A revival of ’90s hit “Melrose Place” is in the works at CBS Studios, with original stars Heather Locklear, Daphne Zuniga and Laura Leighton set to return, TheWrap has learned.
The Darren Star-created night-time soap followed the complicated lives of several 20-somethings who lived in a Los Angeles apartment complex called Melrose Place, where the drama included a bombing, a drowning and a “Dynasty”-esque pool fight.
Locklear played advertising exec Amanda Woodward, whose addition to the show late in the first season helped boost ratings at the time. Zuniga played Jo Reynolds on the series from 1992 to 1999 while Leighton played Sydney Andrews, sister of Josie Bassett’s character Jane.
Lauren Gussis of “Dexter” and “Insatiable” fame is set to write and executive produce the revival, which would see the “Og residents” returning when one of their friends die. Per the logline, the reunion “uncovers old traumas, rekindles old romances,...

Tis the season to be scary and Screambox has got you covered with a trio of brand-spanking-new Christmas-themed horror movies that go perfectly with cookies and milk in front of a warm fire.
Now streaming on Screambox from the director of Jason Goes to Hell is Secret Santa and the awesomely creepy anthology Night of the Missing.
That’s not all! Just in time for Christmas break, Santastein will make the long winter’s nights anything but silent on Dec. 19.
Since Black Christmas, holiday films have been a refreshing sub-genre within horror. These films offer a much-needed contrast to the “all is well” narrative that is so often depicted in seasonal films. The angst and anxiety of holiday horror offer a cathartic release because for many the holidays are not perfect, and we don’t see ourselves in the yuletide rom-coms.

Horror fans will recognize Adam Marcus as the director of Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday and the co-writer of Texas Chainsaw 3D, two divisive but oft-discussed entries in their respective franchises. He recently returned to the genre to helm Secret Santa, a holiday horror-comedy streaming exclusively on Screambox.
The final installment in our three-part interview with the raconteur focuses on Secret Santa and the trials and tribulations of independent filmmaking. He also teases several projects that are in the works, including a monstrous collaboration with special effects legend Robert Kurtzman.
Secret Santa was born out of Marcus and his writing partner/wife Debra Sullivan’s frustration with the lack of creative control they had on their two previously produced screenplays, 2013’s Texas Chainsaw and 2015’s Momentum. “Artistically, it just started to feel really hollow. I was like, ‘Did I get into this to make money, or did I...

The frightful weather outside has nothing on the family gathering in Secret Santa. Adam Marcus, who is best known for unleashing the gonzo Friday the 13th entry Jason Goes to Hell upon the world, truly outdid himself with this over-the-top Christmas horror movie. Which is saying a lot considering the events of Jason Voorhees’ sole ‘90s outing. After some time away from the genre, though, Marcus returned in 2018 with a comedy as black as coal. Christmas cynics will naturally be drawn to the promise of a family going off the deep end during the holidays. However, this seasonal shocker may prove to be too much even for the biggest of scrooges.
For many folks, Christmas is the most joyous time of the year. For April Pope (A. Leslie Kies) and other members of her family, it’s the most dreadful. The director’s own internal struggle with Christmas is channeled...

It's time to start getting in the Christmas spirit - at least, according to the Hallmark Channel, which released its full slate of holiday movies on Sept. 19. This year's crop of films features a number of new faces and fresh plots to immerse you in the scent of pine trees and the sound of Christmas carols, as well as some relatively familiar faces, such as John Travolta's sister Ellen, who stars in "Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up."
Hallmark will begin airing its holiday movies on Oct. 20, starting with "Checkin' It Twice," a romance that follows a real estate agent who falls in love with a hockey player. The 40 films will air on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 8 p.m. Et, with additional features also airing every Thursday on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel, with a few exceptions. Hallmark has revealed that it will have 40 all-new, original movies for both its flagship channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, as well as special content for Hallmark Movies Now, the company’s subscription streaming service.
Even though the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes impacted TV and film productions, Hallmark anticipated the labor dispute by getting a head start on production in Canada. “Christmas is a year-round business at Hallmark, so we were able to mitigate early in the year understanding that the strikes were unfortunately imminent,” Lisa Hamilton Daly, EVP of programming at Hallmark Media, was recently quoted as saying. “We’re grateful to meet all our goals for a full, all-new holiday slate and to bring our viewers the content they love most to celebrate the season.”

Regarding the return of Magnum P.I., it's a good news-bad news situation for fans.
Let's go with the good news first. Unlike many scripted programs, the second half of the NBC series' fifth season will return on Oct. 4, earlier than was previously announced.
The bad news is that these episodes are likely the end for the Magnum reboot. After saving the show following its cancellation by CBS, NBC managed to run it into the ground before canceling it yet again. Yup, it's been that kind of season for Magnum.
Here's everything we know about the probable Magnum final ride.
Has Magnum P.I. been renewed?
No, sadly, just the opposite. It's been a roller-coaster couple of years for those involved with Magnum.
For four seasons, the Jay Hernandez-starrer was a pretty sturdy performer for CBS. Granted, ratings expectations for Friday prime-time are a fairly low bar.

