With a title like that, what could possibly go wrong? The epic finale of a trilogy (no, really, there are three of them) which has seen the titular ninjas take on vampires and zombies now has the superhero team battling horror’s most classic villains – Dracula, Frankenstein, Wolfman and the Mummy. It speaks volumes for the monsters’ recent output that this ultra lowbudget film is the best some of them have been in years.
Going into Ninjas vs Monsters blind, there’s a surprising amount of history to catch up on. The gist of it: a gang of slacker friends are gifted ‘Ninja’ super powers while battling zombies and a resurrected loved one turned bad.

From the people who brought you “Ninjas vs. Zombies” and “Ninjas vs. Vampires”, comes “Ninjas vs. Monsters”! Because what else would ninjas battle after taking on zombies and vampires? Monsters of legend, of course. Like, duh. Of the three movies in Justin Timpane’s “Ninjas” franchise, I’ve only seen 2008′s “Ninjas vs. Zombies”. It was a really, really low-budget endeavor, but I kinda liked it. I missed “Ninjas vs. Vampires”, but from the looks of it, “Ninjas vs. Monsters” has a way bigger budget. Either that, or the boys found someone who can do snazzy CG for them at a great price. Check out a new trailer and some pics from “Ninjas vs. Monsters”. I believe all the characters from the first movie return, but I could be wrong. It has been Years since I’ve seen “Ninjas vs. Zombies”, after all. In Internets time that’s like 5 decades...

Director: Justin Timpane. Review: Adam Wing. Justin Timpane’s low budget horror comedy arrives in the UK this month with the promise of ninjas and zombies, which is rarely a bad thing in my eyes. It’s hardly inspired though, which is probably why the distributors felt the urge to change the title for its UK premiere. Here the film is known as Zombie Contagion, but Ninjas vs. Zombies has already spawned a sequel back home, and it doesn’t take a genius to work out what Ninjas vs. Vampires is all about either. I just hope I’m not unfortunate enough to receive a copy. Timpane and story consultant Daniel Ross have thrown everything they have at this misguided production, apart from the presence of actual quality. In an attempt to reach the largest audience imaginable, Timpane’s movie comes on like a bizarre mix of science fiction, horror,...

For their seventh annual edition, the Spooky Movie International Horror Film Festival is really blowing things up!
Well, not literally. But the world’s premiere horror movie fest is expanding to over double its regular size, screening over 50 films on nine terrifying nights Oct. 10-18 at its new home, the prestigious AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring, Maryland.
The scares kick off on the 10th with the return of local fave filmmaker Richard Bates, Jr. with the feature-length version of Excision about a teenage girl obsessed with becoming a surgeon. The film co-stars John Waters, Malcolm McDowell and Traci Lords. Bates’ original short Excision on which the feature is based screened at Spooky Movie back in 2008.

If you love spending all of your free time watching low-budget martial arts movies seasoned with a little comedy and horror, then director Justin Timpane’s “Ninjas vs.” series should theoretically satisfy your desire for such peculiar cinematic cravings. This summer, Timpane unleashes the final chapter of his ambitious action-packed trilogy upon the masses. “Ninjas vs. Monsters” is the next logical step in the series’ three-part progression, and it looks to send the franchise off on a very strong note. Judging from the trailer you see embedded below, the film boldly combines swordplay, kung fu, and martial arts with the basic premise for “Monster Squad”. You might think I’m selling the film short, but, honestly, it’s kind of a compliment. Seriously. Specifically, here’s what the film is about, courtesy of Alien Bee: In this final installment, the Ninjas and their friends find themselves pitted against the most...

Justin Timpane will complete his trilogy of films with Ninjas vs Monsters. The first two titles involved zombies and vampires in Ninjas vs Zombies (2008) and Ninjas vs Vampires (2010). Now, the werewolf and the mummy get the headlock, as Timpane brings back actor Daniel Ross for one more martial arts brawl. Production on this title is expected to begin in the Spring of 2012. For now, a concept poster is available and the short synopsis tallks of several twenty-somthing, slackers saving the world once again, in comic book style. Despite the goofiness of the storyline, director Justin Timpane’s “Ninjas vs.” series is actually a lot of fun. It’s an ambitious project, for sure, and Timpane and his devoted cast and crew make the most of their limited resources. “Ninjas vs. Zombies” is still my favorite, as I’m not exactly what you’d call a fan of vampire flicks, martial arts-themed or not. Eager to complete the trilogy, Timpane is currently campaigning for “Ninjas vs. Monsters”, which he hopes to fund with a little help from the folks over at KickStarter. What does that mean, exactly? Well, it means he wants your money to make this movie. Nothing wrong with that, I guess. Here’s what you can expect from the ninjas’ third adventure: n this final installment, the Ninjas and their friends find themselves pitted against the most evil and memorable monsters of them all- Dracula,...

