"We're pinning down the truth." Saban Films has unveiled a trailer for a small town mystery thriller titled Wander, from filmmaker April Mullen. This just premiered at the Deauville Film Festival in France, but that's the only place it has screened. Aaron Eckhart stars as a mentally unstable private detective hired to investigate a suspicious death in the small town of Wander. He soon believes the murder may be linked to the death of his daughter and a "conspiracy cover up". From the looks of it, there may be some truth to this but not everything is what it seems. The film also stars Raymond Cruz, Katheryn Winnick, Heather Graham, Brendan Fehr, Nicole Steinwedell, with Tommy Lee Jones. This looks like so many other dusty small town crime thrillers, but at least Eckhart has a grizzled, unhinged character to dig into this time. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for April Mullen's Wander,...

Author Jackie Collins dead at 77: Surprisingly few film and TV adaptations of her bestselling novels Jackie Collins, best known for a series of bestsellers about the dysfunctional sex lives of the rich and famous and for being the younger sister of film and TV star Joan Collins, died of breast cancer on Sept. 19, '15, in Los Angeles. The London-born (Oct. 4, 1937) Collins was 77. Collins' tawdry, female-centered novels – much like those of Danielle Steel and Judith Krantz – were/are immensely popular. According to her website, they have sold more than 500 million copies in 40 countries. And if the increasingly tabloidy BBC is to be believed (nowadays, Wikipedia has become a key source, apparently), every single one of them – 32 in all – appeared on the New York Times' bestseller list. (Collins' own site claims that a mere 30 were included.) Sex...

Originally developed for Fox, "Breakout Kings" found itself a home on A&E, Appropriately, the show comes from creators Nick Santora and Matt Olmstead, who were writers on "Prison Break." "Breakout Kings" is something of a mish-mash between a reverse "Prison Break" and the TNT show, "Leverage." In it, a group of inmates skilled in different fields -- conning, tracking, car robbery, cons, psychology -- are brought together to under a federal marshal to track down escaped convicts. With each escapee they track down, they get a month shaved off their sentence, and in the meantime, are allowed to reside in a minimum security prison.

Originally a pilot script that was refused further development by Fox, Breakout Kings managed to find a home with the A&E network. Created by Nick Santora and Matt Olmstead, two prolific writers on Prison Break, Breakout Kings cleaves close to the fourth season premise of that defunct show. By-the-book Cpa Agent Charlie Duchamp (Laz Alonso) and hotheaded detective Ray Zancanelli (The Wire’s Domenick Lombardozzi) resurrect an idea to recapture escaped convicts by assembling a team of criminals with breakout experience themselves. As the marketing paraphrases, “it takes a con to catch a con”…
The “breakout kings” (a title amusingly derided as being nonsensical) are comprised of: erstwhile child prodigy and compulsive gambler Dr Lloyd Lowery (Jimmi Simpson); wheeler-dealer Sean “Shea” Daniels (Malcolm Goodwin), sexy con artist Philomena “Philly” Rotchcliffer (Nicole Steinwedell), whose character is unnecessarily replaced by a tracker called Erica (Serina Swan) after the pilot; and, briefly,...

"Breakout Kings" started life last year as a pilot for Fox, which passed on it. After a little while in limbo, the show was rescued by A&E, which is making a push back into scripted series, and it winds up on your screen Sunday night (March 6).
Watching the two episodes A&E sent out for review, it's not hard to see why the cable network wanted the show: It's got a solid premise -- a team of convicts is recruited to help U.S. marshals apprehend fugitives -- and allows its characters to indulge their quirks. But it's also not all that hard to see why Fox didn't want it: Once you get past the idea that the bad guys are working for the good guys, it's a pretty by-the-numbers crime show.
U.S. Marshal Ray Zancanelli (Domenick Lombardozzi of "The Wire" and "Entourage") is a lone-wolf sort -- in...

U.K. retail giant Tesco is releasing its film adaptation of a Jackie Collins novel. "Paris Connections" will be the company's first foray into filmmaking, with a straight-to-dvd that will go on sale exclusively in its stores.
The film is Tesco's first project, with the hopes of making two more films this year. The company also signed up authors Philip Pullman, Judy Blume and Felix Francis. Blume's "Tiger Eyes" is being eyed as Tesco's next film.
Director Harley Cokeliss is working on with stars Nicole Steinwedell, Charles Dance, Hudson Leick, Anthony Delon, Trudie Styler, Anouk Aimee, and Caroline Chikezie for the film.
According to the Guardian, a straight-to-dvd movie sold exclusively in Tesco is the brainchild of Ileen Maisel, a former New Line Cinema producer. The idea is to take well-known authors and adapt their bestselling novels into "video books."...

