- He has two children Samit (Born 2005) and Anvay (Born 2009).
- Dravid has been honoured with the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan award, India's fourth and third highest civilian awards respectively.
- He has faced 31258 balls, which is highest number of balls face by any player in test cricket. He has also spent 44152 minutes at the crease, which is highest time spent on crease by any player in test cricket.
- Dravid announced his retirement from Test and domestic cricket on 9 March 2012, after the 2011-12 tour of Australia. He was the second-highest run scorer and had taken the highest number of catches in Test cricket at the time of his retirement.

- When he scored a century against Bangladesh at Chittagong in 2004, he achieved a unique feat of becoming the first batsman to score a ton in each test playing nation active at that point of time, apart from becoming the jointly third batsman alongside Sachin Tendulkar and after South African Gary Kirsten and Australian Steve Waugh to score a century against each test playing nation.
- Has been involved in two 300 plus partnerships in ODIs. The first being a partnership of 318 with Saurav Ganguly against Sri Lanka during the 1999 World Cup at Taunton. The second being a 344 stand with Sachin Tendulkar against New Zealand at Hyderabad in 2000.
- Was the once the subject of a prank on the popular MTV show MTV BAKRA, where actress Sayali Bhagat pretended to be a die-hard admirer of Dravid and wanted to marry him at any cost. While initially oblivious to the happenings and terrified, when the team revealed itself on the spot, Dravid got a sigh of relief and mentioned he actually liked the experience.
- The wall of the stand dedicated in his honor at his home ground, Chinaswamy International Stadium Bangalore, has been made using 13,288 bricks. It is the same number of runs he scored in test cricket. Also engraved on the wall are three C's expanding to COMMITMENT, CONSISTENCY, CLASS, 3 of which happen to be Dravid's guiding principles towards batting.
- Took over as the full-time coach of the Indian National Cricket Team in November 2021.
- Australian pacer Brett Lee paid his tributes to Dravid quoting "If you can't get along with Dravid, you are struggling in life" while Lee's long-term skipper and batting legend Steve Waugh advised the opposition that "If you can't get Dravid out within the first 15 minutes of his arrival at the crease, better try dismissing the rest of the team".

- In a controversial interview in 2011, Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akhtar stated that Dravid was more of a match saver but never a match winner or a finisher. Dravid politely rebuffed Akhtar's remarks, quoting everyone is entitled to his own opinion. However, senior Pakistani cricket greats like Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Zaheer Abbas chastised Akthar, commenting that the number of matches Dravid had won for India in both tests and ODIs was more than the matches Akthar had appeared in. Surprisingly, when Dravid retired from international cricket the following year, Akhtar paid rich tributes to Dravid, calling him the most technically correct batsman he had ever played against.
