Lee Fields, a 68-year-old soul singer, has a cutting tenor best suited for romantic pleas and songs of supplication. He believes that work is more valuable than ever in a time when public discourse is increasingly characterized by rancor and animosity. “There are so many things happening in the world today that would be seen as contrary to love,” Fields says. “People are becoming a bit removed from regular traditions.” He plans to counteract that with It Rains Love, which is due out April 5.

Update: The full list has been revealed and can be seen below.
Original Post: With the Amsterdam Dance Event now underway, it’s time for the DJ Mag Top 100 to be revealed. As much of a joke as the list has become lately, we all still look forward to it each and every year and though it doesn’t hold too much legitimacy in the eyes of true dance music fans, it’s always interesting to see who ends up coming out on top.
Leaks and rumors have pointed to Martin Garrix emerging as #1 for 2016, something which would certainly make sense given the huge year he’s had. Not to mention he’s also been releasing new tracks left, right and centre this week. With the awards show now streaming live from the Heineken Music Hall, it shouldn’t be too much longer before we figure out whether or not...

When Flume teamed up with vocalist Kai on what would become their single “Never Be Like You,” the Aussie producer probably didn’t expect the level of recognition the song would achieve. “Never Be Like You” served as the lead single for Flume’s sophomore effort Skin and helped bring the album to a wide audience, charting in multiple countries and hitting the number 8 spot in the Us. Now, French producer and DJ Martin Solveig has delivered a new remix of the song.
Martin Solveig flips “Never Be Like You” on its head, trading in the future bass swagger from the original in favor of an upbeat house vibe. After a lengthy, beat driven intro, Kai’s familiar vocal hooks are brought in over ethereal chords and jangling percussion. A catchy horn melody takes over throughout the drops, over four on the floors kick patterns and chopped up vocal samples.

If the buzz is any indicator, Edm is on its way out – but anyone who attended the 2016 edition of Electric Daisy Carnival (Edc) Las Vegas last weekend would likely tell you otherwise. Insomniac Events organized a magnificent 20th anniversary celebration for its flagship festival, going to great lengths to ensure that those in attendance would look back on the landmark event with a special fondness.
After all, there were quite a few of them to witness what took place. Edc 20’s organizers reported that three-day attendance broke the 400,000 mark for the second time in the festival’s history, although it took two months longer for this year’s edition of the festival to sell out than that of last year. The festival nearly came to a close with zero reported fatalities for the first time in three years, but...

Martin Solveig once again managed to deliver a lighthearted party anthem with remarkable substance in the form of last month’s “Do It Right” featuring Maidza, and the song’s official music video accomplishes the same – but in the context of a more visual medium. Set against the backdrop of the Spanish structure La Muralla Roja, the video owes much of its picturesque imagery to the landmark’s angular planes.
Clips of Solveig running around the building’s Mc Escher-reminiscent staircases are interspersed with those of Maidza singing the radio-friendly top line of “Do It Right.” At times, the visual elements take a turn for the downright absurd, with body-painted models and fur-covered yetis dancing to the song’s rhythms.
La Muralla Roja was built in the La Manzanera development in Spain’s Calpe in 1973, and was intended to resemble the architecture of the Arab Mediterranean Area. Its bold colors...

For his latest single “Do It Right,” dance music producer Martin Solveig enlisted the help of Australian singer Tkay Maidza, delivering a groovy summer anthem complete with catchy pop hooks and an undeniable rhythmic backing.
Eschewing an overly electro-influenced production, Solveig crafts a unique sound palette on “Do It Right,” opening the new track with a steel drum melody accompanied by Maidza’s smooth vocal delivery. The track seems to blend Caribbean influenced tropical music and the offbeat grooves of future house played out on a rhythmic synth horn, resulting in a wholly original sound that balances melody with rhythm.
At a time in dance music where the majority of producers seem happy to rely on inspiration from their contemporaries, Martin Solveig manages to achieve an original sound with “Do It Right,” and the presence of Maidza’s vocals pushes the new tune to its full potential as a song...

Jauz has seen a truly meteoric career trajectory so far in 2016. The “Feel The Volume” producer kicked off The Friendzy Tour with a mind-boggling back-to-back set that featured more bass music titans than seemed necessary or reasonable, and he’s punctuated several of his stops with debuts of new tracks.
Even a month after the his tour has drawn to a close, though, the bass house pioneer doesn’t appear ready to slow down. In a mix he put together for Australian radio show Triple J, he included more unreleased IDs than the average DJ/producer can boast in their entire discography.
The mix leans considerably more towards the house end of the spectrum than a lot of Jauz’ live performances, and the stylistic range of the IDs reflects that. Also included in the eclectic pool of artists was Destructo, Martin Solveig, Skrillex and even Aretha Franklin.