Ninjas Vs. Vampires
Stars: Jay Saunders, Daniel Ross, Devon Marie Burt | Written and Directed by Justin Timpane
Ninjas vs. Vampires is a low budget film featuring both ninjas and vampires. If you read my Cowboys & Zombies review, it will save some mentions which I have to give for this particular film. Firstly, it’s low-budget, secondly, the special effects are bad (because of the budget) and the acting isn’t so great. So, the main thing to consider, is it an enjoyable film?
It is… in parts.
When two teens are attacked by vampires, and then subsequently saved by ninjas, they can’t believe this could be real. That is until they become embroiled in a fight between the two groups. The ninjas aren’t all that ninja-ish, but the vampires are fairly vampy.
The film seems to take its leave from Blade, there’s a half-ninja, half-vampire character who has the powers of both.

We have one rule in our house when it comes to movies. We’re not allowed to totally trash a flick, no matter how much we want to, if it succeeds on getting a reaction out of us. My son, who really hated the Elm Street remake, isn’t allowed to say it’s crap because it did elicit a few jumps and gasps out of him. You’ll have to forgive him, he was ten at the time.
And that’s why I’m going to be pretty damn warm to Ninjas Vs Vampires, the sequel to Ninjas Vs Zombies (which not only have I never seen, I’ve never even heard of until today). NvsV is a bargain basement action/horror/comedy that mines the Blade movies for its action set pieces while trying to ape the flashier moments of Matrix as well.

Ninjas vs. Vampires is a film from Justin Timpane (Ninjas vs. Zombies), which has released on DVD as of May 3rd. This fantasy film is heavy on action, comedy, with influences of horror and the film breaks down much like a comic book. There is lots of action here, as Aaron (Jay Saunders) finds himself in the middle of a supernatural war. As well, there are elaborate costumes, which set the necessary dark tones. Evil acolytes promise to steal your life, while hidden behind masks and dressy robes. Finally, most comparable to graphic novels are the diverse set of characters, who either hide from sunlight, or stalk these mythical bloodsuckers.

The ninjas of the "Ninjas vs." franchise take on a new member who's driven to rescue the girl of his dreams from a group of evil vamps.
Satisfying followup to Ninjas vs. Zombies has the right balance of "Blade" type action and horror. The right amount of Gen X type humor channeling films like "Reality Bites" and "Clerks". The right amount of posing and posturing to give it that cool factor. And just the right amount of edge and bite to give it some substance. Ninjas vs. Vampires is a briskly paced, entertaining film with one little fun vignette right after another. Part of the success of this entry is that the film has energy.

This period of film has been looked upon by fans fondly. There have been films that have tried to capture the essence and the spirit of these films, but too often do these films come across as feeling forced and labored. Enter Washington D.C. based actor Daniel Ross of Ninjas vs. Vampires (starring: Jay Saunders, Cory Okouchi, Carla Okouchi, Devon Marie Burt, Melissa McConnell, P.J. Megaw, Elizabeth Taylor and Kurt Skarstedt and directed by Justine Timpane). This aspiring up and coming presence captures the mentality of the actors of that period and of those films through his performances with such ease and fluidity. Ninjas Vs. Vampires, his latest film, also serves as the perfect showcase for Daniel Ross,...

Justin Timpane originally started out acting in various low budget, indie horror films. Due to an overwhelming passion to make his own movie, Justin Timpane jumped into the director's chair originally self financing Ninjas Vs. Zombies by charging the film's costs on his credit cards. Due to the success of the film, Ninjas Vs Vampires will be coming out soon. I had the chance to ask him a few questions about his work. Here's what he had to say.
Who is Justin Timpane and what are you all about?
I'm an indie horror-comedy-writer-director-bla bla bla. I'm a regular guy who loves movies, and that's the thing. I kind of live and breathe them.. I think about the ones I love and the ones I want to make kind of whenever my brain takes a break from real life (i.e. keeping me up at night).

Fans of ninjas and zombies, and ninjas fighting zombies rejoice, because Justin Timpane’s “Ninjas vs. Zombies” is now available on DVD courtesy of Seminal Films. Give Timpane and the boys credit — their low-budget “Ninjas vs. Zombies” has some great laughs in it (the Herman vs. Eric battle being the highlight), and it’s probably a hell of a lot funnier than the $20 million dollar “Vampires Suck”. I could have done without the serious stabs at relationship stuff, though; what am I, watching “Ninjas vs. Zombies” or “Chasing Amy”? If you’re not predisposed to hating everything without a Hollywood budget, give the film a shot, there are some good laughs to be had. Plus, ninjas and zombies! Did I mention they’re in it, too? Seven friends, struggling with late 20s, early 30′s life, find themselves in terrifying danger when a longdead loved one is magically resurrected and starts devouring souls.
