Hank Braxtan has given us a genetically altered polar bear in Unnatural, a giant urban serpent in Snake Outta Compton and a dragon in Dragon Soldiers. And now he delivers the dinosaurs in his latest film, Jurassic Hunt. I wonder what took him so long?
A group of hunters, including Parker (Courtney Loggins; Give My Love To Rose), Valentine (Tarkan Dospil; 4 Minutes), Torres and African poacher and warlord Blackhawk, has been flown into a remote and hidden location. They’re there to hunt the biggest game of all, dinosaurs. Lindon manager of Jurassic Hunt welcomes them, gives them their choice of weapons and tags them all with a tracking device, “Just in case”.
However, something has gone very wrong. On their first night in the park,...

"This doesn't end until we're all dead!" Good! Lionsgate has released a trailer for a so-bad-you-have-to-see-this movie called Jurassic Hunt, which is surprisingly not a movie from The Asylum though it definitely looks like it. The world's most dangerous soldiers, mercenaries and big-game hunters arrive at a mysterious hunting reserve to hunt the deadliest game of all. When dinosaurs kill the tour guides in a wilderness park, the surviving trophy hunters must work together to evade the giant human-hungry ancient creatures and all the mercenaries hired to finish them off. This stars Courtney Loggins, Ruben Pla, Joston Theney, Motown Maurice, and Tarkan Dospil. The only way this can be good is if the dinosaurs eat every last one of them. Surprise, surprise, there's barely three shots of awful CGI dinos in the trailer. Don't watch this. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Hank Braxtan's Jurassic Hunt, direct from Lionsgate's...

Fear…the most primal of human emotions. Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolfman… The Exorcist, Jaws, Alien. What made the creators of these films dream up the nightmares that kept us up at night? Were they as strange and twisted as their creations? And what about today’s creators of horror? Who are the minds behind the macabre of present day?
That’s the question posed by The Horror Crowd, a new revealing, intimate documentary from veteran actor insider Ruben Pla, which puts a spotlight on the dedicated nightmare-creators that form Hollywood’s horror community. Covering wide-ranging topics such as ‘Being the Weird Kid’, ‘Women in Horror’, ‘Race Relations’, ‘The Dark Side’ and ‘Film Festivals’, this fascinating insight into horror filmmaking and the movie industry features contributions from some of horror’s most innovative and renowned creators such as Oren Peli, Russell Mulcahy, Lin Shaye, Adam Robitel, Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II), and Ernest R. Dickerson.

You can practically hear the pitch meeting roaring off the screen: “It’s ‘Snakes on a Plane’ meets ‘Straight Outta Compton,’ with a generous dash of ‘Sharknado,’ just for added bite!” Such is the premise and tone of Hank Braxtan’s upcoming “Snake Outta Compton.” From the looks of its first trailer, it appears that that comedy is going to deliver on that promise, no matter if it was a good idea or not.
The film follows a scrappy young rap group on the verge of making it — they’re just days away from signing a major record deal, presumably one that will rocket them into the big time — who unexpectedly run afoul of another Compton resident: a massive mutated snake who will not stop growing after a homespun experiment gone totally awry, and apparently has quite a bad attitude to boot. If you’re going to make a massive mutated snake,...

Snake Outta Compton... after watching this ridiculously bonkers trailer, I'm not really quite sure what to say. You'll just have to experience the trailer for yourself and enjoy the insanity. The crazy thing is, I'm not actually surprised that this movie exists. We've been seeing some really weird shit lately.
The story follows a rap group on the verge of signing their first record deal. Obviously, this rap group is Compton's only hope in a battle against a giant mutating snake monster, that was created by some local Urkel-like teen nerd.
This movie was directed by Hank Braxtan and as you'll see, it spoofs films like Training Day, Snake on a Plane and Straight Outta Compton. The movie looks completely absurd, but there's an audience out there that's going to love it.

Automatic Entertainment have released of the first trailer for their upcoming film, Snake Outta Compton. The movie is a satire of creature features, urban gangster films, and hip hop culture, from director Hank Braxtan (Chemical Peel) and producers the Kondelik Brothers (Airplane vs. Volcano, All Hallows Eve 2)
Snake Outta Compton sees a rap group on the verge of signing their first record deal forced to battle a giant mutating snake monster that’s terrorizing the streets of Compton… And this isnt a film from The Asylum? Colour me shocked!
Said Automatic Entertainment:
Collaborating with Hank Braxtan and the Kondelik brothers to turn Snake Outta Compton from a ridiculous idea into a reality has been remarkable. This talented group of filmmakers are a joy to work with and their creativity exceeded our expectations for what this film could be and we are excited to finally share it.

Hollywood may have hit peak genre mashup with Snake Outta Compton.
Heat Vision is debuting the first trailer for the film, which centers on a rap group about to sign its first big record deal just as a science experiment gone wrong threatens the city of Compton.
A quick look at the trailer reveals a lot going on — there's a little bit of Training Day, Snake on a Plane and Straight Outta Compton — plus a thick-glasses-wearing nerd-turned-monster creator whose style may seem familiar to '90s kids.
Hank Braxtan directs the project, which he wrote with Tim Johnson and brothers James...