We feel like we shouldn’t like Martin Solveig‘s new track, “+1,” but we’re not gonna lie, it’s actually pretty hot. It’s been apparent that the French producer has had future house in his crosshairs since his GTA collaboration, “Intoxicated,” in January – and while his new song is even more of an aberration from the standard deep house formula, that’s kind of what makes it worth talking about.
Driven more by poppy yet soulful lyrics than by its vogueishly stripped-down bass line, “+1″ also incorporates the high-energy percussive elements of Solveig’s progressive house roots into its unconventional stylistic hodgepodge. While that might sound to some like the makings of a musical disaster, it’s resulted in a track as radio friendly as it is club friendly; an accessible fusion that will guarantee it substantial radio play as the height of festival season approaches.

Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas, or Edc Las Vegas as it’s more commonly referred to, is quickly approaching, and much like Ultra, the event is more than just a festival. In fact, nearly the entire week is dedicated to the ever-growing industry, with the EDMbiz conference taking place in the days leading up to Edc followed by the festival itself as well as numerous pool parties and nightclub parties.

A couple of months ago, Martin Solveig and GTA teamed up for the incredibly catchy and very danceable “Intoxicated,” an upbeat, funky track that became a huge hit and one of the biggest songs of 2015. Now, Zeds Dead have decided to put their own spin on the tune and the result is certainly interesting.
The Canadian producers have kept the vocal line in place while slowing down the Bpm quite a bit and adding in a wobbly bass line. It all combines to result in a future house vibe that brings along with it a very chill feeling that actually sounds a bit similar to boys’ last venture into the Edm subgenre, “You Know.”
This remix might be a huge departure from the original, but it’s an interesting new take on the infectious song and once again demonstrates just how versatile Hooks and DC really are.

Coachella weekend 1 has come and gone and with it, we got some absolutely incredible sets. From Kaskade’s show-stopping main stage performance from last night to Porter Robinson’s impressive work on Friday night, there were many memorable moments throughout the weekend. Thankfully, those of us who couldn’t make it to the fest had a live stream to help with the Fomo. And just in case that wasn’t enough, we now have videos of most of the biggest sets from the weekend for your viewing pleasure.
While a few key artists are absent here (Kygo, Alesso, Drake, The Weekend etc.), there’s more than enough footage to tide you over until weekend 2 kicks off this Friday. Along with the above mentioned sets, we also recommend checking out Chet Faker, Clean Bandit and Madeon, as all three impressed us with their performances.

Spinnin’ Records is hugely influential in the Edm scene, so it’s always interesting to see what the record label is cooking up. The Netherlands-based company had an incredible year in 2014, giving us tracks like “Revolution,” “Samurai (Go Hard),” “Raveology,” “We Like To Party,” “Turn Up The Speakers,” “Last All Night (Koala),” and so many more.
Now, the label is giving us a look at what their future holds with an epic 2015 mix that shows off a whole bunch of new, unreleased music. With tracks from Vicetone, Zedd, Oliver Heldens, Martin Garrix, Afrojack and many more, next year looks like it’s going to be a huge one for Spinnin’, and we can’t wait to see what they’ve got in store for us.

As one of the fastest rising stars in Edm at the moment, it was really just a matter of time before we got a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix from Mr. Oliver Heldens. Keeping in suit with his deep house/groovy style, the two hours of music delivers exactly what you’d expect.
From the producer’s own hits like “Gecko” and “Koala,” to some of the biggest songs of 2014 (“Light Years Away,” “A Sky Full Of Stars,” “Blame,” etc.) the mix is a pleasure to listen to from start to finish. In fact, it could very well make a case for Best Essential Mix of 2014, as it definitely rivals some of the more impressive ones that we’ve heard from BBC Radio 1 this year. If nothing else, though, it’s a great way for the young DJ to cap off his truly incredible breakout year.

With a new expanded two-weekend format, a massive new main stage structure, and a big 15th anniversary to celebrate, it was obvious Ultra Music Festival would be going big for 2013.
Instead, it went massive. The just-released Phase 2 lineup reveals Ultra will host its most diverse and thorough lineup yet this March in Miami's Bayfront Park: crowd faves like Laidback Luke, Afrojack, Calvin Harris, and Dirty South are back, but the lineup also includes a slew of live acts including Snoop Dogg and Sleigh Bells.
"What we've achieved with this edition's ocean of talent and stage production is we feel unprecedented," said Ultra founder, CEO and president Russell Faibisch. "As the industry we work in continues to explode, with so much talent emerging and the taste of our consumer changing in the process, diversity was key."

Like mother, like son. We suppose there's no getting away from the family business when your mother is Madonna, and from the looks of things, her 7-year-old son David doesn't seem to have any problem with that. Looking more than at home, the brother of Rocco and Lourdes took to the stage on the Los Angeles stop of his superstar mama's Mdna tour last night. David took up residence in the onstage DJ booth at the Staples Center, honing his skills alongside DJ Martin Solveig. And when he wasn't picking up spinning pointers from the pro, he was enjoying the show, getting spotted rocking out to his mom's tunes. In any case, he had a rapt (and star-studded)...