The UK's biggest food retailer is about to take on Hollywood in the movie-making business. Patrick Barkham goes on the Paris set of Tesco's first film, with Charles Dance and Trudie Styler
A glittering adaptation of a Jackie Collins novel. An award-winning cast. Thirteen gazelle-like models in a top Paris hotel. Viewed from one angle, Paris Connections could be the big-budget production to put the glamour back into British film-making. In a less flattering light – say, the strip lights of a supermarket – the end result could look very different.
Because this is not just any movie. This is a Tesco movie. The supermarket giant that inhabits virtually every corner of our existence has this year moved into film-making with a straight-to-dvd movie or, as its makers prefer, a "DVD Premiere". This autumn, Paris Connections will go on sale exclusively in Tesco stores. If successful, it could revolutionise the movie business,...

Note to all students aspiring to become actors: Hit the math textbooks -- that might be your ticket to Hollywood.
That's how Nicole Steinwedell did it. After years as a struggling actress, the 5-foot-11 blonde's gig as a math tutor led to a guest-starring role on CBS' military drama "The Unit" this fall. That turned into a recurring and then a regular role.
A daughter of Marine Corps officers and a graduate of Northwestern University with a double major in history and theater, Steinwedell moved to Los Angeles in 2002 to pursue acting. To support herself, she held three and four jobs at a time, including working as a math and Sat prep tutor in the Pacific Palisades. One of her students was Zosia, a teenager who lived with her mom, acting coach Lindsay Crouse, and her stepdad.
During the three years of private lessons, Steinwedell and Zosia became friends, so...

Last week on The Unit's fifth episode, we saw the team as they took on a complex transaction that required extensive planning. In fact, the team needed to give up something as valuable to get what they wanted. Last week, we saw the unit as they were assigned to retrieve a nuclear scientist. The task wasn't as east as it sounded as the scientist initially refused to cooperate. When he finally succumbed to their demands, they came to an agreement in which the team had to get vital information from him concerning a terrorist attack.
Meanwhile, we also saw Molly, Kim and Tiffy take on a covert operation which drafted them into the service. They also worked undercover with Jonas. Tonight, the drama and mystery continues as The Unit returns with Dennis Haysbert as Jonas Blane, Scott Foley as Bob Brown, Robert Patrick as Colonel Tom Ryan, Regina Taylor as Molly Blane,...

Recently, we let you in on the scoop with Nicole Steinwedell, the newest recruit of CBS' The Unit. In fact, based on the comments of our last article, it seems that the viewers like her presence in the show. Steinwedell is a fairly new actress who first appeared on television on the drama Dawson's Creek. She recalls her stint on the show in a recent conversation with TV Guide, saying, “That was my first job in Hollywood and I had watched Dawson's Creek in high school, so it was sort of surreal. Joshua [Jackson] was incredibly sweet to me, and very helpful one educating me on how to work with things. I was so new, it was ridiculous — I was such a dork!”
It seems that her dorkiness is now replaced with a brawn that stems from Stenwedell's real life experiences, as she revealed to IGN, “My parents were both in the Marine Corps,...

We recently reported that a new recruit on The Unit will come in the form of a blonde woman named Bridget Sullivan, who will be played by Nicole Steinwedell. TV Guide was the first to grab an interview with the former Dawson’s Creek actress, who is honored to be The Unit’s first female crew member.
"Women aren’t supposed to be in the Unit, or people underestimate their strength or fortitude," Steinwedell told TV Guide in a recent interview. "[Bridget] illustrates the 'constantly surprising' in the first episode by being resourcefulness in the line of duty and under pressure. She keeps on surprising them with her education and her ability to help out in certain situations."
Steinwedell sheds light on her character, saying, “She's been undercover for 18 months, so she's never worked with them before, just by correspondence. She's first meeting the guys.”

Recently, we reported on the events to come in the anticipated new season of The Unit, which returns to television screens tonight at 10pm. On the show’s third season, we saw Jonas in the middle of an investigation involving the link between a Russian uranium dealer and his old friend at MI5. The show’s third season spanned 11 episodes due to the writers’ strike, but this time, they’re ready to come back with new episodes that would pick up where we left off last season.
The Unit star Scott Foley recently talked to IGN, sharing his thoughts about the new season and how he has adapted to the show, given his drama series roots.
"The team has been out of the country on a mission for five or six months," Foley recounts. "And during that time, the military and the secret service has been infiltrated. And we come back,...
