Started out as a $47.00 per week office staffer for the Orioles in
1953. He went on to become a general manager for several baseball teams
five of which made it to the World Series and two teams won it.
During a three year tour of duty in the Korean War with the Air Force
he earned a Bronze Star for his work as a combat press officer in Japan
and Korea.
General manager of several major league baseball clubs in a career that
lasted over 40 years.