Magnum P.I. is back and sexier than ever. NBC has been teasing juicier storylines in the show’s fifth season, the first at its new network home after it was unceremoniously canceled by CBS after last year’s season 4 finale. When Magnum P.I. jumps to NBC later this season, Michael Rady will be along for the ride.
TV Line reported Monday that the Timeless, Melrose Place, and Chicago Med veteran would be a part of the highly-anticipated fifth season.
The outlet states that he will play Detective Childs of the Honolulu Pd in a recurring capacity.
Rady is a popular actor who has appeared in many beloved projects, so there is undoubtedly a lot of excitement about his role on the CBS-turned-nbc procedural.
Magnum P.I. was canceled by CBS earlier this year, despite commanding strong ratings (to the tune of 7.3 million viewers and a 0.7 rating) on Fridays.
The numbers were relatively stable vs. its previous season, but the show was not owned by CBS.
“Every year, there’s a couple of tough ones, and this was one of them,” CBS president Kelly Kahl told The Wrap following the controversial decision.

NBC’s La Brea opened Season 2 this week by unleashing fresh drama in the form of, yes, a new tribe of jackholes and a pair of warring rhinos. But it also caught viewers off-guard with a personal predicament for Izzy Harris, who is an amputee.
In the course of hoofing it from (what she, Gavin and Ella thought was) Seattle circa 10,000 B.C. to Los Angeles, Calif., Izzy lost her footing, and in doing so accidentally put enough pressure on her left leg prosthetic to make the socket crack.

Scott Shannon is the King Kong of rock and roll radio. The new feature-length documentary Worst to First: The True Story of Z100 New York describes how he arrived in New York to save a bottom-place radio station, and turned it into a major media force.
“Coming to you live from the top of the Empire State Building,” like every other New York station sharing the city’s antenna, Z100 was one of the eight wonders of the radio world. The DJs broadcast from the swamps of New Jersey, when the Meadowlands might as well have been Skull Island, on-air talent had to buy their own records, and the station wasn’t on rotation when musicians came to town to promote shows. Shannon and his fellow radio personalities turned it into a first-stop music shop.
Jon Bon Jovi, Joan Jett, and Nile Rodgers, who are interviewed in the documentary, broke through because of Z100 airplay.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Chicago Med Season 7, Episode 9, “Secret Santa Has a Gift for You.”] The Chicago Med winter finale made it look like Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) would do something to risk his career (yet again), but then the episode delivered a bombshell in its final moments—at the hospital’s Christmas bash! After attending the tree lighting with Jessa (Angela Wong Carbone), Will goes back to her place, ostensibly to try her new eggnog recipe, and gets her to admit that Dr. Matt Cooper (Michael Rady) received kickbacks essentially for every VasCom device ordered. And unbeknownst to Jessa, Will was taping every word, which he soon plays for Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) and Peter Kalmick (Marc Grapey). It’s enough to take to the FBI, right? First, Peter insists on talking to the board. (One member: Cooper’s father-in-law!) As Peter does that, Will learns that Matt has plans to...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Chicago Med Season 7 premiere “You Can’t Always Trust What You See.”] Surprise — Chicago Med actually officially says goodbye to one of the original cast members we thought left at the end of last spring’s finale in the opening scene of the Season 7 premiere. The episode also reveals just how Will (Nick Gehlfuss) will be rejoining the hospital staff, and he’s not entirely comfortable with it. First, Will helps Natalie (Torrey DeVitto) pack up her car and sees her and her son off as they move away. It seems he takes her advice that he needs to return to the hospital because he calls Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson). Lucky for him, this comes as she’s questioning another doctor’s (Michael Rady‘s Cooper) usage of a cardiac output monitor. It’s a pricy machine, and other monitors are just as good, Will tells Sharon. She worries...

If you're already adrift without another Hallmark Original Series to watch, you're not alone.
But we have good news today as Crown Media announced new original programming and some renewals we've been waiting for.
Most importantly, there are two renewals to announce that join When Calls the Heart for (fingers crossed) a 2021 release.
Good Witch will return for a seventh season, and Chesapeake Shores will return for a fifth season!
Hurrah!
As you know, Good Witch Season 6 just ended on quite the cliffhanger.
It was the first season in which Bailee Madison didn't appear as Grace, and in Rhys Matthew Bond only made guest appearances as Nick.
Without the younger cast, the adults got a lot more storylines, and love flourished.
Cassie (Catherine Bell) and Sam (James Denton) celebrated their one-year anniversary and began to grow under each other's influence.
The proved that there is always something left to learn about your partner.