A number of killer bear films have been released or releasing this year. From Into the Grizzly Maze (2015) to Backcountry (2015), Grizzlies are hungry for man and beast. The latest killer bear film is titled Unnatural. The first trailer for this film was posted on 28Dla in early May. Now, the film has been picked up to participate in After Dark Film's 8 Films to Die For. As well, the film stars James Remar ("Dexter"), Sherilyn Fenn (Rude Awakening) and Graham Greene. To gear horror fans up for Halloween, the film will show in several cities on October 16th, 2015. Fans of killer films can view the official trailer for Unnatural below.

Unnatural is a creature feature from director Hank Braxton (Chemical Peel). The film deals with a genetically altered polar bear, who now has a penchant for human flesh. The film stars Allegra Carpenter (Argo), Sherilyn Fenn and James Remar. The film's first trailer is hosted here. The story takes place in Alaska. Here, a group of photographers and models are warned of a man-eating bear. Their warnings go unheeded. And soon, giant mandibles are tearing through flesh. This relentless eating machine will not be stopped, until local guides can intervene. The trailer shows more of the film's story. Characters disappear beneath the ice, or their body parts are strewn across the local forest. Also, the bear has little fear of human, nor of buildings. It trespasses wherever a human meal can be found. The full trailer for Unnatural can be found below. Director: Hank Braxtan. Writers: Ron Carlson and Arch Stanton.

*full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by the filmmakers. **there are minor spoilers here. Director: Hank Braxtan. Writers: Dan Sinclair, Hank Braxtan, Arielle Brachfeld, and Natalie Victoria. Cast: Natalie Victoria, Arielle Brachfeld, Stephanie Greco and Lacy Fisher. Chemical Peel is a smallish horror feature. This title was released earlier in the year (Oct. 14th, 2014), through Lions Gate Entertainment. A film about a toxic chemical spill, Chemical Peel spends most of its ninety-five minute runtime with bickering characters. Several so-called friends, at a bachelorette party, are more toxic than the mist outside. Shot almost entirely inside one location, the film is an exercise in what not to do in a catastrophe. Characters act in cowardly and idiotic ways, which makes Chemical Peel a difficult watch. A group of girls gather for a night of drinking and celebrating. Fifteen minutes into the story, it is finally revealed that the girls have come together.

It wasn’t too long ago that an independent filmmaker named Eli Roth made waves with a biological horror film called Cabin Fever, infecting a group of friends with a devastating waterborne disease. In many ways, director Hank Braxtan appears to be searching for the same gory success with his new movie Chemical Peel, a bodily horror film that opts for an airborne toxin with nasty side effects if inhaled for too long. Where Roth excelled at building a strong cast and squeamish gore, Braxtan fails to achieve the same level of success while working with hammed up characters, some pretty atrocious dialogue and plot holes galore. Braxtan’s eco-horror scenario is a lot like living in Mexico, except in addition to not drinking the water, you can’t breathe the air or eat most food, either.

It seemed rather fitting that we hit the set of writer, director and producer Thomas J. Churchill’s ambitious zombie feature Lazarus on Easter Sunday, and we’re glad we did.
Battling the throngs of Sunday worshippers who’d clogged Los Angeles’ concrete arteries for Hollywood Bowl’s Easter Mass, we made our way to Tarzana, CA, where filmmaker Churchill had set up shop at Waggin’ Tails Lounge, a dog grooming facility owned by his cousin, Kathie Fiorillo. Shooting day twelve of thirteen on the Canon 5D, Churchill was prepping a scene which would feature the re-animation of the dead, and while it may be poised to enter the already bloated sub-genre of independent zombie cinema, readers, do please take note: Lazarus seems to be hell-bent on offering an entirely fresh take.
Set in Hollywood 1957, Lazarus revolves around the character of George Lazarus (Ray Capuana), an insurance investigator who schedules...

We’ve been delivering you the goods on director Hank Braxtan’s feature Chemical Peel for some time. Now we bring you the first look at a trailer for the flick, which is described as a cross between Cabin Fever and The Mist.
Starring DeadHeads actress Natalie Victoria, Chemical Peel revolves around a group of girls trapped in a remote cabin by an unknown danger which lurks outside (and inside as well, if the trailer is any indication) and, in addition to Victoria, features newcomers Arielle Brachfeld, Stephanie Greco, Lacy Fisher and Leigh Davis, with Lonye Perrine rounding out the female ensemble cast. 17 Road Films produces.
“Chemical Peel is "picture locked", going through score, sound mix, VFX, and color correction,” director Braxtan told us of post-production on the flick. “We are hoping to be done in time to submit to some big festivals, and then it's off to various distributors which I have contacts with.

A couple of clicks away on the web are scores of films made by fans – by turns hilarious, ingenious and ambitious. Lurking among their makers might be Hollywood's next generation.
Many still regard them as flatulent waste products of the socially deficient unemployed-layabout community. In most cases, they're pretty much right. But it looks increasingly likely that some of the amateur fan films that pervade YouTube and other online broadcasters will one day be cherished by movie-lovers as the formative works of the next generation of cutting-edge film-makers.
The idea of the fan film – an amateur, not-for-profit work inspired by a commercial movie, TV show or comic book – isn't new. Even before science fiction conventions in the 1970s began to provide sizeable audiences for homemade homages to much-loved sci-fi/fantasy franchises, teenage movie geeks such as Hugh Hefner and Batman fan Andy Warhol were finding their film-making feet making short...
