Oscar nominee Clive Owen is set to play a police office in Germany on the brink of WWII in historical thriller “Kristallnacht.”
The feature — being launched at the American Film Market by International Film Trust — comes from Oscar-winning filmmaker Stefan Ruzowitzky, who will direct from a screenplay he co-wrote with Julius Grützke, based on an original script by Jonathan Frank and Scott Mann.
“Kristallnacht” was announced by Michael Benaroya, the CEO of Benaroya Pictures and co-founder of International Film Trust, who will serve as producer alongside Danny Krausz, Marcelo Gandola and Daniel Zuta.
Based on a true story, “Kristallnacht” is set in Berlin on the eve of war and follows police lieutenant Wilhelm Krützfeld (Owen) over the course of 24 hours as he navigates a city turned into a powder keg. Director Scott Mann’s thriller Fall, which stars Grace Caroline Currey (Shazam!: Fury of the Gods) and Virginia Gardner (Halloween 2018) as a pair of characters who get stuck at the top of a 2000 foot tall radio tower, was given a theatrical release, but it wasn’t really a break-out hit. It made $21 million worldwide, on a budget of $3 million. More viewers watched it on Amazon, purchased it on Blu-ray or DVD (order it Here), or caught it on Starz or Netflix… and Fall was so successful on Netflix, it was enough to get back-to-back sequels greenlit by Capstone Studios! Mann will be writing and directing Fall 3 himself, but he has decided to hand the helm of the middle installment of this trilogy over another director. Or, as it turns out, other directors. Capstone Studios’ CEO Christian Mercuri has announced that Fall 2 is set to be directed by the filmmaking...

Fear reached new heights in Lionsgate’s Fall last year, a heart-pounding tale of survival from the producers of 47 Meters Down that was released in August 2022. We learned earlier this year that a sequel was on the way, but now it seems that Two sequels are in the works.
THR reports this morning that Capstone Studios has given the green light to not one but two sequels to Fall, with Fall director Scott Mann returning to produce the sequels.
Additionally, Mann will co-write and direct the third installment.
But first, Fall 2 is set to begin shooting in June 2024.
THR notes, “Fall 2 and Fall 3 will bring back original characters from the first film, while also leaving room for new ones to be introduced.”
“These two new sequels are wonderful opportunities to expand on the original. We want to now take the franchise even further as we assemble the very best...

If you thought you weren’t afraid of heights, think again – this utterly terrifying don’t-look-down thriller from director Scott Mann will have you clutching the sides of your seat in sheer sweaty-palmed panic. As such, it’s about as perfect a closing night film for FrightFest as it’s possible to imagine.
Fall begins with a prologue, in which daredevil climbers Becky (Grace Caroline Currey) and Hunter (Runaways’ Virginia Gardner) undergo a devastating tragedy while scaling a rock face. A year later, Becky is still deep in depression and trauma, so Hunter decides that the only thing that will snap her out of it is to climb to the top of the 2,000 foot B67 TV tower — an abandoned communication tower located in the middle of the California desert.

Director Scott Mann’s thriller Fall, which stars Grace Caroline Currey (a.k.a. Grace Fulton, Shazam!) and Virginia Gardner (Halloween 2018) as a pair of characters who get stuck at the top of a 2000 foot tall radio tower, was given a theatrical release back in August and can now be viewed on Amazon or purchased on Blu-ray or DVD (order it Here). One viewer who caught up with the movie on Amazon was legendary author Stephen King – and he was so impressed with it, he took to social media to say he wished he had been the one who wrote it!
King tweeted, “Fall: Tight, terrific, and very, very scary. Reminded me a bit of Duel. Wish I’d written it.”
Fall was actually written by Scott Mann and Jonathan Frank. They crafted the following story:
For best friends Becky and Hunter, life is all about conquering fears and pushing limits.

Exclusive: WME has signed Scott Mann, who directed the thriller Fall. That film was released by Lionsgate, grossing 16 million on a 3 million budget.
The survival tale is about two adventurous women, one of whom lost her husband in a climbing accident. The friend of the widow tries to pull her pal out of a spiral by challenging themselves to climb an abandoned 2000-foot-high TV tower. Everything goes wrong, the climbers are too high to get a rescue cell signal, and an adventure turns into a terrifying fight for survival. Mann wrote the script with Jonathan Frank.
The film is currently streaming on Apple TV+, and here is how Stephen King described it: “Reminded me a bit of Steven Spielberg’s Duel. Wish I’d written it.”
Mann had been repped by CAA, and now WME will steer him as he looks for his next film to direct.

