BEIJING -- China's efforts to fight intellectual property violations show progress but are not keeping pace with a piracy problem that might require increased international legal attention, according to the views of Western business leaders, lawyers and lobbyists that emerged here Wednesday. In a panel discussion at the Fortune Global Forum, MPA president and CEO Dan Glickman, Pfizer vice chairman Jeffrey Kindler and Philips China CEO David Chang agreed that China's progress wasn't insignificant given the relatively short 27-year span since the one-party country began economic reforms. But each executive, whose companies have invested many millions in the market, had complaints about everything from lost potential revenue to lack of market access. "We have started late, but we have developed fast and in accordance with Chinese national conditions," said co-panelist Wang Jingchuan, commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office.
