Now celebrating its 50th anniversary, Patrick McGoohan’s The Prisoner was imaginative, unfathomable, and years ahead of its time...
It’s fifty years this month since The Prisoner premiered on British screens, bringing with it blazers, badges and mind-bending bad guys. The show ran for a mere two years, two truncated seasons and seventeen episodes, but its surreal imagery, iconic catchphrases, cerebral plots and absolutely bonkers ending have earned it a perennial place in our cultural consciousness.

It's truly an odd-beast, quintessentially sixties in some respects, timeless in others. It's hard to describe or define it as any one thing: it's a spy show that isn't a spy show; it's an action show with bigger...

The schedule is a little crazy, as usual, but makes for some interesting decisions. I've already broken down each network and their shows, but now let's look at how the full schedule shapes up.

Monday Night is incredibly tricky, with the networks really going after each other. If you happened to catch my recent Growing Pains review, you'll remember my discussion about network schedules back in the day. A discussion which was largely kicked off by an article over at PopDose, which threw out the notion that we...

With news that producers on the British version of "X Factor" used Auto-Tune software to help sweeten the voices of a few contestants, I can't say I'm that surprised. Like "American Idol," Simon Cowell's "X Factor" aims to find the music industry's next big superstar. If the singers on "X Factor" and "Idol" are going to have to compete with contemporary pop acts — many of whom barely do an interview without a little audio sweetening in post-production — can you blame producers for a little tweaking here and there to polish their product?
In fact, I wonder if Cowell's old show might have gained a bit of shine from some tuning enhancements in the past. Here's my pick for five "American Idol" contestants who would have benefited from some minor pitch-correction.

Geri Halliwell has been named as Dannii Minogue’s stand in at tomorrow’s X Factor auditions.
The celebrity judges will be seeing hopefuls in Glasgow tomorrow and as permanent judge Dannii is on maternity leave, former Spice Girls Geri will take her seat for the day. She follows in the footsteps of her bandmate Victoria Beckham, who guest judged last year on American Idol.
Geri is not new to a TV panel, she appeared as a judge on PopStars The Rivals the year Cheryl Cole’s Girls Aloud won. A show source told The Mirror:
“Geri has told Simon she can spice up the audition process. She worked with Louis on PopStars: The Rivals when Cheryl auditioned, so it will be interesting to see what their chemistry is like.”
Robbie Williams, Duffy, Janet Jackson, Lily Allen and Charlotte Church are rumoured to be lined up to audition with Simon Cowell,...