"Are you wearing a banana suit now?"
The question, posed to me about halfway through an interview with Dada Life's Olle Corneer and Stefan Engblom, sounds serious enough. There's a moment where I actually wonder if I'm going to be hung up on by Swedish house producers. It would be a first, but stranger things have happened -- things like Dada Life requiring journalists in their native country to don bright yellow suits before sitting down for interviews. (I was, perhaps mercifully, a long-distance phone call away.)
Because dance music requires participation, it's almost uncool by definition. There's no room for being "cool" -- not in the way you can be cool at a hip-hop show, where an audience member can choose between losing their mind to the music or adopting a bit of the performer's swagger and subtly nodding with a half-smile. At a rock show, you can either mosh or sing along.

When you're a pop star of Madonna's stature, you get to call in any number of favors. Like having progressive house superstar Benny Benassi produce your single, "Girl Gone Wild," and open for you in Abu Dhabi.
Benassi and Madonna have a long history together. The Italian Stallion remixed both "Celebration" and "Vogue" (though the latter was a bootleg). If Madonna stays in the game after Mdna, she's likely to link up with Benassi again. (Other house heads she's worked with: Avicii, who remixed "Girl Gone Wild," and Martin Solveig, who produced a good chunk of the album.)
Ultra Music is premiering footage from the July concert tomorrow on the label's YouTube channel, but HuffPost Entertainment has an exclusive preview. Watch the teaser below and let us know what you think in the comments.

This year MTV revamped the Best Dance Video category and renamed it Best Electronic Dance Music Video, mainly focusing on Edm music. Canadian progressive house producer Deadmau5 (real name: Joel Zimmerman) isn't done bashing Madonna. Back in March, Zimmerman called Madge a "f---ing idiot" after she made a thinly veiled reference to ecstasy use at the Ultra Music Festival.
Though they sort of made up (Madonna made the unbelievable argument that she was referring to an unpopular house song, not to the drug widely associated with electronic dance music festivalgoers, and Zimmerman backed off), a new Rolling Stone article may have re-ignited the feud.
"You can't to be 'hip' and 'cool' and 'funky grandma'?" Zimmerman said. "Fine. It's not my place to say you're irrelevant. If you're going to come into my world, at least do it with a little more dignity."
To Zimmerman, it was a simple matter of respect. "I understand she has millions more fans, and is way more successful than I'll ever be. But it's like talking about...

Ten days after it was rumored she'd be shooting her "Turn Up the Radio" video in Rome, Madonna was photographed in another Italian city filming the clip.
On Monday, her manager, Guy Oseary, tweeted a photo of Madonna, along with some dancers, from the video shoot in Florence.
In the snapshot, Madonna smiles as she makes her way to a convertible filled with dancers clad in colorful, shiny clothes. As for Madonna's wardrobe, she's dressed in all black, and she topped off the look with a black-and-white hat, which she's tipping down in the photo. The shot matches the track's summery vibe.

Dance music producer and DJ David Guetta is chasing down the late Michael Jackson's Thriller. The French Grammy-winner's track with Sia, "Titanium" (listen below), has charted on the Billboard Dance/Club list for 28 weeks, making it the longest-charting dance song in nearly three decades.
Thriller charted for 36 weeks in 1983, when the chart not only included singles but albums and/or song bundles. The longest-charting entry since the list started in 1976 is Kelly Marie's "Feels Like I'm In Love"/"Loving Just For Fun."
With tracks featuring Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Usher, Fergie, Lmfao and more, Guetta is at the forefront of European pop-house's takeover of American pop music, infecting many genres with club-ready electronic dance jams. If it's somewhat formulaic (songs generally include soaring vocals intercut with stabby synths and four-on-the-floor basslines that drop out before massive "breakdowns"), pop music fans don't seem to mind. Madonna went cheerleader chic in her "Give Me All Your Luvin' " video. Then she recalled her "Erotica" days for the "Girl Gone Wild" video. Now, it seems she might be living La Dolce Vita in her "Turn Up the Radio" clip.
Rumor has it that the singer will film the video on Sunday in Rome, under the direction of her "Give It 2 Me" music video director, Tom Munro. Oh No They Didn't further reports that the shoot may take place at the Rome Forum. "Turn Up the Radio" was announced as her next Mdna single back in April.
A rep for the singer had not responded to MTV News' request for comment by press time.

Solveig had a tight schedule during Movie Awards weekend, coming straight from overseas to Los Angeles for the big event. So what was Solveig up to? Well, he had just kicked off Madonna's Mdna Tour in Tel Aviv, Israel, as her opening act.
