Netflix has picked up the stand-up special “Chappelle’s Home Team – Donnell Rawlings: A New Day,” the latest installment in a series of stand-alone comedy specials executive produced by Chappelle. “Chappelle’s Home Team – Donnell Rawlings: A New Day” is Rawlings’ first solo stand-up comedy special for Netflix, and is set to premiere on Feb. 27.
Directed by Emmy and Grammy award winner Stan Lathan, the special was filmed at the Hard Rock Hotel in New York City during the New York Comedy Festival in November. “Chappelle’s Home Team – Donnell Rawlings: A New Day” is executive produced by Chappelle, Rikki Hughes and Lathan.

Chappelle’s Home Team- Luenell: Town Business will premiere on the streamer on September 26, it was announced on Wednesday.
Shot during her set at Yoshi’s in her hometown of Oakland, California, Town Business sees Luenell expose all of the absurdities of air travel, the importance of keeping the window shade up, and why she has appointed herself the unofficial air marshal of the skies.

Ryan Reynolds’ Maximum Effort Channel has partnered with Paul Fusco, the creator of the hit ’80s sitcom “Alf,” to create new content starring the wisecracking alien. Fat Joe will perform a one-man stand-up show based on his life and career in New York City this fall.
The performance will feature an introduction from Dave Chappelle and a slew of never-before-heard tales based on Fat Joe’s upcoming memoir, The Book of Jose.
“The world will be getting Fat Joe at his most authentic, vulnerable, and comedic self on that stage,” the rapper said in a statement. “I’m not holding anything back. I’ve always taken pride in my storytelling, but we’re about to take it to the next level.

Netflix announced that “Chappelle’s Home Team,” a series of stand-alone comedy specials featuring comics chosen by Dave Chappelle, who serves as executive producer. The series will debut on Feb. 28 with a set from Washington comedian Earthquake.
Chappelle will appear in each special to introduce the comedians, who have all been working for over three decades. Titled “Earthquake: Legendary,” the first special features Earthquake discussing health as wealth, prostate exams and disciplining kids.
Along with Chappelle, executive producers include Earthquake, Rikki Hughes, Jermaine Smith and Stan Lathan, who also serves as director.
The second special, with premiere date yet to be announced, features Donnell Rawlings, another comic from Washington.
“I’ve been doing this a long time and comedians like Quake and Donnell are not only friends but have inspired my own career,” Chappelle said. “Anyone in the comedy community knows these names and knows their time to shine is long overdue.

Scout Productions, the company behind Netflix’s Queer Eye and HBO Max’s Legendary, is looking to take the “secret sauce” of those two unscripted shows in to new worlds that have yet to have had their moment on television.
Co-founder David Collins and President Eric Korsh told Deadline that during the pandemic they doubled down investment in developing new projects that could tell authentic, diverse stories in the non-scripted space.
Korsh said it is looking to work with “unheard” voices or “people you don’t expect to see on television” and that representation across its shows is the “core through line to everything we do”.
The company’s core reality franchise Queer Eye, which is based on the original Bravo series that they produced back in 2003, launched on Netflix in 2018 and is currently in production on its sixth season.

Exclusive: WME announced today that they have signed Emmy and Grammy award-winning executive producer and showrunner, Rikki Hughes as well as her production company, Magic Lemonade for representation in all areas.
Hughes is a producer of a long list of award shows, comedy specials and independent features. She made history as the first Black female to receive an Emmy for “Outstanding Variety Special” for Netflix’s Dave Chappelle: Equanimity & The Bird Revelation comedy specials. On top of that, she scored a Grammy for “Best Comedy Album” for the specials.
She recently served as executive producer of BET’s tribute to the late Andre Harrell, Mr. Champagne and Bubbles as well as Chappelle’s latest comedy special, Sticks and Stones on Netflix. Her credits also include the HBO special All Def Comedy, Comedy Central’s Hood Adjacent, the VH1 special Dear Mama, amongst others.
Hughes was previously repped by CAA.

She recently served as executive producer of BET’s tribute to the late Andre Harrell, Mr. Champagne and Bubbles as well as Chappelle’s latest comedy special, Sticks and Stones on Netflix. Her credits also include the HBO special All Def Comedy, Comedy Central’s Hood Adjacent, the VH1 special Dear Mama, amongst others.

Emmy-winning comedian, actress and writer Wanda Sykes will host the first Hollywood version of the Bounce Trumpet Awards, which celebrate African American achievements and contributions.
The 28th annual awards will take place at the Dolby Theatre on Dec. 4 and debut on Bounce Sun. Feb. 23, 2020 at 9 Pm Et as part of Black History Month.
Bounce exclusively owns, produces and telecasts the event.

Legionnaires of Laughter (Lol) will hold it’s first-ever Legacy Awards on December 10th, 2018 at Cipriani Wall Street in Downtown New York City. The evening will be hosted by comedian Ken Jeong and will include several special performances and special guest appearances.
The inaugural event was founded by the late King of Comedy, to celebrate his peers and honor their efforts and achievements in the comedy arena. The evening will recognize comedians in a number of categories and are voted on by an exclusive group of 130 comedians, inducted by Jerry Lewis as the first Legionnaires in the Lol Academy.