Kev has been dying to watch the Scott Mann flick Fall and finally here he is getting to talk about it. So let’s see what he thought.
Experience a heart-pounding tale of survival from the producers of 47 Meters Down where sacrifice may just be the only way out. A fast drop and a sudden stop awaits Becky and Hunter as they find themselves trapped 2,000 feet up an abandoned radio tower in the desert. Highly trained and resourceful, these climbers were still not ready for every eventuality. A series of unfortunate events see their gear and supplies taken from them and as temperatures rise and vultures begin to circle, the chance of survival begins to fall rapidly. Also starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen), Fall is produced & directed by Scott Mann (Final Score) and written by Mann and Jonathan Frank (Final Score).
Fall screened as part of this years Arrow Video London Frightfest.

A handful of smaller films will start to test audience enthusiasm for movie theaters without big tentpoles. It’s been a rocky summer for specialty releases, and an uphill climb as arthouses emerge from Covid jitters with franchise films sucking up oxygen and screens. But superheroes are on hiatus.
“There isn’t giant competition from tentpoles,” said Howard Cohen, co-president of Roadside Attractions. “On balance, it’s good. Obviously, if you have Top Gun, it sucks the air out of the marketplace. It’s still better — for the specialty market — to have three or four indies than one giant release. Exhibitors are antsy about the sudden dearth of new wide releases this month and next, but they’ve also been asking for more box office breadth.

Survival horror takes aim at acrophobia with Lionsgate’s adrenaline-seeking Fall. Two women trapped at the peak of a 2,000-foot radio tower in the middle of nowhere and with no cell signal means a series of obstacles to contend with beyond vertigo-inducing heights. While the lean, mean thriller does offer bursts of intense action and acrophobic chills, Fall crashes headfirst into a film we’ve already seen before, nearly beat for beat.
Best friends Becky (Grace Caroline Currey) and Hunter (Virginia Gardner), along with Becky’s husband (Mason Gooding), live to push their limits and chase extreme adrenaline rushes. However, one misstep on a mountain climb sends Becky into a deep depressive state that means retreating from friends, family, and her fearless ways. To shake her out of it, Hunter talks Becky into accompanying her on a bucket list excursion, scaling one of the world’s tallest structures. Becky and...

It’s been a year since Dan Connor (Mason Gooding) fell to his death while rock climbing with his wife Becky (Grace Caroline Currey) and her best friend Hunter (Virginia Gardner). The latter was free-climbing and mocking the other two for being slow as they detached and reattached their ropes with every maneuver to create a semblance of safety. Rather than be ironic that Dan is the one who dies, however, the choice is purely driven by narrative and suspense. Whereas Hunter slipping would just be game over, he gets to hang and swing for a bit while desperately trying to grab a handhold and relieve the pressure put upon the nut/hex/chock holding his rope in place. Like a provisions-packed knapsack, a good deal of emotional backstory gets shoved into the first half-hour of “Fall” before it traps two female climbers 2,000 feet above the ground in a remote stretch of desert for the rest of its running time.
Will that friendship be tested? Of course. But the true signal that co-writer (with Jonathan Frank) and director Scott Mann has his thrill-hungry audience’s needs in mind is that before adventuring besties Becky and Hunter can even get to the base of the TV tower they intend to scale, they lock eyes with a carcass-gnawing vulture, who gets a righteously gnarly, ominous close-up.
In other words, you’re in good talons with “Fall,” a better-than-average B-movie corker that’s almost like a corrective these days to the behemoths that spend hundreds of millions of dollars on mayhem only to bludgeon us with exhilaration-free, numbingly digitized peril. If you...

Pamela Adlon was in her happy place on Wednesday night, surrounded by friends, family members and fans as FX toasted the fourth season premiere of her critically adored comedy “Better Things.”
Adlon joked as she surveyed the audience in the Whitby Hotel screening room in Manhattan that the crowd was full of “Easter eggs” for her autobiographical show, starting with her real-life brother, Greg Segall, who is portrayed by Kevin Pollak in the series.
Adlon noted that she considers New York her “home town” and she pointed out a slew of old friends in the crowd, some of whom have influenced characters, character names and storylines on “Better Things,” which bowed Wednesday on FX. Adlon stars as an actor and single mother of a certain age who is struggling to stay afloat in Hollywood while raising three daughters.
“It has been an incredible time and journey for me,” Adlon said of producing the show.

Stars: Dave Bautista, Pierce Brosnan, Ray Stevenson, Amit Shah, Martyn Ford, Kamil Lemieszewski, Ralph Brown, Lara Peake, Lucy Gaskell, Alexandra Dinu | Written by Jonathan Frank | Directed by Scott Mann
Dave Bautista’s solo action career continues its hot streak (see also: Bushwick) with Final Score, a ludicrous-but-fun Die Hard homage that sees the big man taking on terrorists at a football match in London. The film might have its flaws, but it delivers enough action-packed entertainment to ensure Bautista won’t be facing relegation anytime soon.
As established – albeit to outlandish extremes – in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, Bautista’s screen persona is essentially strong-but-sensitive, and he sticks closely to that template for his portrayal of Us military specialist Michael Knox, who arrives in London to visit the widow (Lucy Gaskell) and teenage daughter of his fellow soldier and best friend, who’s recently been killed in action.
