Any competition must have rules, and American Idol is no exception. From the time contestants audition all the way to the season finale, they must agree to and adhere to a set of rules in order to keep things fair and avoid controversy (although American Idol has had its share of controversies over the years). A handful of contestants have been disqualified in the past for breaking these rules. Here are some examples.
Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Iam Tongi on ‘American Idol’ | Eric McCandless/ABC ‘American Idol’ contestants must be within the age limits
The minimum and maximum age requirements on American Idol have changed over the years. Idol used to be open to anyone between the ages of 16 and 24. Then, the age range opened up, so anyone between 15 and 28 years old could audition.
This is a strict rule on American Idol, so anyone caught lying about their age will be disqualified,...

Recently, a former American Idol contestant made headlines as she filed a lawsuit against the ABC show. It’s not the first time the competition has landed in hot water in the last 20 years. Here’s more on the lawsuit, plus other American Idol scandals and controversies that have haunted the singing show since it began in 2002.

Last year, a gaming live-streamer named Normandy Vamos auditioned for American Idol Season 20. She left an impression on judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan with her unique fashion sense and high-pitched speaking voice that changed into a deep, soulful sound as she sang. Vamos earned a golden ticket to Hollywood but later claimed she was uninvited. Her audition also went viral.

In an effort to shake it up like a stiff (no longer Absolut) cocktail, Ru changed the game for this edition of Drag Race. For starters, the premiere will take place over two weeks, with one batch of queens arriving the first week and facing elimination. From one reality show performance to another. Danny Noriega, whom you might remember from season seven of American Idol, will be a contestant on the upcoming season of RuPaul's Drag Race. He'll be appearing as his drag alter ego Adore Delano, and sadly lip-synching (not singing) for his life. (If you're struggling to remember Danny on Idol, here's a video that sums it all up. He is adorable.)...

What a difference a few years (and a Very good wig) makes!"American Idol" Season 7 alum Danny Noriega will compete in a totally different reality TV show these days -- with a totally different look.Noriega, who made a name for himself thanks to his witty banter with Simon Cowell back in 2008, will compete in the sixth season of "RuPaul's Drag Race" as his alter-ego Adore Delano.Sporting a giant pink wig, a leather skirt, tattoos and a fierce face, the 24-year-old looks ready to lip-sync for her life. "She's very, very vulgar, crazy. She's a party animal," Noriega told Yahoo! about performing as Adore. "She's fun. Just like no f---s are given, you know? Everything I can't do as Danny, I can do as her. She's just punk-rock. She's a punk-rock mermaid!"We can't wait to see her in action when "RuPaul's Drag Race" returns to Logo in February.

It's about that time, hunties.
As we impatiently await the arrival of FebRUary, the good folks at Logo have finally given us the first official trailer for Season 6 of "RuPaul's Drag Race" and it looks sickening.
EW has the whole roster of queens, which mostly lines up with the rumored cast list that was floating around in June. (10 out of 12 -- not too shabby.) The most notable queen? Adore Delano, who you may remember as former "American Idol" finalist Danny Noriega.
Check out the outrageous supertease above.

Things get catty — quite literally — in the new trailer for RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 6 that premiered earlier today on EW.com (which has the full roster of contestants).
Set to the tune of “Amazing” by Hi Fashion*, the clip features a new cadre of queens transforming into their alter egos, while Her Royal RuNess morphs into a ferocious panther. (*That tune might ring a bell, since it was used in Chloe’s legendary “Toast” — err, Toh-est, video.)
Press play below for the glittery, explosive shenanigans, which will include American Idol Season 7 grad Danny Noriega — competing as Adore Delano.

With Jinkx Monsoon's Season 5 win firmly a thing of the past, anticipation for Season 6 of "RuPaul's Drag Race" has reached near fever pitch. While Logo hasn't even announced a premiere date (though the new season will likely follow those that have come before it and bow late January, 2014), the show is rumored to be currently in production, causing a flurry of casting rumors.
A website called Buzzsauce claims to have determined which 12 drag queens will be gunning for the title in Season 6, utilizing the very scientific method of noting who has been quiet on social media. Below are the dozen names thought to be filming now, though be sure to take it all with a grain of salt.
1. Adriana Le Glam
It's noted that this fishy (meaning: very feminine) queen from NYC, while rumored to be on the show, has remained quite active on social media. So, there goes that whole process Buzzsauce used.

RuPaul's Drag Race kicked off its fifth season with a gigantic fishtank photo shoot and a dumpster-diving fashion show, two challenges that require stunt athleticism and survival instincts. While Roxxxy Andrews ran off with the season's first victory, it was hard to celebrate knowing that the episode's loser was the instantly likable Penny Tration, a.k.a. Tony Cody from Cincinnati, Oh. Penny was voted onto RuPaul's Drag Race by fans (even though another queen named Adore Delano, a.k.a the fabulous Danny Noriega from season seven of American Idol , garnered more votes but wasn't selected as a contestant for undisclosed reasons), and thus her potential seemed unlimited. Unfortunately, a couture challenge and a Miley Cyrus lip-sync snafu sent her sashaying away, and now we're left to discuss the whole ordeal with the lovely queen herself.

Nine black, former "American Idol" contestants have reportedly accused the Fox series of racism and are planning to sue.
TMZ obtained a letter submitted to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission by New York attorney James Freeman, requesting permission to sue Fox and the show on behalf of his nine clients. In the letter, Freeman claims there is a racist pattern in the "Idol" disqualification process.
Freeman alleges that only nine "Idol" contestants had been publicly disqualified since the show debuted in 2002, and all happened to be black. He claims the show enacted a "cruel and inhumane" scheme, which included background checks and arrest inquiries, to humiliate the contestants on live TV and perpetuate "destructive stereotypes" that made his clients appear to be "violent criminals, liars and sexual deviants."
Nigel Lythgoe, producer of "American Idol," told TMZ he was "shocked" by the "ridiculous" allegations.

Freeman claims he became suspicious of "Idol" when Jermaine Jones was kicked off the show in 2012, during Season 11. Producers claimed it was because Jones failed to inform them about outstanding warrants for his arrest. Freeman alleges that "Idol" has been conducting a "cruel and inhumane" scheme to exploit black contestants for ratings.
