If you've ever spent a Sunday afternoon brunch at a friend's apartment from which you desperately want to escape, you'll get a strange sense of déjà vu watching Dean Matthew Ronalds' low-budget drama. Depicting such an event taking place in a Brooklyn apartment (we know that because of the terrific views seen from the window) involving two married couples, Fourplay comes across as a claustrophobic cinematic exercise.
I say "exercise" because, as if aware that the screenplay he scripted along with Emanuela Galliusi (one of the film's stars) and Francesco Plazza was desperately thin, Ronalds shot the 77-minute film in...

It starts with the mixture of excitement and fear the result of a positive pregnancy test delivers before quickly moving into an impromptu hallway dance that ends with a crash of glass and a smack across the face. I’m not sure a better beginning to Dean Matthew Ronalds’ Fourplay would be possible as this sort of escalation of emotion and temper courses through the whole like a live wire of volatility threatening to derail what should be a joyous brunch between friends. In one moment these two couples consisting of hosts Tom (Bryan Greenberg) and Anna (Tammy Blanchard) opposite guests Joe (Dominic Fumusa) and Susan (Emanuela Galliussi) are in a celebratory mood and the next sees them frowning in silence, wondering how they’ve ever stayed together this long.
And at the center of this afternoon is the fact that Anna pregnant — news she doesn’t share with her husband.

Brian Ronalds and Dean Ronalds, more commonly known as the Ronalds Brothers, who produced the Brian Skiba directed Dirty Little Trick (a film that stars Michael Madsen and Dean Cain, whose trailer we had the world exclusive of) which is finally hitting Us stores on November 15th, have announced their next production, Sprawl.
Directed by Dean Ronalds, produced by Tom Malloy and Brian Ronalds and written by Domenic Migliore, Sprawl is set to shoot in Hollywood, with casting underway now and a mid-October production start date in place. The brothers are very excited about Sprawl and “feel that this could be a break out film for them”.
Different from any of their previous movies: Netherbeast Incorporated, The Graves and Dirty Little Trick, Sprawl is a glimpse into the life of an outcast teenage girl that handles her deep seeded issues by turning the blade on herself and her body.

This past weekend After Dark's Horrorfest 4 rolled out the red carpet for writer/director Brian Pulido's entry into the genre film fest, The Graves, at the Beverly Center.
On hand for the event was Pulido as well as Graves stars Bill Moseley, Jillian Murray, Clare Grant, and Shane Stevens. Dread Central's Heather Wixson was on the scene to capture all the excitement from the carpet.
Synopsis:
"In The Graves, two inseparable sisters, Megan (Grant) and Abby (Murray) Graves, are taking one last wild road trip before Megan has to start a new job. The journey includes a trip through remote Arizona in search of a kitschy roadside attraction. Instead, Megan and Abby happen on Skull City Mine, a weather-beaten, abandoned mine town converted into a self-guided tour. What seems like a fun day in the sun turns into a mind-bending fight for survival against menaces both human and supernatural.

A little background on The Big Picture, in case you're fairly new: This site - or more correctly, its predecessor - began in 2002 as a companion to a movie show I used to do on radio. Remember radio, by the way? Whatever happened to it. Anyway, the show was on in Phoenix, so I was and remain pretty plugged in to the local film community here because of that.
Among the filmmakers I've met who have cut their teeth in the Valley of the Sun are Brian and Dean Ronalds. They started out making short films, graduated to the feature Netherbeast Incorporated (now available on DVD), and recently wrapped up a horror movie they produced called The Graves, directed by Brian Pulido and starring Tony Todd and Bill Moseley.

Berm-Tech Industries and its staff of cubicle-dwelling vampires are once again open for business. Just out on DVD this week is Netherbeast Incorporated, the quirky horror/comedy feature debut of the Phoenix-based filmmaking team of Dean and Brian Ronalds.
Based on the brothers’ short film The Netherbeast Of Berm-tech Industries, Inc., produced in 2004 and a favorite on the festival circuit, the full-length adaptation (scripted, like the short, by Bruce Dellis) stars Darrell Hammond as the company boss who kills an employee with a stake through the heart, forgetting he’s a vampire himself. Steve Burns, Jason (The Tripper) Mewes and Dave (Postal) Foley play three of the undead employees, while Amy Davidson and Judd Nelson are two human outsiders who discover the company secret; Robert Wagner also appears (in a flashback) as President James Garfield. Though we showed you guys a new and improved poster for Netherbeast Incorporated not too long ago, the film’s DVD distributors, Well Go USA, decided to go with the older art for the DVD cover. I guess we can’t really complain, though, cause at least this much-loved horror/comedy is finally making its way home soon.
Fangoria got word from Well Go about what will be featured on the DVD as well; check it out:

Dean and Brian Ronalds had been making short films for a few years when they were handed a script to a three-minute flick called Netherbeast of Berm-Tech Industries. That short, written by Bruce Dellis, turned into a much longer script that the brothers decided would be their first feature film. Now, their horror comedy Netherbeast, Incorporated is getting a limited theatrical release beginning this weekend as well as a domestic DVD push later this year.
We sat down with the Ronalds Brothers last week as they were editing another film they're producing, The Graves, written and directed by comic book author Brian Pulido.
I remember talking to you guys about the short film years ago at the Phoenix Film Festival, and then I saw this movie about 18 months ago. So how long has Netherbeast been brewing?
Dean Ronalds: From making the short to this point in time, probably four years.
