According to Sandcastle Music’s marketing manager Skye Riggs, the commercial release of a music soundtrack like Accidents Happen or The Kings of Mykonos can help generate media attention and therefore promotion for a local film.
“That can only help a film’s release,” Riggs told Encore.
Although historically many soundtrack albums – international and local – have become big hits, physical releases of Australian film or TV show soundtracks have become increasingly rare. Most available CDs are musical scores, but few projects are able to spawn a more commercial project
Sandcastle Music recently worked on the Accidents Happen soundtrack and, according to Riggs, the title track from that release (by Empire of the Sun’s Luke Steele) has generated the attention of radio and music TV.
The next project is The Kings of Mykonos: Wog Boy 2, which will be available this month to coincide with the May 20 release of the film.
