After receiving over 10,000 applications in their nationwide search for a new guitarist, the Smashing Pumpkins revealed Friday the newest member of their band: Social media-famous guitarist Kiki Wong.
In January, the Pumpkins announced an open audition to fill the vacancy left by departing guitarist Jeff Schroeder, who had a 16-year tenure with Billy Corgan and company. Just two weeks later, the band said they received so many applications that it required “eight people working full-time to review each and every one.”

Smashing Pumpkins have named Kiki Wong as their new touring guitarist.
Following the departure of longtime guitarist Jeff Schroeder last October, frontman Billy Corgan put out an open call for his replacement. The band received more than 10,000 applicants, which Corgan then whittled down to a group of finalists who auditioned in-person in Los Angeles last month. He settled on Wong, a veteran guitarist who has performed with the likes of Taylor Swift, Usher, and Bret Michaels, as well as with rock bands Nylon Pink, Hellfire Heart, and currently, Vigil of War.

“Reviewing the work of these incredible musicians was a herculean, albeit worthy effort,” Corgan said in a statement. “First off, I really want to thank everyone who submitted materials for consideration. It wasn’t an easy decision with how much great guitar playing we were lucky enough to hear and see over the past few months.

Big Brother 23 featured Derek Xiao and Claire Rehfuss.
The BB23 cast members were on the wrong side of The Cookout alliance that summer, leading to their early exits from the game.
But Derek and Claire made it to the jury phase. A romantic relationship developed between them in the jury house.
The secret of the relationship between Derek and Claire was kept close by their fellow jury members, and it only became public after the season finale.
As a reminder, The Cookout dominated that season, taking all six of its alliance members to the end.
The BB23 jury voted unanimously for Xavier Prather to win over Derek Frazier. It made Xavier the first winner of the $750,000 prize. The prize had been at $500,000 for the previous 22 seasons.

The Smashing Pumpkins’ open call for a new guitarist has been a… smashing success. In a social media statement, the current trio of Billy Corgan, James Iha, and Jimmy Chamberlin announced they’ve received upwards of 10,000 applications for the gig.
“The band has received over 10,000 submissions for the position of additional guitarist,” Smashing Pumpkins wrote. “Currently, there are 8 people working full-time to review each and every one.”
This past October, the Pumpkins’ longtime guitarist Jeff Schroeder announced he was leaving the group after over 15 years. “I’ve decided to leave the band to make some space to explore a slightly different path,” he wrote at the time.
Smashing Pumpkins’ current lineup features Corgan on vocals/guitar, Iha on guitar, and Chamberlin on drums, along with touring bassist Jack Bates and multi-instrumentalist Katie Cole.

In a highly unusual move, the Smashing Pumpkins are soliciting a new guitarist with a general call-out.
The group announced Friday that they’re seeking to add a third guitarist to founding vocalist and guitarist Billy Corgan, guitarist James Iha, and drummer Jimmy Chamberlain. The group has big shows scheduled starting in June.
“The Smashing Pumpkins are in search of an additional guitarist,” the band said in a statement posted to social media. “The application process is open to anyone who might be interested.” An email was also listed (see below) for interested guitarists to submit a resume and any related materials.
The call went out after guitarist Jeff Schroeder, who joined the group in 2007, announced his exit.
“The amount of incredible memories created over the last 16 years with the band are almost too numerous to quantify,” Schroeder wrote. “Although it was a very difficult decision to make, I’ve...

One of the more unlikely showmances this summer on “Big Brother 25” is the one between 27-year-old beauty America Lopez and 21-year-old nerd Cory Wurtenberger. They’ve been flirting for weeks in the hammock, in their beds and everywhere in between, but only recently did they share their first smoocheroo. Some time after that, America confessed to Mecole Hayes that Cory is an “awful” kisser and that he’s “just very tense.” But have no fear — she plans on being his “teacher” to help him “practice” throughout the rest of the summer.
The hilarious “BB25” scene was shown on the live feeds on Paramount Plus (watch below).

