Was a close friend of Sharon Tate and was staying the weekend
at Sharon's home in Bel Air, along with her boyfriend
Voytek Frykowski and Sharon's ex-fiancé,
Jay Sebring, when they were tortured and murdered by the Manson
family. Folger briefly escaped the house, but was caught and stabbed to
death by Patricia Krenwinkel.
She was a volunteer social worker in impoverished sections of Los
Angeles.
Despite being the heir to the Folgers coffee fortune and having a
steady income from inheritance, she was known to live a less than
splendorous lifestyle, by choice. She was very devoted to child welfare
and the civil rights movement, which she worked tirelessly for and
donated her own money to.
Graduated from Radcliffe College with honors in 1964. Went on to attend
Harvard, where she graduated in 1967 with a Master's degree in Art
History.
Was the heiress to the Folger Coffee fortune.
She has a brother, Peter Folger, born in 1945, and a sister Elizabeth Folger, born in 1961, both of San Francisco.
