Cameron Texter

Cameron Texter has served the people of the City of York, Pennsylvania,
as a City Councilman, school board member, local television host,
producer and editor.
Cameron first won election to the York City Council in November 2001 and joined the Council in January 2002. He served as Council President from 2004 through 2008 and will end his council service in January 2010. He previously served on the York City School Board from 1995 through 2001. He also served on the York City Zoning Hearing Board of Appeals from 1993 through 2001 and on the York City Human Relations Commission in 1994.
Cameron also served on the Democratic Party of York County's Executive Board from 1991 through 1998 and represented York County on the Pennsylvania Democratic State Committee from 1994 through 1998. He served on Governor Ed Rendell's Judicial Issues Review Transition Committee in 2002.
Additionally, Cameron has worked in many capacities in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives since 1990 and assists many legislators as a senior research specialist in the Office of Member Services.
He worked as a newspaper reporter and columnist for the Pocono Record in Stroudsburg, Pa., in 1983; as a news writer, photographer and columnist for the Pottsville Republican in Pottsville, Pa., in 1984-85; as a political and investigative writer for the Anderson Independent-Mail in Anderson, S.C., in 1985-89; as a political, investigative and special projects writer for the York Daily Record in 1989-90.
Cameron has hosted, produced, directed and edited "In the Center with Cameron Texter" on White Rose Community Television and York Community Access Television, Inc., since 1994. He also assisted in the production of many other programs on those television stations.
Further, Cameron served as a co-host of the "American Visions" talk show on WGCB-TV, channel 49, in Red Lion, Pa., in 2006.
He acted in the movie, "Instant Aggression" as a favor to a friend, who felt he was perfect for the part. Cameron helped rewrite the script for the film, but received no credit for that work.
Cameron appeared briefly as an extra in the unaired pilot and first episode of the ABC series "Commander in Chief." He visited the filming in Washinton, D.C., to see his then brother-in-law, James Spies. Director Rod Lurie ended up chatting with Cameron about politics and film-making and then decided to throw Cameron into the scene in which Geena Davis enters the White House as the new president.
Cameron also appeared in an ESPN documentary "Inside the Lines" in 2002 as a York City School Board member regarding the recruiting of foreign exchange students for high school basketball teams. He also appeared in his capacity as a York City Councilman in the 2009 documentary by Brian Plow called "Home" about the construction of the Sovereign Bank Stadium in York.
