AMC's new series "Showville" takes the premise of "America's Got Talent" and sends it on the road to Small Town America. Actor Alec Mapa and choreographer Lisette Bustamante are seeking undiscovered talent in small towns, and they quickly learned that the percentage of talented people in small towns may be less than they realized.
The series premiere sent them to Holland, Michigan, where they found four acts put into a talent show for the community. The auditions were the familiar mix of terrible to worse that fans of talent shows have become used to, including one woman who was reading the lyrics to her song from her phone.

In a rather surprising development, Amazon plans to start selling fanfic. Really. The online retailer will let fanfic writers sell their Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars or Vampire Diaries-inspired stories and keep a portion of the sale. All three series are based on books brought to TV by Alloy Entertainment and Amazon says its working to get more properties into the mix. Now, anyone knows if they’ve banned crossovers? It would be fun to see how “A” and Gossip Girl would react to each other.
Andy Roddick will join Fox Sports Live, Fox Sports’ equivalent of SportsCenter, as a co-host.

It’s taken nearly a year, but TLC has picked up the Bukudroos-produced celebrity genealogy show Who Do You Think You Are?. The new season will include episodes focusing on Zooey Deschanel, Chris O’Donnell and Christina Applegate.

AMC announced today the lineup of eight towns across the country where talent will be scouted for its newest unscripted series, .Showville. (formerly titled .Road Show.). The series was created and executive produced by Laurie Girion and distributed internationally by Sony Pictures Television.
