Love Island won't be Love Island without original love god Lee Sharpe and accidental comedian Paul Danan... were our first thoughts as the return of the decade-old dating show was announced.
But we were wrong. So very wrong.
Love Island 2015: Did Max and Jess deserve to win?
For six solid weeks, we were hooked on the tears and drama as romantic relationships formed and drastically unravelled. We cringed (and sniggered) at the unashamed sexual antics, the accompanying sound effects and dodgy post-coital lines - "my vagina feels like it's just been hit by a train" - which often took place unapologetically in the communal bedroom.
How we were entertained as desperate contestants attempted to couple up with anybody available just to stay on the show. What car crash television gold we were delivered when producers decided to bring in a contestant's spurned and bitter ex.

ITV2 have finally answered our requests - original Celebrity Love Islander Paul Danan will be returning on tonight's live show.
The 36-year-old former Hollyoaks star appeared on the first ever celebrity edition of the series back in 2005, which saw him compete against eventual winners Jayne Middlemiss and Fran Cosgrave.
Danan returned to the show a year later, and spent the majority of his time tearfully fighting with or really fancying former model Sophie Anderton.
After one memorable blow-out, he was even escorted off set by security after he discovered that fellow celebrity contestants had all pretended that Anderton really liked him when in fact she just wanted to be friends. Or enemies.
And who can forget her somewhat dismissive observation: "You can do sit-ups?"
Danan also had some heated exchanges with retired basketball star Dennis Rodman and another former Hollyoaks actor, Lee Otway, during his time on the show.

After hearing the announcement that Calum Best would be returning to his spiritual home of Love Island - our immediate reaction was: 'But what about his accidental comedic sidekick Paul Danan?!'
And it seems that we're not alone.
Paul appears eager to head back to the villa to recapture the tears, terrible rapping and Sophie Anderton back-stabbing from the celebrity edition of the show.
Upon hearing the incredible news that Calum would be coming back to Love Island for a cameo, Paul Danan was immediately on to ITV2 via Twitter.

He had backup from fans yearning for the glory days of Calum, Fran and Dangerous Danan - arguably one of the defining reality shows of the mid-noughties.

Remember the first ever Love Island with its seemingly clueless single celebrities constantly bickering on a tumultuous and stormy (literally and metaphorically) Fijian island?
Even the show's co-hosts Kelly Brook and Patrick Kielty were baying for one another's blood when Kielty decided to declare during one live show that Brook had previously dated contestant Paul Danan.
Other memorable highlights included Abi Titmuss becoming more and more enraged as Fran Cosgrave repeatedly referred to her as Vanessa Feltz, swiftly followed by a tipsy and uncouth Rebecca Loos letting rip.
The series aired almost exactly a decade ago, so we found ourselves wondering - whatever happened to eventual winner Jayne Middlemiss? And the Love Island love god that was Lee Sharpe?
As the new non-celebrity series currently enjoys its ITV2 revival, we find out what the 12 star contestants have gone on to do since their 2005 stint below:

Non-stop flatulence, a dead possum, and being too darn sexy. Are these the most ridiculous I'm a Celebrity fights in the history of the jungle?
After Croc campmates Melanie Sykes and Vicki Michelle bickered over a pencil in last night's show (November 26), we reminisce over some of the silliest spats over the years.
From Brian Harvey's continual wind to Darren Day being too darn sexy - here are 10 absurd jungle rumbles:
1. Darren Day's too sexy for the jungle?
Sizzling sexual chemistry or far too much flatulence? It was almost impossible to keep up with Darren Day and Tara Palmer-Tomkinson's love/hate relationship in the 2002 series.
Palmer-Tomkinson shocked the entire nation as she revealed the root of their tension was all down to Day's unbridled sexiness, shouting: "I'll tell you why I am very uptight. It's because I think you are so f**king sexy."

Tinchy Strider, Gemma Collins, Melanie Sykes and Michael Buerk (What?) were all confirmed to be taking part in I'm a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! this afternoon.
But in a few years, will we even remember them? Unless they pull some Paul Burrell or Gillian McKeith-style stunts, frankly it's unlikely.
Why? Because we completely forgot these 9 big names have been there, done that and swallowed the testicles…
9. Neil Ruddock
Long after Razor stopped playing for Liverpool, but before he was taking part in Celebrity Big Brother, we forgot that he came seventh on the ITV show. He also 'starred' in a recent episode of C5's Can't Pay? We'll Take it Away, in which he had his stuff respossessed by bailiffs. So, unlike most celebs, the jungle didn't prove to be the lowest point in Neil's career.

"Yeah, Jackie," were the only two words uttered from the side of Jackie's heavily siliconed mouth as she entered the house, draped in fur and dripping in jewels. Her entrance soon became one of the most memorable moments from the entire series.
It was part-Jackie's presence, part-Jackie's face that really shocked Brigitte Nielsen back on the show in 2005 when her former mother-in-law entered the house on day five.

Celebrity Big Brother winner Charlotte Crosby missed the wrap party last night.
The Geordie Shore star, who was crowned champion in Friday's final, was nowhere to be seen as the cast and crew celebrated the end of the series at Gilgamesh in London.
Housemates including Lauren Harries, Mario Falcone, Louie Spence, Sophie Anderton and Bruce Jones did make it to the event.
Crosby later hinted on Twitter that her evening hadn't gone to plan, writing:
This has been possibly one of the worst nights Ever!
— Charlotte-Letitia (@CharlotteGShore) September 16, 2013
She had been spotted on a shopping trip with Falcone earlier in the day.
Following the party, first evictee Danielle Marr accused Anderton of trying to attack her - claims that a spokesperson for the model denied.
A rep for Anderton told Digital Spy: "Sophie did not attack Danielle in any way last night. Danielle sent one of her friends over to antagonise Sophie.

