smart enough to come together to remove him from his throne?

“Survivor” is getting down to the nitty-gritty as only eight players remain in the proper game. After a post-merge of the Kama alliance getting picked off one by one, the Manu-turned-Lesu tribe finally lost some players last week and big ones, too — the exit of David Wright and Kelley Wentworth means there are no more returning players in the game. Looking at the edit, the Final 8 have had varying degrees of screen time through the first 10 hours of this season and we now have a pretty good sense of who probably won’t make it to the end and who has a plausible winner’s edit.
Meanwhile, another eight castaways are on Extinction Island getting ready to fight for a chance to get back into the game. It remains to be seen if one of those booted players can make it back in and somehow win the season, but for now,...

Will the next winner of “Survivor” be a 21-year-old college student from Waco, Texas?
According to Gold Derby’s “Edge of Extinction” racetrack odds, Lauren O’Connell is far ahead of the pack with leading 9/2 odds to win the $1 million check. It’s a huge show of support for the castaway who’s been on the bottom for most of the game — both physically and mentally. However, with a hidden immunity idol still in her pocket and the fact that she’s no longer tethered to huge targets like Kelley Wentworth (who was eliminated) and Dan “Wardog” DaSilva (who betrayed her), might Lauren sneak her way into the winner’s circle?

Apparently, “Survivor” loyalists still think Joey is amazing.
Of the four veteran players who find themselves in limbo on Extinction Island on Season 38, 42% of the reality show’s fans believe Joe Anglim is the likeliest returning castaway who could re-enter the game. It makes sense, since he is a beast at challenges and he will likely have to win one to before being allowed back in.
That is what newbie Rick Devens had to do in order to re-join the players on the main island after the tribes merged. But these well-liked experienced “Survivors” basically had targets on their backs from the moment they landed on the beach — which is how each of the quartet got blindsided during tribal council.

They knew what they were getting into. They figured they would have huge targets on their backs. But the quartet of returning “Survivor” veterans — Aubry Bracco, Joe Anglim, David Wright and Kelley Wentworth — too often let their guard down when it came to the other less-experienced players, who have blindsided all four of them at tribal council after the 10th episode of Season 38.

After last week’s shocking “Survivor: Edge of Extinction” tribal council in which the entire Vata tribe imploded on itself, only 10 castaways remained in the hunt for the $1 million prize. They are former Kama allies Victoria Baamonde, Ron Clark, Aurora McCreary, Julie Rosenberg and Gavin Whitson, and Manu/Lesu tribe mates Dan “Wardog” DaSilva, Rick Devens, Lauren O’Connell, Kelley Wentworth and David Wright. So which Two castaways ended up being voted out across a pair of tribal councils in Wednesday’s 10th episode?

With 10 people left in the proper “Survivor: Edge of Extinction” game, it’s time to check in on who is emerging as a threat to win the season. After a highly successful pre-merge, the original Kama tribe has been steadily bleeding members post-merge, including Joe Anglim, Eric Hafemann and Julia Carter. The tables have certainly turned as the unlucky original Manu tribe that became Lesu now finds itself in a power position. Should any of that group get to the end, they certainly have a compelling story to tell the jury about surviving the early hardships and a seemingly unbeatable Kama tribe.
Looking at the edit, each of those Lesu members is well-defined and we know their personal story and strategic acumen. The same cannot be said for much of the Kama tribe, though there are some notable exceptions. Here are the Top 5 “Survivor” 38 contestants we think have the best...

If you thought last week was crazy, you ain’t seen nothing yet. In CBS’s preview trailer for the 10th episode of “Survivor: Edge of Extinction” (watch above), it’s revealed that two castaways will be voted out in two separate tribal councils. With 10 players remaining in the game, it’s anyone’s guess what might happen over the course of this “epic hour,” but Gold Derby’s racetrack odds currently predict that immunity idol buddies Kelley Wentworth and Lauren O’Connell are the most in danger of being sent to Extinction Island.

Following one of the liveliest and most frantic tribal councils in series history, “Survivor: Edge of Extinction” has become incredibly unpredictable. A few weeks ago it looked like the original Kama alliance was going to bulldoze through the entire competition, but then they cracked and now they’re demolished. After losing five of their numbers in the first five weeks, the original Manu tribe has somehow remained in the game to this point where they match the original Kama in a 5-5 split. But that isn’t saying much considering how fractured both sides are. Inside the group of 10 are four power pairs, closely aligned to one another, but with relationships to the other pairs so strained that there’s no telling how they’ll combine to decide the next vote.
With Wardog and Aurora floating around in the middle, the table is set for another wild scramble among the power pairs.

On the ninth episode of the 38th season of “Survivor,” host Jeff Probst dubbed the tribal council as one of the “craziest” ever as the remaining 11 castaways revealed secrets and shifted alliances in front of the cameras as paranoia and confusion reigned. That is until the majority decided to vote out Julia Carter, after her giggle outburst and acknowledgement that she was in league with veteran player Kelley Wentworth — maybe. Also not helping? Her shouting, “Shut up, Wardog!”
But I was less intrigued by the actual vote than returnee David Wright‘s new analogy about whether a player is a leader making big moves or a follower that will eventually be targeted. On the previous episode, David suggested that everyone has to decide if they want to be a pilot or a passenger in the game — with the pilots being winners.

“Tribal council was a mess!” Those were the first words Julia Carter said after being voted out of the ninth episode of “Survivor: Edge of Extinction.” Julia wasn’t exaggerating. The two-act tribal council was one of the “craziest” of all time, with all 11 remaining players scrambling around and huddling up in what was described by one castaway as a “live” tribal. In the end, Julia received a whopping nine votes, with the other two votes going to Kelley Wentworth (Julia’s vote) and David Wright (Aurora McCreary‘s vote).

The brick wall Kama alliance took a tumble on “Survivor: Edge of Extinction” this week, upending what was beginning to look like a straight shot to the final tribal council for would-be frontrunners Eric Hafemann and Ron Clark. Eric was sent to Extinction Island by members of his own alliance and Ron, Julie Rosenberg and Rick Devens were left to pick up the pieces. The move benefited most Lauren O’Connell and Kelley Wentworth who have been the de factor targets for the last few weeks.

“Survivor: Edge of Extinction” has definitely changed the course of the long-running reality show’s history. With two sets of castaways in different locations and varied rules, it is hard to keep track of everyone’s status let alone all the advantages, disadvantages and, especially, the all-important immunity idols. Even on a season with one locale, it can be hard to keep track — as Cirie Fields found out on “Survivor: Game Changers” after she realized that she was the only player at tribal council who didn’t have a helpful advantage in their pocket. And she had played on three other seasons previously.
