Raven Banner Entertainment will launch international sales at the Cannes Film Market for Steven Kostanski’s latest feature “Frankie Freako.”
Kostanski’s previous feature “Psycho Goreman” premiered at SXSW in 2020 and gathered a cult following worldwide. Reviewing the film for Variety, critic Owen Gleiberman described the film as “‘The Toxic Avenger’ remade by the Robert Rodriguez of ‘Spy Kids.'”
“Frankie Freako” is described by Raven Banner as Kostanki’s homage to the practical-fx-driven monster horror-comedies of the 1980s like “Gremlins 2” and “Ghoulies 3: Ghoulies Go to College.” It tells the story of workaholic yuppie Conor Sweeney whose perfect life is turned upside down when he accidentally unleashes a trio of tiny trouble-makers into his home, led by the maniacal rock-n-roll party monster Frankie Freako. It’s a race against time as Conor must defeat the trio and clean up their trail of destruction before his wife returns from her weekend work trip,...

Edward Norton’s The Incredible Hulk was not as bad of a movie, nor was Norton a bad Hulk. In fact, many Marvel fans would love to have him as the Green Goliath instead of MCU’s Mark Ruffalo. Since the past decade, fans have been wanting to see more of the meaner and scarier Hulk instead of Ruffalo’s toned-down, friendlier version that we got in recent years.
Edward Norton’s Hulk in The Incredible Hulk
So while fans might never get Edward Norton’s version of Hulk back, a notorious villain from the movie will be making his way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Known as Mr Blue, Samuel Sterns will be the antagonist in Harrison Ford’s MCU debut film, Captain America: Brave New World.

Mark Ruffalo has been playing the role of Bruce Banner a.k.a Hulk in the MCU since The Avengers. The actor replaced Edward Norton after his appearance in The Incredible Hulk. Since then, Ruffalo has appeared in all the Avengers films, as well as Thor: Ragnarok and the Disney Plus series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
While the actor has been an irreplaceable part of the Og Avengers, he is one of the few to not receive a solo outing yet. The MCU has also not explored much more dangerous and scarier versions of the Hulk, who has gone berzerk multiple times in the comics. Fans especially want Kevin Feige to introduce Maestro, who was already seen in the game Marvel’s Avengers.

These days, many fans know Mark Ruffalo for two major reasons. First is his portrayal of the mighty green Avenger, The Hulk, and second is hilariously giving away major plot points from whatever movie he stars in. However, his fanbase extends beyond the realm of gamma radiation and super strength.

The MCU itself is a global phenomenon, having raked in a staggering $30 billion at the global box office. However, Ruffalo, one of its most important cast members, does not believe that the MCU is his biggest claim to fame.

Despite its importance for the future of the cinematic universe, ‘The Marvels’ didn’t do well at the box office. Ever since the release of the last MCU film, which was none other than the infamous The Marvels, there have been rumors going around that claimed actress Brie Larson’s days as Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, had come to an end.
But at the time, there were no concrete pieces of evidence to support these claims, and as new reports started to roll in, it seemed less likely that the character or the actress was going anywhere.
Brie Larson in and as Captain Marvel
As new information has started to flow in, it seems like Captain Marvel may have a lot more to do in the franchise in the future. New insider reports claim Danvers may seek the help of Sorcerer Supreme Wong as well as Bruce Banner to help understand the powers of The Quantum Bands while also attempting to bring back Monica Rambeau to the main MCU universe.

Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk had one of the most stagnant character arcs in the MCU, despite the hero being a crucial part of the Avengers team. While behind-the-scenes issues played a major part in the MCU’s failure to explore this character, even solving those issues may no longer help Hulk’s story. The universe has already introduced another superhero dealing with multiple personality disorder — Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight — which undermines the Hulk’s defining characteristic from the comics.

The reason why Hulk has always been paired with the Avengers and not given his own solo project since 2008 stems from a deal with Universal Pictures. The company owns the distribution rights to standalone Hulk movies.

Every year brings rumors of a ‘World War Hulk’ movie in the works. These rumors have persisted for years without any concrete developments.
Over a year ago, there was a report that Marvel Studios was working on a new Hulk solo movie starring Mark Ruffalo, potentially titled ‘World War Hulk,’ loosely based on the comic book storyline. There have been rumors about a solo Hulk project being in the works in the MCU, specifically World War Hulk, which makes sense given the number of Hulk allies and antagonists that have begun populating the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Liv Tyler will be returning to the MCU as Betty Ross. Thaddeus Thunderbolt Ross will now be played by Harrison Ford. The Leader, one of the Hulk’s most notorious villains, is set to make his debut in the MCU as well. The Abomination still roams free (albeit reformed).

