Comedy maker Flip van der Kuil is a Dutch creator, director, writer and editor for films and series. He is known for his uncompromising vision of comedy. All of his films have had an international release. Latest feature Ron Goossens, Low-Budget Stuntman received lyrical reviews of the Variety and The Hollywood Reporter.
Flip van der Kuil loves to push the boundaries of comedy. His style is absurd comedy with caliber, with a high production value. Working together as a duo with Steffen Haars, Flip van der Kuil has had a huge success with the TV-show New Kids, which became a phenomenon in the Netherlands and across Europe. After the successful TV-series, production company Eyeworks (Kaap Holland Film) gave them the chance to turn their show into films. 1.6 Million people flocked to the Dutch theaters to see the blockbusters New Kids Turbo and the sequel New Kids Nitro, written and directed by Haars and Van der Kuil, both edited by Flip van der Kuil. The New Kids blockbusters not only became a hit in The Netherlands, but were also successful in Belgium, Japan, Scandinavia, etc. In Germany, New Kids Turbo was the biggest Dutch film release ever. On top of the success at the box-office, the films also won several awards at film festivals, like New Kids Turbo - Best Director Comedy Fantastic Fest 2011 and New Kids Nitro - Best Comedy Fantastic Fest 2012. In 2011 Haars and van der Kuil quit the New Kids franchise and Flip van der Kuil wrote, directed, and edited a new feature: BROs BEFORE HOs. With Sylvia Hoeks (Blade Runner 2049) as the female lead this was the first Dutch romantic comedy for guys. In January 2017 Haars and van der Kuil released their latest feature comedy Ron Goossens, Low Budget Stuntman. In 2019 Flip van der Kuil created the Videoland Original Series Random Shit, starring Henry van Loon in 22roles.
Flip van der Kuil and producer Maarten Swart started production label Dead Duck Productions together in 2020, which focuses primarily on comedy. The past 2 years he created the Videoland Original Series Barrie Barista And The End of Times, Comedy Central Original The Pudding Club, the webseries Downtown for BNNVARA/NPO3.nl, and his first animation short Red Fried District, in co production with Storm Postproduction.
