The Canadian Film and Television Production Association (Cftpa), representing the interests of screen-based media companies engaged in the production/distribution of English-language TV programs, feature films and new media content in all regions of Canada, reports it is changing its name to the Canadian Media Production Association (Cmpa) "...to better reflect the multi-screen world and the future of our industry..."

TORONTO -- Rachel Fulford, director of original production at Canadian cable channel Showcase Television, said Wednesday that she is stepping down in the wake of CanWest Global's takeover of Showcase via its purchase of Alliance Atlantis Communications.
The decision by Fulford, who joined Showcase in 1998, follows Monday's news that Alliance Atlantis senior vp content John Gill was on the way out.
CanWest Global last week took possession of Showcase and 12 other Alliance Atlantis channels after it received final approval for its takeover from Canada's TV regulator.
Alliance Atlantis executives that departed prior to CanWest's final takeover include Norm Bolen, executive vp of content; Heather Conway, the broadcaster's head of public affairs; distribution chief Ted Riley; CFO David Lazzarato and CEO Phyllis Yaffe.
Among the few Alliance Atlantis executives to survive the recent cull is sales chief Errol Da-Re. He was named Tuesday as executive vp sales for a new broadcast entity that includes the 13 cable channels and CanWest Global's Global Television network.
CanWest acquired the Alliance Atlantis channels with U.S.