In the sea of upcoming MCU projects ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ certainly stands out due to its seemingly difficult and troubled production. The movie was supposed to be released in 2024, but due to a combination of the SAG-AFTRA strike and necessary extensive reshoots, it’s been delayed for more than a year.
Little is known about the plot of the movie, except for the brief synopsis that was released some time ago. Serpent Society & King Cobra were supposed to be minor villains in the movie but according to the recent rumors, they have been removed from the movie completely.
Now Serpent Society might be gone, but one confirmed character will reprise his role from ‘The Incredible Hulk.’ We’re talking about Tim Blake Nelson’s The Leader. Notable scooper and leaker CanWeGetSomeToast revealed the first look at Nelson’s The Leader in the upcoming movie.

Emily Blunt is in talks to join Benny Safdie’s solo directorial debut “The Smashing Machine,” an A24 feature film starring Dwayne Johnson as Mma and UFC champion Mark Kerr, Variety has confirmed. The film will begin production this summer.
Blunt is in talks to play Dawn Staples, Kerr’s wife. Per the studio, “While trying to set up a new life together, Dawn struggles to find her place within Mark’s chaotic and contradictory world.”
The project would reunite Blunt with both Safdie, with whom she starred in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer,” and Johnson, her co-star from Disney’s 2021 film “Jungle Cruise.”
The film’s logline reads, “‘The Smashing Machine’ is a drama based on the story of Mark Kerr, the legendary Mma fighter from the no-holds-barred era of the UFC at the peak of his career. He struggles with addiction, winning, love and friendship in the year 2000.”

Among the upcoming slate of MCU projects, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ stands out as the most concerning with its challenging development journey. Initially, the fourth installment faced hurdles in production, attributed to unfavorable test screenings and criticisms regarding the action sequences compared to its predecessors.
However, a glimmer of hope emerged when Matthew Orton was brought on board as a writer, accompanied by plans for extensive reshoots slated for mid-2024. Speculation swirled regarding the removal of the Serpent Society storyline from the film. Originally slated for a 2024 release, the movie encountered delays due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, necessitating significant reshoots and rewrites, ultimately pushing its premiere by a full year.
Recently, a positive turn of events surfaced with hints from merchandise suggesting the involvement of Hulk in the film, a detail confirmed by Mark Ruffalo himself during an interview at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

Out of all upcoming MCU projects, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is currently the most worrying and has the most difficult development. The fourth movie in the franchise was stuck in production hell following bad test screenings with some reports stating that the action wasn’t as satisfying as in the first three movies in the franchise.
Then the news went out that Matthew Orton was hired as a writer and that the reshoots will be more extensive in nature, scheduled for mid-2024 with rumors of Serpent Society being removed from the movie in its entirety. As a reminder, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ was supposed to come out in 2024, the movie even switched release dates with ‘Deadpool 3’ at one point but due to the SAG-AFTRA strike and extensive reshoots and rewrites the movie was postponed a whole year.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has made Bruce Banner/The Hulk into just one more of the Avengers. His most recent MCU appearances, "Avengers: Endgame" and "She-Hulk," have ditched the man and monster dichotomy altogether; the Hulk is now just a green and buff Bruce.
For all his personal faults, Joss Whedon was the last writer/director to explore the Hulk's tragedy in his two "Avengers" films. The nascent team's climactic argument in "The Avengers," when Banner silences the room by revealing he "got low, so he put a bullet in [his] mouth, and the other guy spit it out" has real dramatic gravitas.
However, the MCU has altogether elided where that tragedy begins. In the comics, Dr. Bruce Banner was already a troubled man before the gamma bomb explosion that changed his life. Banner's father Brian was a nuclear psychist convinced his own radiation exposure turned his son into a monster.

The 2010 San Diego Comic-Con was not the biggest gathering in the event's history, but in terms of its importance as a movie marketing event, this was the freakin' year. The gargantuan, hangar-sized Hall H, christened in 2004 as the home for star-studded studio panels, was packed on both peak days as major stars and filmmakers shilled the next two years' most anticipated genre titles. Friday was all about "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," which, with all its major stars present, turned into a shriek-filled presentation as deafening as The Beatles' 1964 appearance on "The Ed Sullivan Show."
And then there was Saturday.
Warner Bros. kicked off the Hall H festivities with a buzzy panel that could've matched the "Twilight" delirium had the main Harry Potter trio of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint showed up for the "Deathly Hallows: Part I" preview. The day threatened to descend into chaos when a...

