- Father of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
- Composer and an internationally-recognized instructor. His treatise on violin instruction, "Violinschule" (1756), was translated into several languages and became a standard text throughout Europe.
- His wife and his mother shared the same name, Anna Maria.
- Upon her death, Constanze Weber, whom Wolfgang married against Leopold's wishes, was buried beside Leopold in Salzburg. Not surprisingly, Constanze and Leopold did not get along.
