Now, Pitchfork — along with premiering a featurette — have more details. Along with the aforementioned acts all appearing in some capacity in the film, Tegan and Sara and Florence Welch will also be seen. Lykke Li has a bigger role than expected,...

As SXSW 2017 inches closer and closer, the marketing team behind Terrence Malick’s forthcoming romance/music drama, Song to Song, is beginning to drum up excitement ahead of the film’s theatrical bow late next month.
And so, on the heels of last week’s first-look trailer, a batch of all-new pics have surfaced online that highlight Malick’s enviable cast: Ryan Gosling, Michael Fassbender, Natalie Portman and The Discovery‘s Rooney Mara. Set in Austin’s thriving music scene, Song to Song divides that starry ensemble into two couples – Mara and Gosling; Fassbender and Portman – before unraveling their respective highs and lows as they reach for fame and fortune. Malick’s edgy new creative venture is said to be “very much ingrained in the zeitgeist,” so that all but rules out a La La Land-esque arc of love, dreams and the often gut-wrenching grey area in between.

With how many festivals have entered the North American market, it’s easy to overlook the ones that have been going on since before the craze really kicked into high gear. Chicago festival Lollapalooza celebrates its 25th anniversary this year with a lineup that’s sure to make it a worthy contender in the worldwide festival market.
As usual, Lollapalooza’s lineup focuses primarily on acts like Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Lana Del Rey. That doesn’t mean electronic music acts have been completely ignored, however – Martin Garrix and Hardwell’s names are among those at the top of the lineup, with artists like Adventure Club, Jauz and Zhu making appearances on nearly every row down to the bottom.
No matter what kind of music you’re into, it’s safe to say that something on Lollapalooza‘s lineup will suit your fancy.

Have you ever wanted a compilation of original music that blends your childhood affinity for all things Star Wars with your likely more recent appreciation for electronic music? Rick Rubin thought you might, which is why the decade-spanning pop culture mastermind has enlisted some of the world’s most renowned producers to deliver tracks for Star Wars Headspace.
Kaskade, Flying Lotus, A-Trak and Baauer are but a few of the names behind tracks which will appear on the album. Each production features samples and clips from the iconic sound effects of sound designer Ben Burtt, making for songs which reference the Star Wars film franchise’s many peculiar tropes.
Perhaps most surprising from a musical standpoint is Rubin’s own contribution to the compilation. Where the producer is best known for his iconic mixes of albums for legendary acts like The Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Beastie Boys, “Nr-G...

The Red Hot Chili Peppers performed at a benefit concert for Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders in Los Angeles last night, where the rockers did a 12-song set of classics, deep tracks, and even a cover of David Bowie's "Cracked Actor." But perhaps the most marvelous spectacle of them all — Anthony Kiedis's unwavering vocals notwithstanding — was the artistry on Chad Smith's drum kit, which proudly displayed Sanders's face morphed with Bowie's Aladdin Sane cover. World, say hello to Bernie Stardust.

Don't worry! You have still plenty of time to launder and press your fanciest sweat socks. The Red Hot Chili Peppers are throwing a Bernie Sanders fund-raiser concert February 5 at L.A.'s Ace Hotel. Tickets will be released day-of, and will range in price from $40 to $2,700. If you want to support your boy Bern by attending a concert without donating a cent to his campaign, grow up. Grow up, or fly in for the University of Iowa's "Students for Bernie," a free concert featuring Killer Mike, Foster the People, members of Vampire Weekend, the Lucas Bros., and others this Saturday, January 30. Because what Bern's got, you gotta get and put it in you. "It" being the hope for an America free of income disparity. Wait, wait, one more. How about: hard core, soft on gun control? Nope, not as good.
