ABC’s The Good Doctor entered a post-covid world on Monday night, marking the first medical drama to move past the pandemic and on to other storylines. But with real-world infection rates on the rise, and a member of the show’s cast among the infected, we have to ask: Does it feel like the right decision to sidestep this unprecedented crisis?
To be fair to the show, a public service announcement did open the episode. Series star Freddie Highmore acknowledged that the following hour “portrays our hope for the future — a future where no one will have to wear a mask,...

Whether or not you choose to believe in extraterrestrial beings, there's no denying that the topic of discussion is an utterly fascinating one that manages to capture the imagination like no other.
Personally, I'm still not even sure what my feelings are on the matter, but what I can say is that there will never be enough documentaries in the world to fully satiate my interest in the topic.
The latest of such documentaries, titled Mirage Men, was just digitally released today, and it looks to be one of the more fascinating ones we've yet seen, peeling back the curtain and exploring government coverups in an effort to at long last expose the truth.
Sound interesting? Head over to Yekra to digitally rent the doc, and whet your appetite with the trailer below!

One is a controversial film about a nightmarish trip to Disneyland. The other a documentary about UFOs and the government's cover-up of the existence of aliens. Both Escape from Tomorrow (review) and Mirage Men have found distribution from Random Media, who will be releasing them next year.
Escape from Tomorrow is set for DVD and Blu-ray release in April 2014 with no specific date yet set for Mirage Men. Learn all about both films below!
Escape from Tomorrow Synopsis:
The most provocative film from the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, Escape From Tomorrow should not exist, and yet it does. Like nothing you've ever seen, Randy Moore's directorial debut is a bold and ingenious trip into the happiest place on earth.
An epic battle begins when a middle-aged American husband and father of two learns that he has lost his job. Keeping the news from his nagging wife and wound-up children, he...

The second installment of my Ff 2013 overview focuses on this year's documentaries. It seems like each year the docs on hand get better and better, like the award-winning "Jodorowsky's Dune", and this year we got a small but very fine collection.
Mirage Men
dir. John Lundberg
Of all the incredibly creepy UFO documentaries and "special reports" that aired on television throughout the 70's and early 80's, the one that got under my skin the most was A Strange Harvest, the 1980 Linda Moulton Howe expose' on cattle mutilation. I wasn't even a teenager at the time, but when I caught an afternoon broadcast on HBO it messed me up good, and if I remember correctly it was probably the first time I began to consider two things: 1., alien visitors might actually be real, and 2. Mirage Men
Written by Mark Pilkington
Directed by John Lundberg, Roland Denning, and Kypros Kyprianou
UK, 2013
The vast, unknowable nature of the unidentified flying object is at the heart of the maddeningly, and deliberately, impenetrable new documentary Mirage Men, playing at this year’s Fantastic Fest. If the truth is, as was once promised, out there, it has yet to be found. Mirage Men argues, in what may not be the most terribly surprising twist depending on your level of cynicism, that the United States government has fed into UFO conspiracy theories to distract from high-level and classified projects from breaking in the news. And while the initial revelations are somewhat damning, after a point, the lack of hard answers serve to infuriate instead of elucidate.
At the heart of Mirage Men is an enigmatic ex-government employee named Richard Doty. He worked heavily with the late Paul Bennewitz, a World...

Q&A Interview with Up-and-Coming 13-Year-Old Filmmaker Emily Diprimio
by Heather Wixson
It’s not often that you run across aspiring genre directors who are still in their teens so when we discovered a brand new Kickstarter campaign for Carver, an upcoming indie slasher from the filmmaking team of Ron Diprimio and his 13-year-old daughter Emily Diprimio, we immediately took notice.
In the campaign, the Diprimios’ describe Carver as, “a throwback 80’s style slasher that follows a group of teenagers who are haunted by a despicable act they committed on Halloween when they were younger.
