Good Morning Britain has aired Michael Sheen’s rousing speech to the Wales squad ahead of their match against England.
Wales will be playing England on Tuesday night (29 November) in the group stages of the World Cup for the first-ever home nations clash at the tournament.
On Tuesday’s episode of Gmb, the programme broadcasted footage of Sheen’s address to the Welsh squad from earlier this year.
In September, the Damned United star gave an impassioned speech to the football team during a visit to their training facility.
Sheen’s visit followed after his impromptu monologue on Sky’s A League of their Own went viral. Host Romesh Ranganathan had asked the actor to improvise the sort of message he would give to the Wales squad.
Wales manager Rob Page praised the on-air moment and said that the Wales squad would like to meet Sheen in person.

The Court of Appeal ruled that Ingenious’s film tax schemes were trading to make a profit.
UK tax authority Hmrc (Hm Revenue and Customs) has lost the latest installment of its complex and long-running legal battle with film financier Ingenious Media, which will now be looking to claw back at least £30m in legal costs.
In a ruling issued earlier this week, the Court of Appeal concluded that the Ingenious film tax scheme businesses were indeed trading with a view to make a profit. The court said that the 2019 Upper Tribunal (which decided in favour of Hmrc) had been...

In his latest interview/podcast host Stuart Wright talks with director Jonny Owen about Euro 2016 and the making of his documentary Don’t Take Me Home.
Wales haven’t qualified for a major football tournament since 1958. When the young national manager, Gary Speed, tragically took his own life in 2011 a youthful side and nation was left devastated. Qualification felt further away than ever and less important. Fast forward to 2015; spurred on by the enduring memory of the late manager Wales have qualified for Euro 2016. But how will they fare?

To celebrate the Home Entertainment release of the rousing feature-documentary Don’T Take Me Home, we have 2 Blu-ray copies to giveaway.
An inspiring documentary from Welsh filmmaker Jonny Owen (I Believe In Miracles) following Wales’ remarkable journey to the final stages of the 2016 European Championships.
For the last 60 years Wales have tried and failed to qualify for a major football tournament. Having gone through the grief of previous manager Gary Speed’s tragic death, heavy defeats, and positioned as a tiny country team with no pedigree, all bets were off for how the underdogs would perform.
Led by star player Gareth Bale, the team quickly became the outside favourites, dazzling millions of viewers. There’s an ancient Welsh saying, “Yma o Hyd” which translates as, “we’re still here” – a defiantly apt statement from the smallest country in the history of the game getting to a major tournaments semi finals.

A brisk documentary follows the Welsh football team from 2012 to their incredible European Championships performance four years later
Were it not for the Premier League-winning exploits of Leicester City, the Welsh national football team’s performance in the European Championships would have unquestionably been last year’s great sporting underdog story – remarkable not only because of Wales’s minnow status in international football (this was their first tournament appearance since the 1958 World Cup), but also because it came just five years after the team lost their manager Gary Speed, who took his own life. Jonny Owen’s film takes up the story as new manager Chris Coleman is put in charge in 2012 and follows it all the way through to the Euros and ultimately Wales’s semi-final defeat to eventual winners Portugal, with Coleman, the team’s star player, Gareth Bale, and some of the fans who went along for...

Newcastle United are undoubtedly a big club, even in spite of their recent inability to win, well, pretty much anything of note.
Naturally, playing at a big club brings with it some serious pressure, especially for younger players arriving with hefty price tags around their still tender necks. Another case where players have seemed to struggle at St James’ Park is upon coming in from abroad, usually where they’ve been playing in front of significantly inferior crowds at an arguably inferior standard. After all, the Premier League has been — and often still is — regarded as the elite platform in world football.
A proud club with a strong tradition of bringing through (and bringing in) great talent, put simply, Newcastle expects. With the likes of Alan Shearer, Andy Cole and Gary Speed all gracing the club within the last couple of decades — real warriors and fantastic...

Robbie Savage wants to take part in the next series of 'I'm A Celebrity . Get Me Out Of Here!' The former footballer enjoyed his stint on 'Strictly Come Dancing' so much that he would jump at the chance to take part in another reality TV show and admitted the recent shock suicide of his close friend Gary Speed has spurred him on to live life to the full. Asked what his plans are for 2012, Robbie said: "The jungle maybe, who knows? What happened to Gary puts life into perspective. I'm going to live every day. "If you are a milkman, postman,...

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew will be sweating on the fitness of a host of defensive options including Fabricio Coloccini, Mike Williamson and Chiek Tiote ahead of Swansea’s visit to St. James Park this weekend.
In their last outing against Norwich, Pardew was forced to field a back four made up entirely of full backs with Danny Simpson and James Perch forming an unlikely central defensive partnership. However the possible returns of Coloccini and Williamson will no doubt shore up a defence that leaked four against the Canaries last week.
Tiote is also a notable potential omission from the squad. The Ivorian, recovering from a knee ligament injury, is hopeful for the fixture and would certainly add some extra guile and physicality to the centre of the park for Newcastle.
Demba Ba will remain the greatest threat to the Swansea defence. The ex-West Ham striker is Newcastle’s top scorer scoring 11 so far this term,...

