In 2007, Australian director Daley Pearson made a very simple short film called $quid. Two guys are floating in a boat on the Brisbane river when one confesses that he owes a giant squid millions of dollars. Then he breaks out into song.
Well, this strange short with it's somewhat obtuse premise has quietly been turned into a feature length film by the same director. While info on how the story has been transformed into feature length material as been kept under wraps, you can tell by the teaser that it follows a love triangle to a violent end and, though a squid doesn't make an appearance, you know the tentacled beast is waiting just under the surface to strike with metaphoric glee.
Perhaps not surprisingly the footage looks gorgeous. The Dp on it is the experienced Marc Windon who recently worked on Gates of Hell and Dolph Lundgren's Command Performance.
