Exclusive: Carl Clemons-Hopkins, one of the Emmy-nominated stars of Max’s Emmy-winning comedy Hacks, has signed with Independent Artist Group for representation.

On Hacks, Clemons-Hopkins portrays Marcus Vaughan, the loyal, hardworking and highly organized head of the management team repping famed Las Vegas stand-up Deborah Vance (Jean Smart). For their work opposite Smart and Hannah Einbinder, they earned their first Emmy nomination back in 2021, becoming the first out, gender non-binary actor to be recognized in any category. To date, Clemons-Hopkins has also been nominated for a pair of SAG Awards as part of the ensemble.

Hacks returned for its third season in May and has already been renewed for a fourth.

Filmmaker Juan Pablo Di Pace discussed the meaning behind his new semi-autobiographical film Duino in his new uInterview.

Duino, which premiered at the LGBTQ Newfest film festival in New York City, follows an Argentinian filmmaker as he struggles to complete a film about his unrequited first love with a schoolmate. When he unexpectedly is offered the opportunity to reconstruct his memories, he revisits the past in the hope of finding a new ending to his story.

Di Pace, known for his roles in Fuller House and Momma Mia, gave some insight into his decision to step behind the camera for this movie to fulfill his childhood dream of directing:

“I’ve been in the kind of actor-performer seat for 23 years now, I think, but since childhood, I really wanted to direct,” di Pace told uInterview founder Erik Meers.

The world is full of love stories, but when you’re straight, there are lots of different narratives to choose from. For people whose first love is someone of the same sex, especially if they came of age in the 20th Century, it’s a little different. Such a high proportion of those stories are anchored in tragedy of one sort or another that it’s easy to start shaping one’s own story to fit. Unrequited love is a bigger risk for gay and bisexual people, and speaking up also entails a different kind of risk – or certainly did - but how many of us end up using that as an excuse? There’s a temptation to romanticise situations by writing them off as hopeless – and in the process, perhaps, to miss out on something special.

Exclusive: After making his feature directorial debut with The Mattachine Family, Andy Vallentine has launched Huckleberry Media, an L.A.-based film and television production company with a commitment to creating daring narratives, crafting rich characters, and championing artistic innovation and inclusivity.

Joining him as a founding member is Andrew Richards, formerly of Imperative Entertainment, who will serve as VP of Film and Television Development.

In a statement to Deadline, Vallentine said, “Our mission with Huckleberry Media is to champion compelling, character-driven film and television projects. Following the recent success of The Mattachine Family, we’re excited to hit the ground running with a slate of titles that explore diverse human experiences, foster empathy, and challenge societal norms through entertaining and authentic storytelling.”

The Frameline Film Festival has announced the winners from its 2024 program.

The top honors went to Luke Gilford’s “National Anthem,” which took home the Outstanding First Feature Award, and Chloé Barreau’s “Fragments of a Life Loved,” which won Outstanding Documentary Feature.

Frameline, the world’s largest and longest-running LGBTQ film festival, ran from June 19–29, with 120 screenings, programs and events held in theaters across the Bay Area, including the Herbst Theatre and Palace of Fine Arts Theatre.

Highlights of the festival included the Castro Theatre’s first-ever celebration of Juneteenth — a block party that featured the official re-lighting of the venue’s iconic neon blade sign and marquee, performances from the all-Black drag collective and a special outdoor screening of “Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero.”

Exclusive: Juan Pablo Di Pace has joined the cast of Travesuras de la Niña Mala for the TelevisaUnivision streaming service ViX+. He will star opposite previously announced Macarena Achaga in the role of Ricardo Somocurcio.

Actor Juan Pablo Di Pace is gearing up to make his feature directorial debut with For Another Time, an LGBTQ+ romantic drama inspired by true events in his life, that will be exec produced by 99-year-old icon Norman Lear and his Act III Productions partner Brent Miller.

For Another Time is a coming-of-age story that follows Matías, a queer filmmaker who gets an unexpected invitation to revisit the family that forever influenced his past, forcing him to question the present while potentially changing his future.

Production on the film set in Duino, Italy and Buenos Aires, Argentina will kick off on February 26. Di Pace will play the present-day version of Matías, with another as-yet-undisclosed actor to play a younger version. Casting for additional roles is underway. Andres Pepe Estrada will co-direct the film and serve as its editor.