Strictly Come Dancing star Robbie Savage has hit back at "shocking" claims that he attempted to exploit the death of his friend Gary Speed. Savage, who exited the BBC contest this weekend after performing a tribute to the late Wales manager, said that his critics should have more sympathy for Speed's loved ones. "It was hard as you have to concentrate on dancing," he told The Sun. "But comments on Twitter like 'Robbie's only doing it for sympathy' were ridiculous, shocking. "I don't want pity but I lost one of my closest friends. They should have sympathy with Gary's family. It's a huge loss to me but more importantly to his lovely wife, two great kids and adoring father, who travelled the world to watch us play. "Gary was a family man, he was (more)...

Andre Villas-Boas will be very happy with his side as they rose to see off a brave Newcastle team thanks to a first half Didier Drogba header and late goals from Salomon Kalou and Daniel Sturridge.
It was an emotional day on Tyneside following the death of former player Gary Speed and the Welshman was remembered with a minutes applause before the match. John Carver, the Newcastle coach and close friend of Speed, was visibly very upset during the tribute and had to be consoled by fourth official Mark Halsey.
The match got off to a contentious start when David Luiz was only booked for clumsily bringing down Demba Ba and denying the Newcastle front man a clear goalscoring opportunity after just four minutes.
Luiz was then in trouble again after a heavy touch on the edge of his own area allowed Ba to win possession but John Terry was there to clear up.

Emotions will no doubt still be running high following the death of Gary Speed, as one of his former clubs, Newcastle United, take on Chelsea in the weekend’s early kick off.
This will not be Newcastle’s official tribute match to Speed, which has been scheduled for their clash with Swansea in two weeks time. This is at the request of Speed’s wife, Louise, who will be in Leeds on Saturday to watch another of her late husband’s former clubs but who still wants to attend the Newcastle tribute.
Newcastle boss, Alan Pardew, said this week that he hoped his players could pick up all three points as a tribute to Speed.
“Our players will be desperate to win to pay a tribute in that way. We can’t guarantee that, of course, but we are going to try. He was a great player here and a captain of this club,...

In a week where football has rightly taken a backseat and the tragic story of the late Gary Speed has been on the lips of every football fan, the League Cup arrives to try and drag the sport back into some sort of normality. With the first three Quarter Finals taking place last night, and victories for Liverpool, Man City and Championship high-fliers Cardiff City, it is now between Manchester United and Crystal Palace to fill the last spot in the Semis.
The bigger Premier League clubs have a tradition of resting their ‘bigger’ stars as a means of prioritising their fixture list, or as some clubs refer to it, ‘a chance to give our younger players an opportunity to shine’. Don’t expect tonight to be any different for Man United, with Sir Alex already announcing a string of changes to the squad that drew against Newcastle on Saturday.

With the terribly tragic news of Gary Speed’s passing yesterday, the Newcastle United memorabilia shop The Back Page have been inundated with requests today to arrange a special event to pay their respects for a much loved former player. Speed played over 200 times for Newcastle between 1998 and 2004 and played in two Fa Cup finals for the club, but is more remembered for being a leader on the pitch, the ultimate professional and for commanding the midfield, especially during the heights of the Champions League campaign.
Depending on how the interest in numbers comes through, The Back Page are potentially looking at running a coach service to Gary Speed’s funeral in Wales for fans who want to travel on what would be a non-profit basis.
If this is something you have interest in, please call The Back Page on 0191 261 5005 to register your interest or pop into the shop in town.

Strictly Come Dancing's Robbie Savage has paid tribute to close friend Gary Speed, who died at the weekend. Wales football manager Speed was found dead at his Chester home on Sunday (November 27), aged 42. Savage, who played with Speed for the national team, mourned the loss of his close friend on Twitter yesterday afternoon and on BBC Radio 5 Live's 606 show, describing him as "one of the greatest ever Welsh players". He also revealed that he had spoken to Speed on the phone on Saturday and joked about his latest performance on Strictly. "The world has lost a great man in Gary Speed," wrote Savage. "I'm devastated, spoke to him yesterday morning why! why, why!! I'll miss him so much x "He came to watch Strictly 3/4 weeks ago. Today’s news that former Newcastle United and Leeds United midfielder and Wales manager Gary Speed was found dead left what I believe will be a lasting emotional scar on the footballing world, as well as having a profound personal effect. Speed was part of the team under Sir Bobby Robson who threatened to bring the good times of Kevin Keegan’s Entertainers back to St James Park, and his willingness to work for every team he played for endeared him enormously to fans.
He was a professional, the kind of player who cliched adages stuck to with genuine sentiment and who still holds the third highest Premiership appearance record behind Ryan Giggs and David James predominantly in a position that required a serious amount of commitment and energy to become anything close to the highest level. That is some going.

Today’s match importance was put into the back of players, Welsh fans, and football fans in general’s minds after news broke of the unfortunate passing of Wales national team manager Gary Speed.
The resultant atmosphere at the Liberty could only be described as shocked and sadenned. The crowd passionately singing chants of “one Gary Speed, there’s only one Gary Speed” before kick off summed up their feelings aptly.
The events were respectably handled after a minutes silence was demonstrated with the utmost passion before kick off, some fans choosing to stay silent, some giving the Welshman applause and some parading him with the aforementioned chant. Either sentiment was done with utter respect. Suggestions were put forward to call the game off in Swansea, but the game took place as planned.
