Mario Corona was born in Mexico City and is based in LA. He is an actor and host, and from a very young age he was fascinated by the music of Carmina Burana by Carl Orff, since his mother started singing in the Choir of the National Conservatory of Music. At age 12 he was selected to participate in his first television commercial for a milk brand and began his career as a stunt-double in "Nada Personal" where he participated next to Demián Bichir while studying Drama at The Russian School of Acting for four years, where he also learned fencing, height falls and stage fighting. At School he won the first place and then selected for the Youth Arts Festival in Sofia, Bulgaria with a monologue excerpt from 'Catcher in the Rye' and then graduating with a Diploma with the play 'White Nights' by Fiodor Dostoyevsky, directed by Professor Iouri. He caught the attention of producers when he was selected among hundreds of candidates to host a TV program for kids that would eventually become one of the most popular shows of this nature in Mexico, that show actually holds the record for having the largest team of reporters in the world. That show is Bizbirije for Once TV and for this work, Mario was awarded with the National Journalism Prize and the National Locution Award twice in 2004 and 2005. Immediately after that, Mario shot 'Bad Girls' and 'Casi Divas' in two years back to back, then a series of thrillers for TV followed and hosting in successful campaigns for the media. He has worked for major Television Networks like the Disney Channel, Discovery Channel and Once TV. His cinema work includes three Sony Pictures, Neill Blomkamp's second feature 'Elysium', starring Matt Damon, Diego Luna and Wagner Moura, the comedies Bad Girls (Niñas Mal) and Road to Fame (Casi Divas), in Television, the Awarded hit series 'Las Aparicio', high-tech invention show 'La Fábrica', and Disney's 'Zapping Zone' In his latest work, the TV series 'Guardia-García', he plays the infamous serial killer Carlos Salgado. In Theatre, He has worked in 'Pariah' by August Strindberg, 'La Bestia' by Juan Frendsa, semi finalist at the Short and Sweet Film and Theatre Festival, 'El Modelo de Sabines " a compilation of poems staged by Mexican poet Jaime Sabines, the adaptation of Juan Rulfo Pedro Páramo' and 'Filomena Marturano' based on "Marriage Italian Style" by Eduardo de Filippo , which reached 300 shows in Los Angeles, California, where its unique plaque was unveiled. Mario also participated in the hit series "Jane The Virgin" broadcast by CW in the US and in the film "Maira" which in turn participated in the Southern Film Festival in Laffayette, Louisiana. Mario's work in the US includes Film such as 'Madness in the Method', theatre, commercials, including a successful beer campaign for the World Cup opposite Sylvester Stallone and Dolph Lundgren, resulting in the biggest campaign for this athletic event in Mexico.
