Born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and moved to Houston, Texas, at the age of three months, Mark Clark has a long history of accomplishments in the motion picture industry. After graduating from the University of Texas, he began his career as a freelance still photographer. Mark then moved quickly into writing, producing, and directing. Working with Doctor Denton Cooley and others, he created programming at Houston's world-renowned Saint Luke's Episcopal Hospital. In 1980 he formed MC Productions, which gave way to a partnership with Cinema Ventures, and the co-production of the feature film Billy Galvin, starring Karl Malden.
In 1986, Clark established MC Lighting & Production Services. This company helped shape the look of international documentaries, television series, local and national commercials, feature films, and other motion picture and video projects. In 2005, MC Lighting & Production Services acquired the lighting and grip assets of Plus 8 Digital and formed The Lighting Zone, Inc. The new company provided lighting and grip equipment for projects throughout the southwest of the United States.
While managing The Lighting Zone, Clark continued to work as a lighting director, helping to shape the look of several children's series, including Wisharoo Park. During this time, two IMAX films benefited from his talents, including winning Space Station 3D, narrated by Tom Cruise. In addition, his television work has ranged from national commercials for the corporate giant BP to the international television special Living in Space.
In 2017, Clark secured the general contract for lighting equipment and direction from the Fox Network and supported all the bumpers, interviews, and promos for Super Bowl LI. On the international front, he designed the lighting for an ongoing docudrama series shot in Saudi Arabia that chronicles the achievements of the Nabataean Empire.
Over the years, Clark has designed production facilities for Moffett Studios, Moser Media, Mattress Firm, HV Health & Safety, and the news desk lighting for television stations.
While lighting is his craft, producing feature films is his passion. He was the associate producer of the Sci-fi thriller Alternate Realities. In 2016, Clark co-produced the critically acclaimed drama Last Man Club. As an associate producer, he helped bring the comedy Pizza Joint to the screen in 2021.
Since 2015 Mark Clark has worked as a writer/producer to bring his action-adventure feature CUDA to a worldwide audience.
