The alien invasion comedy Hillbillies vs. Alien Chickens has taken home the top prize in this year’s Horror2Comic Contest.
The script from Nicholas Tana is described as a twist on the alien invasion genre, and centers on a vegan hillbilly who must team with a government agent to combat invading alien chickens.
Winning scripts in the Horror2Comic contest are made into comic books, and in turn are put into development as a feature or a TV show via Motor Content, the company whose credits include History’s Knightfall and the Michael Keaton feature The Founder. The contest has its origins as an offshoot of Script2Comic, which focuses on all genres, not just horror.
Scout Comics published last year’s Horror2Comic winner, She Bites, a story centering on a 134-year-old vampire trapped in the body of a 9-year-old girl.

Thirteen years after playing serial killer Leena Klammer (a.k.a. Esther) in the horror thriller Orphan, Isabelle Fuhrman has reprised the role in the prequel Orphan: First Kill (read our review Here) – which was released through the Paramount+ streaming service last Friday. Orphan: First Kill was also given a 498 screen theatrical release in the United States, and earned 1,675,000 over the weekend – a decent haul for that number of screens. So there was clearly an interest in seeing Fuhrman play Esther again. And during an interview with Variety, Fuhrman confirmed that she would be willing to come back for an Orphan 3 if it gets made.
Leena Klammer / Esther is an adult who was able to pass herself off as a 9 year old kid in the first Orphan. Looking 9 was easy for Fuhrman at the time because she was a child when she made that movie… but some trickery had to...

Over a decade later and “The Orphan” has been adopted for a prequel.
The 2009 horror film starred Isabelle Fuhrman as the titular sociopathic orphan Leena, who set out to torture a family and seduce her adoptive father after escaping an orphanage. While everyone thought Leena was nine years old, it turned out she was secretly a 33-year-old woman with a medical condition that made her look like a child. And yes, the movie is as amazing as it sounds.
Now, Leena finally gets her origin story thanks to the upcoming prequel film “Orphan: First Kill.” It’s directed by William Brent Bell (“The Boy”) from a script by David Coggeshall. The film hits theaters, digital, and streaming on Paramount+ on August 19.
“First Kill” returns its focus to Leena, with original actress Fuhrman reprising her role. “Following an escape from an Estonian psychiatric facility, Leena comes to America by impersonating the...

One of the most iconic horror movie villains of the 21st century is back on screens again. Paramount has released the first trailer for “Orphan: First Kill,” the long awaited follow-up to the cult-classic horror original. The movie will release in theaters and stream on Paramount+ starting August 19.
Released in 2009, the original “Orphan” starred Isabelle Fuhrman as Esther, a 9-year-old Russian girl adopted by the Coleman family (Vera Farmiga and Peter Sarsgaard) after their third child is stillborn. Esther begins to demonstrate bizarre adult-like and violent behavior, putting her at odds with her adopted mother. In a famous twist ending, the first film revealed that Esther is actually a 33-year-old woman with a hormonal disorder that causes her to look like a child, who has spent her life posing as a little girl and killing the families that adopt her.

Looks like something is still wrong with Esther.
Isabelle Fuhrman, who broke out in Hollywood as the lead of the disturbing 2009 hit “Orphan,” will reprise her role in an upcoming prequel to the film.
Fuhrman played Esther, an Eastern European child adopted by parents (played by Peter Sarsgaard and Vera Farmiga) overcoming an unspeakable loss of their own. It earned $80 million worldwide on a reported $20 million budget.
While the movie received mixed reviews, it was largely credited with delivering a twist that broke new ground in the sub-genre of disturbed little kids — Esther was not a child at all, but an adult woman with primordial dwarfism masquerading as a nine-year-old. This made her attempts to split up her parents and eliminate her siblings all the more sinister and unforgettable.
While the prequel’s plot is under wraps, Fuhrman will return as star and associate producer on the project. William Brent Bell...

According to Deadline, Sandra Bullock is set to star in Cash Truck, a new film “inspired by” the 2004 French movie Le Convoyeur—though, going by the plot descriptions, that might just be a fancy way of saying it’s a remake. Cash Truck is about an American woman named Alex (Bullock) who takes a job with an armored car company in London that was recently hit by a “deadly heist.” As she forms close relationships with the company’s “tight-knit crew,” Alex gradually reveals that she has some kind of scheme that involves “an explosive secret” from her past and her own “mysterious agenda.” From there, the story goes in “shocking, thrilling new directions,” which is always exciting.
Cash Truck will be directed by Narcos’ Josef Wladyka, from a screenplay by Ethan Erwin, Albert Hughes, and John Hodge.
