Boston Red Sox owner John Henry tells TMZ Sports ... he's got No Grudge against Johnny Damon for leaving the team for the Yanks back in 2005 ... despite Johnny suggesting there was lingering beef between the two. As we previously reported, Damon told Donald Trump he didn't hit up Henry for a donation during a fundraising task on this week's "Celebrity Apprentice" because they weren't exactly on speaking terms after the whole contract situation from '05. But...

It's been nearly a decade since the break-up, but it seems like still some bad blood between Johnny Damon and Boston Red Sox owner John Henry ... with Johnny saying they're still not on speaking terms. Damon shed some light on the situation on last night's "Celebrity Apprentice" -- when Donald Trump asked why Damon didn't try to ask Henry for money during a fundraising competition. Long story short ... Damon says he's not sure they still...

We have already seen the first trailer for the upcoming Jackie Robinson biopic, 42, a film which (as with all the best sport-themed films) is about so much more than the sport in question, in this case baseball as a context for an examination of race relations and civil rights, as Jackie Robinson tries to break the colour barrier in Major League Baseball. You can see what we made of it right here.
The World Series is now upon us, with Game 1 between the Boston Red Sox and the St Louis Cardinals kicking off on Wednesday night at the rightly iconic Fenway Park, though it tends to go unnoticed in much of the said world and in fact baseball in general is for the most part much-derided in the UK as overblown rounders. Whatever much of the world outside of the Us might think (or not care) about baseball, the truth...

The New York Times Company has finally sold off its Boston Globe title -- to local investor John Henry, owner of the Boston Red Sox, it was announced on Friday. Henry paid $70 million in cash for the New England Media Group, which also includes the Worcester Telegram-Gazette. Henry was one of several bidders for the title, which Nyt acquired in 1993 for $1.1 billion. Needless to say, its value has since declined sharply -- as has its circulation. Under the terms of the sale, Nyt reported, Henry will not have...

Sox owner John Henry and his wife Linda have decided to back Lucky Them, an indie about a music writer searching for her ex-boyfriend. She's on assignment but willing to track him down for the story, whatever lingering hard feelings might still be there. The picture was being produced by the late great Paul Newman, but after his death, longtime beloved wife Joanne Woodward stepped in. She.s already tapped Alec Baldwin, Marisa Tomei, Thomas Haden Church and Allison Janney to star, and production should begin before the year.s end. No word on who might play what, but once principal photography begins, these details should emerge. Almost one hundred years ago, former Boston Red Sox owner Harry Frazee sold baseball legend Babe Ruth to the hated Yankees to finance a Broadway play called My Lady Friends or No No Nanette, depending on which of the many urban legends you...

Marisa Tomei, Thomas Haden Church, Alec Baldwin and Allison Janney are set for the leads in the upcoming indie film Lucky Them, according to Variety. The film is co-written and directed by Huck Botko (writer of The Last Exorcism and writer/director of The Virginity Hit). The story follows a “rock music journo assigned to track down her ex-boyfriend.” So far we don't know any specifics about the cast, but it's most likely that Tomei will play the journalist.
The film is being funded by John Henry, owner of the Boston Red Sox and his wife Linda Pizzuti Henry, and was the last producing project for Paul Newman before his death. Newman's wife, Joanne Woodward, has taken over as executive producer and production is expected to begin later this year.

It’s a good sign for any project, big or small, when it builds up an impressive cast before a lot of movement happens in terms of any development. Such is the case for the upcoming indie film Lucky Them, which Variety says has pulled in Marisa Tomei, Thomas Haden Church, Alec Baldwin and Allison Janney for its leads.
The film, co-written and directed by The Last Exorcism writer and The Virginity Hit writer/director Huck Botko, follows a “rock music journo assigned to track down her ex-boyfriend.” None of the cast members have been specified, although it’s not that out there to assume Tomei is the journalist. Still, even that’s just a guess.

For integrating new tech like a startup. Sure, it's a behemoth, with a staggering 107 million weekly fans across seven cable networks, a magazine, radio network, podcasts, and various sites. But the brilliance of Espn is that it constantly finds new and richer ways to experience and understand sports on all those platforms. Espn 3D, the first 3-D TV network, went 24/7 in February. Espnu College Town, which debuted last September, is the No. 2 sports app on Facebook. And the "30 for 30" documentary series was absorbing, must-watch TV.
