We were recently alerted to a budding project that may appeal to fans of the horror hosting of yore. Enter Queen Gorya, from Final Fangirl Productions.
Queen Gorya is about a former late night horror hostess, and her co-host Terry the Wolfman, that have predictably fallen on hard times. A pilot has been made and is currently being shopped to Netflix, Machinima and Showtime and is looking for a home. Take a look at the 9 minute sneak peek and see what you think of Andrew Harrison’s creation.
The prospective show stars Satu, Haley Hudson, Steve J. Palmer, Dan Evans and Jr Cruz.

Dear Jackie:i just wanted to thank you for running my story ("Name Decisions," The Working Actor, Sept. 16-22). I got a great response from my friends and family.I've committed to a brand-new name. I went to SAG on Friday to make it official. It's Satu Makeda—easier to say, and memorable. I followed your advice, and the general consensus was to change the last name. I tested it out at Actorfest NY this weekend with about five casting directors, and so far so good. I think it was the right choice, and I'm sticking with it, for good. Thanks for all the help.—Satu Makeda (formerly Rautaharju) via emailDEAR Satu:i am so glad we could be of help. Back Stage readers were in agreement that you should keep your original, lovely first name and change your last name to something that wouldn't type you as a particular ethnicity. Your new name is definitely ethnic,...

The Buggles proclaimed that video has killed the radio star, but rock DJ Warren Orlando has already cheated death, thanks to Andrew Harrison, star and creator of the new web series Polyester Dreams. The indie comedy series tracks the trials and tribulations of Warren Orlando, a prog rock DJ at radio station Wxla, who follows the rock and roll creed of self-loathing and manic depression in his own way. His misfortunes in life, from his Academy Award winning ex-girlfriend humiliating him in the media to reading half-assed commercial bits, are interwoven with homemade music videos, playing “forgotten” songs mainly from the 60s and 70s. Other cast members in Polyester Dreams include Satu Rautaharju (appeared on HBO’s Flight of the Concords), improv comedian Rob Lathan (The Colbert Report, Human Giant ) and Dallas Coyle from the metal band God Forbid. Two episodes are currently out, with six more coming in the first season.