The Smashing Pumpkins headlined Saturday night at their own The World Is a Vampire fest in Mexico City, a festival that also featured Peter Hook and the Light on the lineup. Both of those bands share the same bassist — Jack Bates, Hook’s son — so it was only natural that “Hooky” join Billy Corgan and company for a set-ending performance of Joy Division’s “No Love Lost.”
Hook and the Pumpkins previously partially collaborated in 2021 when Hook, Bates and guitarist Jeff Schroeder re-recorded Joy Division’s “Ceremony” to raise funds for Sweet Relief.

Cody Nickson and Jessica Graf now have some company. Derek Xiao and Claire Rehfuss won “The Amazing Race 34” on Wednesday, becoming the second “Big Brother” team to claim the 1 million prize on its fellow CBS reality show.
After moving into first place during the drive to the Roadblock in Nashville, the couple, who met last summer on “Big Brother 23,” never relinquished their lead. They beat long-lost twins Emily Bushnell and Molly Sinert and married couple Luis Colon and Michelle Burgos.

Can Derek Xiao and Claire Rehfuss follow in Cody Nickson and Jessica Graf‘s footsteps? The couple is just one leg away from becoming the second “Big Brother” team to win “The Amazing Race.”
Derek and Claire, who started dating in the “Big Brother 23” jury house last summer, booked their final three spot on “The Amazing Race 34” last week by winning the penultimate leg in Iceland — their fourth first-place finish of the season. They will vie for the 1 million in Nashville against married couple Luis Colon and Michelle Burgos and long-lost twins Emily Bushnell and Molly Sinert.

Taylor Hale on making ‘Big Brother’ history: ‘This is like winning Miss Congeniality all over again’
During every season finale of “Big Brother,” host Julie Chen Moonves hands out two checks: one worth 750,000 to the ultimate winner and one worth 50,000 to the person who viewers named America’s Favorite Houseguest. “We have made history,” Julie declared during Sunday’s “BB24” finale. Why? Because Taylor Hale was the recipient of both cash prizes, for the first time ever. (She also won a Princess Cruise for two — not too shabby!)
“This is like winning Miss Congeniality all over again, but there’s a cash prize this time,” the Michigan beauty queen said on live television after Julie made the big announcement. “I’m gonna spend a lot of money at the mall. Also I think I have to go and buy some potato chips after this.” Of course, Taylor made history in another way as well, as she now becomes the first Black woman to win “Big Brother.

Will a “Big Brother” showmance win “The Amazing Race” again? “Big Brother 23” alums Derek Xiao and Claire Rehfuss are among the 12 new teams competing on “The Amazing Race 34.”
The new cast, announced Wednesday, also includes long-lost twins, ballroom dancers, military brothers and a pair of former Rams cheerleaders. That’s not the only NFL connection, though, because former New York Jets and Buffalo Bills coach Rex Ryan is also in the cast. Now an ESPN analyst, he is racing with his golf buddy Tim Mann. Meet the cast in the gallery above or click here.
Xiao and Rehfuss started dating in the “Big Brother” jury house last summer after getting evicted in 10th and eighth place, respectively, both victims of the Cookout alliance. Not counting Season 31 of “The Amazing Race” — which pitted alums of “Race,” “Big Brother” and “Survivor” against each other — they are the fourth “Big Brother” couple to...

Michael Bruner picked up his fifth comp win and fourth Veto this week on “Big Brother 24” when he won Otev. Sure, he was also aided by Terrance Higgins throwing it to him in a misbegotten attempt to save Daniel Durston, but still, a win is a win. That also means that his festie bestie Brittany Hoopes is in the “Bb” annals as a co-winner of Otev even though she was the first one to be eliminated from the comp. As a superfan, Michael is no doubt aware of the Otev curse and the fact that Cody Calafiore broke it in 2020 when he became the first Otev champ to win the whole game in the same season. That didn’t kick off a new trend, though, since Alyssa Lopez was evicted in seventh place last season. Can Michael or Brittany become the second?

I’ll admit I had never heard of The Greatest Inheritance or the production company behind it, Mustard Seed Entertainment, however I was drawn to the film on its short, but sweet, synopsis:
The estranged DuBose siblings return home to bury their mother and claim their inheritance, only to discover that their deceased mother has hidden the deed to the entire estate somewhere on the property.
That synopsis, to me, screamed “scavenger hunt” movies like Rat Race and Midnight Madness; mixed with a film such as Death at a Funeral, which meant I was immediately intrigued – expecting a fun, perhaps madcap, comedy that also had a touching side given it’s about a family. Unfortunately...

