Here’s an interesting project, guys! So, we’re here today to continue our little chat about the upcoming 70′s surfer action project titled Drift.
As we previously reported, Sam Worthington is already on board, and Myles Pollard is also expected to star in the whole thing.
But, we’ve just learned that Xavier Samuel, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse villain, has joined the project as well.
Drift comes from directors Ben Nott and Morgan O’Neill, and is already being described as the first character-driven action movie set in the surfing world since Kathryn Bigelow’s Point Break, and will follow two brothers as they battle killer waves, conservative society and ruthless bikers to kick-start the modern surf industry.
Sam Worthington is set to play a photographer and journalist who plays a major role in the brother’s rise while Xavier Samuel and Myles Pollard are rumored for the roles...

Eagle eyed visitors to Cannes can spot all sorts of new images and posters for the films that will be coming our way in the next few years and while waltzing from the beach to the next soiree Dave snapped the poster for a new Sam Worthington film.
Drift, an Australian production, is to be directed by Ben Nott and Morgan O’Neill and filming is set to begin this summer once Worthington is done facing the Wrath of those pesky Titans. The new poster is not too dissimilar to the image on the official website but Tfi are clearly shopping the film around with their greatest asset front and centre.
Here’s a synopsis for all fine people,
Australia, 1970s. The Fisher brothers, Andy (28) and Jimmy (22), have one great passion: riding big waves. As kids, their mother escaped from Sydney to Margaret River, a sleepy coastal town with some...

We'll kick things off today with Variety's report that Shia Labeouf is attached to star in an adaptation of "Horns," the bestselling novel from Joe Hill (Stephen King's son). He'll play a 26-year-old who awakens from a black-out hangover and finds horns growing from his head. He's faced with investigating the unsolved murder of his girlfriend and the case's connection to his cursed fate. Keith Bunim ("In Treatment") is penning the adaptation.
THR reports Sam Worthington will star in the Aussie surfing film Drift. The film will be set in 1972 and tells the story of the Fisher brothers battling killer waves, conservative society and ruthless bikers in the process of kick-starting the modern surf industry.

Here are some casting updates we have missed over the last few days.
Colin Firth for Stoker
Colin Firth has officially signed on to the cast of the Chan Wook-Park directed thriller Stoker. This film marks the first big Hollywood film for the Korean director, who has brought us Oldboy and the Vengeance series. Park’s films are known to be very dark and very twisted, but those films have been filmed in South Korea and are released overseas; Americans only get to see the DVD release. Stoker will follow the story of a mother (Kidman) and her daughter India (Mia Wasikowska) who are visited by the girl’s mysterious uncle after her father passes away. Follow all of our Stoker coverage right here. [The Daily Mail]
Logan Marshall-Green in Prometheus

Last year it was announced that Sam Worthington had been cast in a new surfing drama called Drift. It was reported at the time that the story would revolve around the rise of surfing in Australia and globally. I wasn't really sure how far back they would go to tell this story, but surfing was introduced to Australia in the year 1915 by Hawaiian surfing legend Duke Kahanamoku.
We have a few more details on what this film will be about. The story "set in 1972 and tells the story of the Fisher brothers as they start a new life in a remote Australian coastal town where they come up against suspicious locals, killer waves and ruthless bikers as they struggle to kick-start a new business based on surfing, their greatest passion."
Morgan O’Neill wrote the script and will co-direct with Ben Nott. Surfings great, and I always enjoy a good...

Australian actor Sam Worthington is heading back to his wave-riding roots to star in a surfing drama in his homeland.
The Avatar star - who is an avid surfer - has focused on Hollywood blockbusters in recent years, but he's keen to get back Down Under to start shooting Drift, which is being marketed as the biggest surfing movie since 1991's Point Break.
Worthington will play one of the Fisher brothers, who attempt to escape their troubled background to start a new life on the Western Australian cost.
A statement from Screen Australia reads, "Drift combines serious Australian talent both in front of and behind the camera with (directors) Morgan O'Neill and Ben Nott, together with Sam Worthington who has been in some of the highest grossing international films of the last few years."...