How did Justin Hammer hijack the Stark Tech Tower?
As the Watcher continued narrating his favorite Christmas story, we went back to Christmas Eve, when each of the Avengers was busy enjoying their Christmas Eve parties. While Natasha was stuck somewhere with a Hydra agent, Tony and Captain were busy playing Santa and his elf at a Christmas party.

Even though Mark Ruffalo's Hulk hasn't had a solo movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he's had quite the on-screen journey dating back to 2012's "The Avengers." The most crucial part of that journey to date took place in 2019's "Avengers: Endgame" when Bruce Banner and Hulk merged, creating Smart Hulk. The beast had finally been tamed, with Banner and Hulk finally being able to co-exist. It turns out, Smart Hulk was originally supposed to make his grand entrance in "Avengers: Infinity War" a year earlier.
In the commentary track for "Endgame," directors Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, along with writers Stephen McFeeley and Christopher Markus, revealed that Smart Hulk was originally supposed to appear during the third act of "Infinity War" during the battle in Wakanda. As it exists, Bruce fights in The Hulkbuster armor because Hulk won't come out following his confrontation with Thanos earlier in the film.

Benny Safdie has set his solo directorial debut with “The Smashing Machine,” an A24 feature film starring Dwayne Johnson as Mma and UFC champion Mark Kerr.
Per A24, the film marks “The Rock’s move into his most dramatic project and role yet.” The movie’s logline reads: “‘The Smashing Machine’ is a drama based on the story of Mark Kerr, the legendary Mma fighter from the no-holds-barred era of the UFC at the peak of his career. "The Incredible Hulk" was an early stumbling block for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Released in June 2008, a mere month after "Iron Man," lightning did not strike twice for Marvel Studios' burgeoning movie enterprise; "Incredible Hulk" got a shrug from critics and underperformed at the box office.
Even so, Marvel Studios steamrolled ahead. Star Edward Norton didn't return for any future MCU films and Bruce Banner was recast with Mark Ruffalo for "The Avengers." The behind-the-scenes book "MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios" by Dave Gonzales, Gavin Edwards, and Joanna Robinson features a chapter about "The Incredible Hulk" and its gamma radiation-flavored fallout. The book ultimately puts the production's unpleasant memories on the shoulders of Edward Norton, suggesting his actor-as-auteur approach solidified Marvel's top-down filmmaking tactics.
An unnamed "Marvel performer" tells the authors, "We have a no-a**hole policy on our movies," and the book traces this policy back to Norton's behavior.

We all love Captain America and Iron Man. Those shining icons made the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the powerhouse franchise that we know, and that at least some of us continue to love. It ain’t easy being green in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with it being no secret that Louis Leterrier’s The Incredible Hulk is the black sheep of the Avengers family. Premiering in 2008 as the second MCU outing, it’s the only Phase One movie not to get a sequel.
We’ve come a long way from the early days of the Green Meanie, most notably as The Incredible Hulk was Edward Norton’s only time in the role before Mark Ruffalo took over for The Avengers. As things come full circle and we revisit some of these forgotten arcs, Leterrier has revealed his grand plans for a scrapped sequel.

"Steroidally swollen with gags and smarts." Raven Banner will be releasing this film later in the year, but until then get a first look at this wacky, mesmerizing B&w indie film called Hundreds of Beavers. Made by animator / editor Mike Cheslik, this has been touring the film festival circuit already throughout 2023 - with stops at Fantasia, Cine Horror, Morbido, Cinequest, Fantaspoa, Atlanta, & others. In this 19th century, supernatural winter epic, a drunken applejack salesman must go from zero to hero and become the greatest fur trapper by defeating hundreds of beavers. "The film captures zany and anarchic energy by featuring a new gag every few seconds. It has many one-offs but similarly builds momentum with slower build-ups and call-backs that keep the experience fresh and surprising. A man-versus-nature narrative about overcoming the cruel and unforgiving landscape of a northeastern winter, Hundreds of Beavers is an uproarious and dynamic theatrical experience.

“The Incredible Hulk” director Louis Leterrier has revealed there were plans for a potential sequel to the 2008 superhero movie.
“Yeah there was, like, a whole sequel,” Leterrier said in an interview with Comicbook.com, adding that the scrapped film would have featured variations of the Hulk. “There was, like, Grey Hulk, Red Hulks — there was a lot of good stuff that we were planning.”
Edward Norton starred as Bruce Banner in “The Incredible Hulk,” but neither he nor the film’s storyline and characters drastically influenced future Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. Instead, Mark Ruffalo took over the role of the green Goliath since 2012’s “The Avengers.”
“Hulk is a complex character within the Marvel Universe,” Letterier explained. “You want the primeval Hulk… the rage Hulk. And then when you go Grey Hulk and Smart Hulk you lose that a little bit and you get a little bit more kiddish with it.