Norman Lear and his producing partner Brent Miller of Act III Productions have partnered with Juan Pablo Di Pace of Momento Films to launch Di Pace’s LGBTQ+ romantic drama, “For Another Time,” which will shoot on location in Duino, Italy, and Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Lear and Miller previously exec-produced Mexican film “Te Llevo Conmigo” (I Carry You With Me) and documentary “Rita Moreno: Just A Girl Who Decided to Go For It.”

The first feature from video and commercial director Andy Vallentine centers on the relationship between Thomas (Tortorella) and Oscar (Di Pace). While the pair are very much in love, they find, after their first foster child returns to his birth mother, that they have different ideas about what it means to make a family.

Vallentine is directing from a script by his husband Danny Vallentine, which is based on a story by the pair.

Hallmark’s autumn will be full of original titles as the network unveiled the film lineups for its Fall Harvest and Movie & Mysteries events.

In addition to the previously announced Roadhouse Romance, Hallmark’s Fall Harvest event will feature the weekly premieres of Taking The Reins, South Beach Love and more. The annual Fall Harvest programming event will run from Saturday, September 11 through Saturday, October 16.

From Sunday, September 12 through Sunday, October 17, Hallmark will debut thrilling mysteries each week, including One Summer starring Sam Page, Amanda Schull and Grey’s Anatomy alum Sarah Drew. Also part of the line up are Redemption In Cherry Springs, The Vows We Keep and One Summer.

Eric McCormack is joining Ktla anchor Jessica Holmes to host a Project Angel Food live telethon on July 17.

The station will broadcast the event, called Lead with Love 2021, from 7 Pm to 9 Pm, and it will be streamed live on Hulu, as well as the Ktla and Project Angel Food websites.

The event is presented by City National Bank and will raise money for expanded Project Angel Food service, with a client base of 2,300 per day, compared to 1,500 per day before the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. In a sign of what may be seen as an emerging, successful alternative to expensive red carpet charity events, Saturday night’s two-hour Lead With Love: Project Angel Food Emergency Telethon, which aired live on Ktla 5, smashed its fundraising goal. The virtual event exceeded its $500,000 goal by nearly $200,000, totaling more than $700,000 during the all-star event, at very little cost to the Hollywood-based nonprofit Project Angel Food.

A-list names, including Sir Elton John, David Furnish, Jamie Lee Curtis, Matt Bomer and Sharon Stone, contributed brief segments celebrating Project Angel Food’s contributions to Hollywood’s underserved community. Furnish and Curtis both mentioned bringing their families with them to volunteer at the facility, which prepares and delivers tens of thousands of meals each week to people in need.

The goal is to raise $500,000 to support Project Angel Food’s Covid-19 Emergency Relief Fund, set up for increased needs due to the coronavirus. In the past two months, the organization has gone from serving 1,600 people a day, to serving 2,000 people a day.

The hit Netflix comedy wrapped up with its fifth season last week. 

However, it has now been revealed that there were plans for a sixth season, and Candace Cameron Bure has expressed her "disappointment" over it not being produced. 

Netflix announced last year that the reboot of the hit ABC comedy would be wrapping up after its fifth season, despite rumors stating it was being canceled after Season 4. 

Cameron Bure is opening up about certain storylines that did not get the time they deserved following the decision wrap up the series. 

"The fact that we didn't highlight Dani, Stephanie's baby, very much in season five, to me that was a bit disappointing," she revealed to Insider.

"We understand why they didn't [show Stephanie parenting], but that was something that I would have wanted to see in season six, her truly raising a baby."

“Fuller House” is getting ready to end its fifth and final season, which means it’s finally time to say goodbye to the Tanner family. And the cast is paying homage to their “Full House” roots in a nostalgia-heavy trailer.

On Tuesday, Netflix released the trailer for the final episodes that will hit the platform on June 2. It’s a walk down memory lane, and viewers can revisit the time when they first met Danny, DJ, Stephanie, Michelle, Uncle Jessy, Joey and Kimmy Gibbler way back in 1987.

The only one missing from the throwback is Lori Loughlin, who played Aunt Becky in the original series and in the first four seasons of the reboot. The actress left the show after she was indicted and pleaded not guilty in the college admissions bribery case.
