Exclusive: Lionsgate and Grindstone Entertainment have acquired rights to the comedy The Duel, exec produced by and starring Dylan Sprouse (Beautiful Disaster), in North America, as well as all other English-speaking and Latin American territories.
Marking Sprouse’s first project as EP, the film will hit theaters via Lionsgate and Iconic Releasing at the end of July. In support of its release, a number of cast members will be in attendance this weekend at the Indy 500 parade, which will include a car and racing helmets themed to the film. Those expected to attend include Sprouse, Hart Denton (Riverdale), Maria Gabriela de Faria (upcoming Superman), Rachel Matthews (Frozen II) and Christian McGaffney (Simón).

Howdy, pardners! After Lionsgate’s Grindstone Entertainment Group gained the North American rights to Dead Man’s Hand, Stephen Dorff, Jack Kilmer (The Nice Guys), and Cole Hauser Yellowstone) are saddling up for roles in the newly-acquired Western. The film hails from Milestone Studios and, according to Deadline, revolves around a retired gunslinger named Reno (Kilmer), who teams up with a new marshall (Hauser) to take down a cruel cattle baron, Mayor Clarence Bishop (Dorff).
Deadline’s description continues, “Reno, a newly married gunfighter, hangs up his six shooters when he says “I do” to his bride, Vegas. But when Reno kills a bandit in self-defense, he finds himself pulled back into his old ways. The bandit’s brother, the ruthless Mayor Bishop, will not let his brother’s death go unpunished. Angel Oak Films has finalised a raft of sales including North America, Latin America and Spain on upcoming Aaron Eckhart and Terrence Howard dramatic thriller Afterward.
The new Los Angeles and Brussels-based production outfit headed by Pascal Borno and Alain Gillissen has licensed North and Latin American rights to Grindstone Entertainment Group.

Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi’s Ambi Media Group is re-teaming with Kirk Harris and Marty Poole’s Fairway Films Alliance to finance and produce a sequel to “Bernie the Dolphin.”
Lola Sultan, Patrick Muldoon, Logan Allen, Kevin Sorbo, and Dahlia Legault (“The Walking Dead”) will reprise their roles in the family dolphin adventure. Ambi Distribution, the worldwide sales arm of the Ambi Media Group, will be introducing the project to international distributors at the American Film Market, which opened Oct. 31.
“Bernie the Dolphin 2” will shoot on location at Marineland Dolphin Adventure in St. Augustine, Fla., as well as in St. Petersburg-Clearwater starting in December.

The new wave will include Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier in April, Maleficent in May and Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy (pictured) in August.

I’m hearing that Friedkin is pretty much committed to do the film. Friedkin, who has helmed some of the great action crime thrillers – To Live And Die In La and The French Connection – will make this his follow-up to Killer Joe. Following the murder of his wife, Stanley (Cage) finds that the police are unable to catch the perpetrators. He uncovers a thick plot of police corruption and realizes that he will have to find justice on his own. As he awakens to the level of degradation of the people sworn to serve and protect, we get a little Rage in the Cage as he becomes a vigilante out to destroy those who abuse their power.

Cannes -- Grindstone Entertainment Group, a division of Lionsgate, has acquired all North American distribution rights to writer-director Andrew Paquin's debut feature, "Open House." The psychological thriller had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in April and is scheduled for release in August.
Brian Geraghty, Rachel Blanchard, Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer and Tricia Helfer star in the story of a woman whose open house draws a pair of sociopaths who hide her away in her own home.
Stonebrook Entertainment's Jack Schuster and Danny Roth produced the film along with Das Films' Mitchell Goldman. Das Films' Sriram Das and Grindstone's Barry Brooker and Stan Wertlieb are exec producers.
The deal was brokered by Schuster with Brooker and Wertlieb. Delphine Perrier of Stonebrook is repping the film internationally; it will screen Wednesday as part of the market.