Current fans of the MCU have come to know Dr. Bruce Banner a.k.a The Hulk as a friendly, wise cracking, selfie taking, and athleisure wearing supporting muscle for the other avengers. But before he was making cocktails and…babies- the Hulk was once an extremely complicated and emotionally unpredictable character who you could not trust with a hard taco.
And while we all really hope to see Mark Ruffalo’s take on the character to eventually get his own headlining outing, we must also remember that the MCU does indeed have a solo Hulk film. A film about a man who’s terrified of his own powers and is forced to live in isolation in order to protect Everyone. This post contains spoilers for Secret Invasion, Episode Two.
Although she went about it in perhaps the worst way possible, MI6 agent Sonya Falsworth did uncover some crucial information in the latest episode of Secret Invasion. Not only are the Skrulls here on Earth, but they have a plan to get stronger.
More palatable is the way that G’iah discovers similar information, tailing a fellow Skrull to a secret lab. There, she overhears scientists talking about a Harvest, complete with DNA from various creatures. Some of those creatures we recognize, such as the beloved Guardian of the Galaxy Groot and the Frost Beast battled by Thor. But you might need a quick refresher about the other two notable examples, the remains of an Extremis soldier and the arm of Cull Obsidian. More importantly, the secret lab and the samples raise a question: What is the Skrulls’ real plan?

2008 saw the debut of a movie that continues to have major repercussions for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Living through an era of seemingly endless and ever-expanding franchises and multiverses, when “listen to the fans” is a governing principle for the purveyors of pop culture, it’s easy to forget that the superhero genre once offered filmmakers an exciting avenue for pop-art indulgence. Pity, then, that appreciation continues to elude Ang Lee’s Hulk, an ambitious take on Marvel’s big green menace and one of the boldest entries into the cinematic superhero canon.

After 15 years of enduring so much comic book sludge, re-watching the first cinematic stab at Marvel Comics’s modern Jekyll-and-Hyde story...

With its premiere on Shudder on June 9th, we have the official trailer for Ted Geoghegan's Brooklyn 45! Having recently seen Brooklyn 45 at the Overlook Film Festival, I can confidently say that this is a film you won't want to miss!
"December 27, 1945. Five military veterans gather in the ornate parlour of a Brooklyn brownstone. Best friends since childhood, they’ve reunited to support their troubled host – but when his invitation for cocktails turns into an impromptu séance, the metaphoric ghosts of their past become all-too-literal. Trapped in their host’s lounge, the Greatest Generation now finds themselves put to one final test, with their only route to freedom being more bloodshed."
Brooklyn 45 was written and directed by Ted Geoghegan and stars Anne Ramsay, Ron E. Rains, Jeremy Holm, Larry Fessenden, Ezra Buzzington, and Kristina Klebe. It is a co-production between Shudder, Raven Banner, Hangar 18 Media, Divide/Conquer,...

It’s hard to imagine what, exactly, the fourth entry in the Captain America franchise will be. It’s not just that Captain America: New World Order will be the first without Chris Evans’s wholesome hunk Steve Rogers in the red, white, and blue, with Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson abandoning his Falcon identity to become the new Sentinel of Liberty. The movie also puts the legendary Harrison Ford in the place of the recently departed William Hurt as former Secretary of State and Hulkbusting enthusiast Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, and brings back Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns, a scientist last seen in early MCU entry The Incredible Hulk.
With The Falcon and the Winter Soldier showrunner Malcolm Spellman writing the script, and The Cloverfield Paradox director Julius Onah helming, we know that the movie will continue the threads set up by that show. While the series ended with...

Several years ago, Raven Banner Entertainment picked up the Canadian rights to Nothing Left to Fear (watch it Here), a horror film that was produced by musician Slash. A couple years ago, Raven Banner and Slash teamed up again on Rue Morgue Magazine founder Rodrigo Gudiño’s film The Breach (read our review Here), which Slash executive produced and provided the score for. And now Rue Morgue has announced that Raven Banner, Slash, and Gudiño are looking to continue their working relationship, joining forces with Hangar 18 Media to form the production company BerserkerGang, which will be dedicated to edge-of-your-seat horror!
Slash and Gudiño are joined in this endeavor by Michael Paszt, James Fler, and Andrew T. Hunt (a trio described as “horror genre specialists”) of distributor Raven Banner and Pasha Patriki of Hangar 18 Media, which is Raven Banner’s in-house production wing.
Slash had this to say about BerserkerGang:...
