So, the first 'Smurfs' trailer is out. You would think they would have done something better for a first-time-look at the adaptation of the beloved series. We don't something too revealing, but perhaps having them in a more familiar environment would have been more efficient. Raja Gosnell directs the Columbia Pictures film from the writing by J. David Stern and David N. Weiss based on the characters created by Peyo. Providing voices are Jayma Mays, Neil Patrick Harris, Katy Perry, Sofia Vergara, Anton Yelchin, Hank Azaria, Alan Cumming, B.J. Novak, Paul Reubens, George Lopez and Jonathan Winters among others.

Tim Gunn has joined "The Smurfs" for Columbia Pictures. The "Project Runway" mentor joins a cast that includes Hank Azaria, Anton Yelchin, Alan Cumming, Neil Patrick Harris, Fred Armisen, Paul Reubens, Julia Sweeney, Sofía Vergara, Katy Perry, Jonathan Winters, George Lopez and Jayma Mays. Raja Gosnell ("Beverly Hills Chihuahua," "Yours, Mine, Ours") directs from the screenplay by J. David Stern and David N. Weiss based on the characters created by Peyo. Producing is Jordan Kerner ("Charlotte's Web," "Snow Dogs"). The film is shooting in New York for a release on July 29th next year. The Smurfs (in French "Les Schtroumpfs") is based on the children's TV series and the characters created by Peyo. Tells of a group of small blue creatures with white hats who undertake bold adventures. They include Papa Smurf, Grouchy Smurf, Handy Smurf, Lazy Smurf, Doctor Smurf, Dreamy Smurf and more.