Every year, much is made about the ultimate winner of “Big Brother,” and for good reason as that person played a good enough game to claim the $750,000 grand prize. But there’s another reward that’s handed out every finale night that has us just as excited summer after summer: America’s Favorite Houseguest. This title comes with eternal bragging rights and a $50,000 check. At the end of Wednesday’s two-night finale of “Big Brother 23,” host Julie Chen Moonves announced that the latest America’s Favorite Houseguest recipient was Tiffany Mitchell.

For the past week at Gold Derby, “Big Brother 23” fans have been casting their votes for who they want to win America’s Favorite Houseguest and the $50,000 check that comes with it. Three of the 16 houseguests have double-digit support in our recent poll: Tiffany Mitchell in first place, Claire Rehfuss in second place and Derek Xiao in third place. In other words, people who think the popular “Lord of the Latrine” has this thing in the bag may be surprised on finale night. The other players all come in with less than 3% of the vote, suggesting this is indeed a three-way race.

Alyssa Lopez won Otev this week on “Big Brother 23” — or technically, she was thrown it by Kyland Young, who wanted her to win so he could get the second Veto since he bet on her in Veto Derby. No matter, she’s still in the “Bb” record books now as an Otev champ. The good news for her is that the Otev curse has been broken, by Cody Calafiore last year, but the bad news is that she’s unlikely to pull a Cody and win the whole shebang.
Until Cody last season, nobody had won the iconic Veto comp and gone on to win the season. Otev was introduced in Season 7, the first all-stars installment, in 2006 and has been played every year except Season 10. Here are all the Otev champs:

Depending on how you feel about showmances on “Big Brother,” one of the good/bad things about an all-stars installment is that most of these houseguests are older (you can debate whether they’re “wiser”) and probably married with kids or in a long-standing relationship (sometimes with people they had met in the house), which means there’s less of a chance of a showmance blooming.
There hasn’t been one (yet) on Season 22 — though some are trying to make Da’Vonne Rogers and David Alexander a thing, but it’s fetch — but let’s look back at some of the most memorable showmances in “Big Brother” history, some of whom are still together.

Following a mysterious countdown, Smashing Pumpkins have unleashed two tracks, “Cyr” and “The Colour of Love,” from the semi-reunited band’s upcoming album and follow-up to 2018’s Shiny and Oh So Bright, Vol. 1 / LP: No Past. No Future. No Sun.
“Cyr is dystopic folly,” Billy Corgan said in a statement, “one soul against the world sort of stuff, set against a backdrop of shifting loyalties and sped up time. To me it stands as both hopeful and dismissive of what is and isn’t possible with faith.”
The band, during lockdown,...

Big Brother is back in session, and here at TVLine, we’re getting a bit nostalgic. While fan favorite cast members like Janelle Pierzina, Kaysar Ridha and Daniele Donato are back in the house delivering fresh and fiery moments for the record books (check out our BB22 winner predictions here), we’re reminiscing about some of our favorite Bb moments from seasons past.
As this year’s remaining 15 houseguests continue the ultimate battle for power and that $500k check, we’re revisiting some of the best and most brutal blindsides in the show’s 20 year history. While a good portion...

Big Brother has been on the air for 20 years.
The series has been a success story for CBS, but it has also been filled with controversial houseguests.
While most of the action is cut down to three one-hour episodes every week, the series has a 24-hour live feed that gives viewers a closer look into what goes on in the house.
We're running down the most controversial houseguests.
Jack Matthews (Season 21)
Matthews found himself in trouble for comments that viewers found both racist and aggressive.
He did not get on with fellow houseguest, Kemi Fakunle, and said to his allies that he wanted to "stomp a mudhole through" her chest.
He also called her "disgusting" and a "maggot" during their time in the house.
Matthews also courted controversy when called Asian-American houseguest Isabella Wang a "rice pudding."
Julie Chen asked Matthews about his comments upon his eviction, and he apologized to Fakunle,...
