The Oscars red carpet is an incredibly glamorous experience, whether you’re just walking or fully working. But for stars in the latter camp, including The Insider co-host Debbie Matenopolous, you need a dress that looks fabulous on camera, won’t steal the spotlight from the nominees and is comfortable enough to stand in all night. It’s a tall order to fill, which explains why Matenopolous (who is also the co-Host of Hallmark’s Home & Family and the author of It’s All Greek to Me) turned to pal Nick Verreos to create something custom for her from his Nikolaki line.

Like any filmmaker, New Zealand-based Australian David Gould wants his action-thriller The Cure to reach a wide audience- but he.s concluded that releasing the film in cinemas in either country is not cost-effective.
The film will premiere on February 6 at The Embassy Cinema in Wellington and will then be available on DVD, VOD platforms Vimeo and IndieReign and pay-tv.s Rialto Channel.
.We are self-distributing in New Zealand as I think that theatrical releases don.t really work for indie films,. says Gould, who worked for Weta Digital on the visual effects of numerous films including two editions of The Lord of the Rings, King Kong, Rise of the Planet of the Apes and The Adventures of Tintin.
.We aren.t doing a theatrical release because we don.t feel that the expense really brings the corresponding returns. The general public want to see the film in a way that is convenient for them,...

Comics anthologies are tough to get right. DC’s Bizarro World, Marvel’s Strange Tales, The Dark Horse Book Of…, Batman Black and White, and generally most of MySpace/Dark Horse Presents were more misses than hits. The ones I remember really liking were Drawn and Quarterly’s Showcases and Anthologies, and a couple volumes of MySpace/Dark Horse Presents. I say all of this because despite Ugli Studios being an indie outfit putting out an anthology that’s not very good, even the Big 2 have a hard time putting out a strong comics anthology themselves. It’s not who has the biggest reach, it’s the quality of the material and more often than not comics anthologies don’t have much quality material.
Unfortunately this anthology doesn’t contain much quality material. Ugli Studios Presents #2 is a collection of 3 short stories by David Paul, Jason Lenox, Brian Allen and Joseph Freistuhler,...

David Miramontes, who works under the name David Paul, filed a suit in Los Angeles superior court yesterday (18.10.11) in which he stated he worked for the model-turned-charity campaigner – who separated from Sir Paul McCartney in 2006 after four years of marriage – in 2005 but quit in 2008 after she repeatedly failed to pay him.
According to David, Heather told him she had no money until her divorce was finalised but she then began to avoid him from December 2008, despite receiving a settlement of $38 million. He also claims she told him a "string of lies" about her marriage and financial situation.
The document states: "David was made to believe that Paul McCartney was a cheap tyrant who was often a drunk and abusive husband.
"On one occasion, Mills told David that Paul McCartney would get drunk, force her in a wheelchair and frighten her by pushing her at excessive speeds.
"David learned of Mills' divorce decree in March 2008. Later,...

Sir Paul McCartney's ex-wife Heather Mills has been slapped with a lawsuit by her former hairstylist over allegations of unpaid services.
David Paul claims he was first hired by Mills in 2005 to keep her locks in top condition and she continued to use his expertise following her split from the Beatles legend in 2007.
However, Mills reportedly claimed she did not have the cash to cover the $5,000 (£3,125)-a-day cost and promised to settle the bills when she received her $38.9 million (£24.3 million) divorce settlement the following year.
Paul alleges he never received the $80,000 (£50,000) Mills allegedly owes him and he has now taken the issue to Los Angeles County Superior Court to seek compensation and punitive damages, reports TMZ.com.
