"Tell me who it was!" Ace Entertainment and Ascendant Releasing have debuted an official trailer for the indie action film The Stolen, starring Alice Eve as a woman who goes off on her own dangerous adventure to find and save her kidnapped child. Set in the 1800s in New Zealand, Eve stars as the wife of a farmer who is murdered. She's then forced to join a convoy of ex-convicts, whores, hustlers and a native Maori warrior heading for the rough mining town of Gold Town, where she hopes to find her son and bring him home. The film's full cast includes Jack Davenport, Graham McTavish, Richard O'Brien, Stan Walker, Cohen Holloway, Glen Levy, Gillian MacGregor, and Stig Eldred. This doesn't look so bad, but it also just doesn't look good either. Alice Eve tries so hard but just isn't a great actress, and the rest looks forgettable. Here's the...

Gillian MacGregor
After small roles in The Sick House and A Lonely Place To Die, plus a series of appearances in TV series Persona, Gillian McGregor had her first major leading role in Beyond, the story of a couple at war with one another as a large, unknown object hurtles toward the Earth. Her performance dominates the film and is sure to bring her to wider attention. As it’s released on DVD this week, I caught up with her to ask how she became involved with the film.
“Lizzie, the producer, contacted my agent,” she says. “Well, I went in for casting and I really thought I blew it. I tend to get a feeling for how it’s gone. But then I got called back.” She laughs, remembering her excitement; it’s odd to hear such a light-hearted sound after watching her fierce and unhappy creation in Beyond.

Cross-media project market and conference unfolds June 19-20.
Actress, writer and producer Emily Corcoran [pictured] and director Annette K Olesen’s will be among the film professionals crossing over to the web to present transmedia projects at the upcoming edition of Cross Video Days (Cvd) in Paris later this month.
The cross-media market and conference event, unfolding June 19-20 in a former warehouse on the outskirts of Paris, marks its fifth edition this year.
Founder Bruno Smajda is expecting it to be the biggest edition to date.
“It’s taken off in terms of the quality of the projects and the attendance of commissioners, one feeds into another,” he says.
“Today producers and broadcasters have to conceive projects in a transmedia way, taking into account convergence and what’s happening digitally — not least due to the realities of the market and the way in which people consume content,” says Smadja.
“The wave of change is so great everyone...