Sophie Anderton was the third contestant to be evicted from the Celebrity Big Brother house last night (September 4).

Carol McGiffin has re-entered the Celebrity Big Brother house after being fake evicted.
A twist saw the housemates choose who to evict between her and Mario Falcone.

Declaring it was "payback time", Big Brother then announced that she would have to nominate someone to go up for eviction.
McGiffin announced she would like to nominate Courtney Stodden.
She gave the reason: "You could not get your head around the fact you had the biggest treat in the house yet weren't willing to pay for it."
She also addressed Stodden's claims that the pair had never had a proper conversation, saying: "We will never have a proper conversation as long as there are mirrors around."

"Who cares, and I am not lying, you need to see pictures of my mum," Sophie said, before going inside the house.

Bruce Jones, Lauren Harries, Courtney Stodden, Sophie Anderton and Louie Spence are up for eviction on 'Celebrity Big Brother'. The former 'Coronation Street' star - who has sparked health fears in the house following a series of outbursts at his fellow housemates - received the most nominations with four after Charlotte Crosby, Carol McGiffin, Louie Spence and Mario Falcone selected the 60-year-old star. The other four housemates all received a hat-trick of votes each with Five singer Abz Love nominating beauties Courtney and Sophie, who also put up the busty blonde. Mario Falcone and Charlotte Crosby were punished by Celebrity Big Brother after they defaced Carol McGiffin's lightbox in the house.
The reality TV stars used eyeliner to draw a penis on Carol's face, before adding a moustache and glasses to Louie Spence's photo.
The pair then decided to deface their own lightboxes, with Mario drawing teeth and steam on his, and a giant breast on Charlotte's.
Mario and Charlotte were then summoned to the diary room where they were instructed by Big Brother to draw comedy glasses and a beard on each others' faces until further notice.
The 25-year-old Towie star has previously confessed to having a crush on Carol, adding that the former Loose Woman panelist has"amazing" legs.

Celebrity Big Brother's Bruce Jones has reacted angrily to the latest rule break in the house.
The former Coronation Street star ranted in the diary room after discovering that Sophie Anderton and Courtney Stodden had discussed nominations with each other.
The pair were sent to jail by Big Brother after revealing that they nominated each other in the first round of nominations earlier this week.
Big Brother also announced that the house would be punished with no hot water, no access to the gym and no electrical appliances until further notice.
Bruce hit out at Sophie, saying that "for someone who doesn't drink she sure makes a f**king fool of herself".
During a conversation with Carol McGiffin, he said that he thinks the pair should be humiliated.
Carol said: "F**king idiots! I'm just sick of it. If you break the rules, they won't let you go home...

Celebrity Big Brother's Lauren Harries has told fellow housemate Sophie Anderton that she is "fed up" with her domineering ways.
Lauren decided to speak her mind after a conversation with television presenter Carol McGiffin, who said she was also growing tired of Sophie's attitude in the house.
"Sophie, I am fed up with you. All you do is boss me around all the time," Lauren began.
Sophie retorted: "What did I do? I am not the one putting pills into people's mouths," referring to Lauren's earlier warning for sharing medication with Courtney Stodden.
"I haven't even spoken to you today," she added.
"Do you know why?" said Lauren. "Because I avoid you, because all you do is boss people around and think you are the most intelligent person in the world.
"I need to say something to you because do you know what, you think you know everything.

"I didn't want to be stuck in a house with people making racist comments, boffing the heads off each other, getting off their faces every night and urinating in their beds."

Danielle Marr became the first contestant to be evicted from the Big Brother house on last night's (August 28) live show.
We have to admit that upon discovering Marr was entering the house in our immediate reaction was a puzzled 'pardon?', 'eh?' and then, 'who?'
'Dermaskin clinic director' and 'celebrity Botox doctor' still left us clueless, so our expectations of entertainment from the reality TV star and beautician were fairly low.
But despite our initial disappointment, Danielle did deliver some funny and memorable moments - albeit not always intentionally - so we take a look back at her 7 best bits below.
Sophie Anderton confrontation
When Danielle found out that supposed friend and Cult of Celebrity member Sophie Anderton had put her up for nomination, fresh hell broke loose. Marr marched to the diary room and inquired, "Who the f**k does Sophie f***ing Anderton think she f***ing is?...

Irish Reality Television star Danielle Marr became the first housemate to be evicted in the latest edition of Celebrity Big Brother.
Marr – who made her name (apparently) on a show about Irish Housewives – faced stiff competition from boring but likeable Ron ‘I’m not racist’ Atkinson and Vicky Entwistle who the world knows better as Janice Battersby after being nominated to go by the ‘Cult of Celebrity’ house mates Sophie Anderton, Louis Spence and Lauren Harries.
It became apparent Ms Marr may be first to face the chop after crowds waiting outside the house began chanting “Get Danielle out”. Despite doing very little in the house (which is saying something) the Irish celebrity proved extremely unpopular with fans of the show and was greeted upon her eviction by a chorus of boos.

She was introduced as a notorious a party girl, but last night Charlotte Crosby's Celebrity Big Brother housemates were left wondering whether her drunken display was all just an act.
The Geordie Shore lass had to be carried by Mario Falcone and Sophie Anderton to her bed, which she then repeatedly fell out of, smacking her head on various fixtures and giggling like a loon the whole time.
Loose Women star Carol McGiffin, however, was not convinced, telling the group: "She's used to having to fake.
"When she's on Geordie Shore she really has to do that, otherwise her life is just a hideous merry-go-round of staying up and going out.
"She's admitted in here that everybody wants her to go out and get drunk every night and she doesn't want to, so she has to fake passing out. She's doing it now, she's lying. She's a fake, she's a fake.
