Three films into his feature film career, Brandon Cronenberg has established himself as an innovative and confronting auteur in his own right. When he debuted his 2012 feature debut Antiviral, however, the quality of the film was a secondary topic; first and foremost he was compared to his famous father, David Cronenberg.
There’s a obvious level of cynicism involved whenever a celebrity’s child enters the same field (let’s all agree to bury the term “nepo baby” and move on with our lives). But in the case of Cronenberg junior, there’s an interesting argument to be made about how his father’s work influenced Brandon’s creative approach, and where he’s established himself in his own right.

Blue Mountain State: The Rise Of Thadland is a drug-fueled dystopian comedy that would make Rob Gronkowski blush – we’re coming out of the gate guns-blazing on this one! Everything that television audiences love about the hard-partying Mountain Goats makes a return in Lev L. Spiro’s spinoff film, as creators Eric Falconer and Romanski leave a trail of cocaine dust while they unleash epic, Thad-Castle-approved anarchy.
It’s perversely familiar and relentlessly immature (in a good way), which is everything Bms fans have come to expect. We’re gifted an epic, multi-day party that reunites all our favorite characters, but with the calculated exclusion of on-field football antics, something feels slightly amiss. Not enough to detract immensely, just a little more welcomed playmaking to balance…ah, who am I kidding. You’re watching for the sloots and booze, and that’s exactly what you’ll get!

Seemingly unable to die, Jack (Henry Rollins) spends his immortal days playing bingo and consuming human blood. But Jack's routine is interrupted when his daughter is kidnapped, as teased in the official red band trailer for He Never Died. Along with the new trailer, the supernatural noir has also launched an Indiegogo campaign to help expand its upcoming theatrical release.
He Never Died is slated for a December 18th release in select theaters. Should the film achieve its $50,000 fundraising goal, it will reach a wider audience when its release date arrives.

The Cannes Film Festival is just two weeks away and excitement continues to grow, and as filmmakers, producers, directors, actors and sales agents pack their bags, more peeks of the films hitting the Croisette are landing online. The latest comes from two Canadian filmmakers who will both be competing in the Un Certain Regard section.
First up is two more snaps from Brandon Cronenberg's feature film debut "Antiviral." After pulling together an exciting young cast (and Malcolm McDowell), we now have our first look via Twitch at Brandon Cronenberg's "Antiviral," a fascinating sci-fi pic that will surely do his father proud. Caleb Landry Jones ("X-Men: First Class") stars as a salesman for a clinic that replicates celebrity diseases for public consumption, who himself becomes obsessed with a celebrity and injects himself with her disease, then must figure out how to cure it before time runs out. The younger Cronenberg also wrote the film, which has Sarah Gadon, Douglas Smith, Matt Watts, James Cade and McDowell all co-starring. Here's an extended synopsis: Antiviral follows Syd March, an employee at a clinic that sells injections of live viruses harvested from sick celebrities to obsessed fans. Brandon Cronenberg is currently shooting his feature debut 'Antiviral'. And any new sci-fi horror from the genes of a Cronenberg is something to get excited about. I'm interested to see what Brandon, the son of cult director David Cronenberg, can bring to the table and what sort of styles and influences may be adopted by the filmmaker. The first official still from the production has arrived giving us our first viewing of Caleb Landry Jones ('The Last Exorcism') having a peek at something quite sci-fi. Malcolm McDowell ('Halloween'), Sarah Gadon, Douglas Smith, James Cade, Nicholas Campbell, Lara Jean Chorostecki, Joe Pingue, Matt Watts and Elitsa Bako all co-star. Check out the still below....
