“The Wonder Years” reboot will not return for a third season at ABC, TheWrap has learned.
The network has chosen to cancel the sitcom starring Elisha “Ej” Williams, Dulé Hill and Saycon Sengbloh, which ran for two seasons. The cancellation comes just over a month after the coming-of-age drama aired the finale for its sophomore season, which saw the Williams family head to Disneyland.
Debuting its first season in September 2021, the reimagining of the ’80s series of the same name similarly centered on the Black middle-class Williams family during the late ’60s in Montgomery, Al. Don Cheadle narrated the series an adult Dean Williams while Elisha “Ej” Williams played 12-year-old Dean onscreen.
In May 2022, controversy came over the show as executive producer and director Fred Savage — who starred in the original series — was fired after multiple allegations of inappropriate conduct. While specifics regarding the misconduct were not revealed at the time,...

Winston Churchill, Harriet Jones, Harold Saxon... As we all head to the voting booths, how have UK prime ministers fared in Doctor Who?
Incarnations of the Doctor are a bit like British prime ministers. They usually last four to five years in real time and, despite having different faces, a cynic could say that they're all pretty much the same beneath the surface. But that's the stuff of Media Studies dissertations, in fact, Doctor Who has a far dimmer view of the UK executive in the show itself.
Over the course of fifty-odd years, the office of prime minister has been both the target and agent of satire and parody in a show that deals with an onslaught of alien activity on British soil in the past, present and future.
As we're all going to the polls today to pick who we want in Downing Street, here's our look back...

Testament of Youth star says strong female roles are “rare” today.
Swedish actress Alicia Vikander has said she “fought hard” for the role of iconic British writer Vera Brittain in World War One biopic Testament of Youth, in part due to the rarity of strong female film roles today.
Speaking at the BFI Southbank last night as part of the ‘BFI Presents’ series, the in-demand actress said: “I fought hard for this role…I met James [director James Kent] just before Christmas 2013. We went for dinner and I just came in there ready saying ‘I know that I’m Swedish but I can do this so please give me the chance’.
“You know, it’s rare, it’s so rare to find strong female roles in film nowadays”, she continued.
“So when you get one of those scripts on your table it’s just an instant love.”

As the film of Testament of Youth hits cinema screens, the daughter of its author, Vera Brittain, talks about growing up in the shadow of the ghosts of the first world war
One of Baroness Williams’s earliest memories is the clacking of her mother’s typewriter. Her mother, Vera Brittain, would retreat to her study in the family’s Chelsea home at 10 each morning, having already dealt with the day’s correspondence and bills. She would then spend the next seven hours writing the book that would make her famous.
“I was firmly told not to interrupt her between 10 and five, unless there was an extreme reason why,” says Williams as she sits at one end of a conference table in her Westminster offices, with a copy of that day’s Guardian and a cup of instant coffee in front of her. “Even as quite a young child, I...

For those of you who haven't seen The Day of the Doctor yet: begone from this place, and get ye to iPlayer. What kept you?
For yes - as was mentioned once or twice by people who I wish to be locked in a room with Dimensions in Time for perpetuity - Tom Baker was back on our screens in Doctor Who, ostensibly playing the curator of the National Gallery. The conversation that ensues is delightfully enigmatic, hinting at one explanation and then undercutting it. The 49-year-old screenwriter and director on politics, comedy characters and why he refuses to work weekends
There's probably no other comedy character who has lasted as long as Alan Partridge. Though he's not always been on screen in his 22 years, when Steve Coogan and I meet up we'll always fill in the gaps and speculate about what he's been up to. His life runs simultaneous to ours.
I grew up in the Glasgow Hillhead constituency which, for a political geek, was like going to Glastonbury. We had Roy Jenkins in a by-election in 1982, Edward Heath speaking, Tony Benn. Then you'd bump into Shirley Williams.
Anger has to be in my comedy. Blair and the Iraq war was the first demo I had been on since I was a student – a lot of that went into The Thick of It.
I refuse to work evenings or weekends. If a script sees my character meeting for dinner,...

BBC media correspondent Torin Douglas's colleagues really made sure his leaving party at Broadcasting House was memorable on Tuesday night, thanks to a video montage of his career and 24 years at the BBC, concluding with a tribute clip from Michael Douglas saying: "nobody has done more for the media than my cousin, Torin". And, no, it wasn't some clever virtual reality trick. The recording was provided by the enterprising Mark Savage, producer for BBC arts editor Will Gompertz, who persuaded the star to play along and make the sound bite at last month's Cannes film festival, where he was promoting his new movie.
