Exclusive: The extraordinary exploits of convicted fraudster Russell King will be recounted in King of All Cons (Wt), a feature doc that has just gone into production. Emmy-nominated Dash Pictures is making the film with Sky in the UK and Matthew Lorenzo Productions, the indie set up by the titular Lorenzo, a former Sky Sports presenter.
Individuals who King duped included Sven Goran Eriksson, the one-time England soccer team manager, as part of an infamous scheme to buy Notts County, the world’s oldest soccer club. The film will use a mix of archive and interviews with the main players on the story, including Eriksson — who disclosed a terminal cancer diagnosis in January. Former England soccer star Sol Campbell also features.
King’s other nefarious exploits include negotiating a deal to extract all of North Korea’s mineral reserves. The action in the film moves between Bahrain, North Korea, London’s plush Dorchester Hotel,...

Former England soccer team manager Sven-Goran Eriksson will continue to contribute to a Prime Video documentary about his life and career, despite his terminal cancer diagnosis.
75-year-old Eriksson has been working with Whisper production company for the last 18 months on a “warts and all” documentary, tracing his career from Italian club Lazio to becoming the first non-British manager of England in 2001.
The Times reports that the doc may be aired midway through the year, although Eriksson will have the final say on the transmission date. The paper quotes a source saying that, despite the football pro’s deteriorating health, there is a lot of humour in the piece, as “Sven is a very funny guy.”
As well as his footballing achievements, the documentary will chart Eriksson’s high-profile life away from the pitch, including relationships with long-term girlfriend Nancy Dell’Olio and British TV presenter Ulrika Jonsson.

Rabat, Aug 11 (Ians) Morocco on Thursday parted ways with national team coach Vahid Halilhodzic just three months before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The country’s football federation (Frmf) said the decision was taken because of disagreements on how to prepare the Atlas Lions for the finals.
“Given the differences and divergent visions between the Royal Moroccan Football Federation and national coach Vahid Halilhodzic on the best way to prepare the national football team for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, the two parties decided to separate by mutual consent,” a statement from the Frmf said.
The 60-year old Halilhodzic took charge of the North Africans in August 2019. He led the side to the quarter-finals of this year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon and then secured World Cup qualification in March following a 5-2 aggregate win over Dr Congo.

The programme, which comes after Rooney broke the national team's goalscoring record against Switzerland yesterday, will air on Monday, October 5.
It will cover Rooney's journey from humble beginnings all the way through to his success on the pitch for England, as well as his thoughts on the future and his relationship with Coleen.

At half-time on Saturday at St James’ Park, Swansea City manager Garry Monk made one slight adjustment to his side, dropping Jack Cork slightly deeper and giving Jefferson Montero more of a licence to head forward, and suddenly the game was over for Newcastle United. John Carver’s plan unravelled before his very eyes – and he did not have the tactical nous to be able to claw the match back, as the Magpies succumbed to a 3-2 loss that left them just five points above the dropzone with four games remaining.
Unfortunately, as much as Toon fans may have wanted local-boy John Carver to succeed, it simply hasn’t happened – and, for the good of the club he loves, it is time he stepped aside and let someone else try to salvage something from the wreckage that is Newcastle United right now and keep the Magpies up.

So here we go again; the biennial torture that is England football tournament qualifying matches is fast approaching and the average England football fan is no doubt preparing him or herself for what is to come. Finger nails untrimmed ready for biting – check! Lucky underpants on – check! Big brolly in case it rains on the side-lines – well perhaps not. Anyway at the end of the next 2 games against Moldova and Ukraine we should have a clearer picture on whether our plucky boys will be spending the summer of 2014 on business in Rio de Janeiro or on the golf course in the Algarve.
But why does it have to be this way? Surely England have breezed through other World Cup qualifying campaigns without a care, safe in the knowledge that their participation in the forthcoming FIFA jamboree was all but guaranteed with a handful of matches still to be played.

Ex-Daily Mirror editor shown in documentary telling Charlotte Church of stories which came about due to mobile phones
Footage of former Daily Mirror editor Piers Morgan telling Charlotte Church how "a spate of stories" resulted from the hacking of mobile phones will be broadcast in a Channel 4 documentary presented by Hugh Grant.
The conversation will feature in Taking on the Tabloids, a documentary on the future regulation of the press presented by Grant, who is fronting Hacked Off's campaign for stricter regulation of the press. Taking on the Tabloids will be broadcast on Channel 4 at 8pm on Wednesday night.
Church's conversation with Morgan was filmed in 2003, when the then 17-year-old singer was invited to address the Oxford Union where she called for a privacy law to protect under-18s.

Piers Morgan has denied ordering any illegal hacking when he was editor of London's Daily Mirror tabloid—but now the paper is being sued by some who claim otherwise. Sven-Göran Eriksson, former coach of the English national football team; retired football player Garry Flitcroft; actress Shobna Gulati; and Abbie Gibson, who used to work as a nanny for David Beckham's family, have filed suit against Trinity Mirror, claiming that reporters from the company's papers hacked their voice-mail accounts. "There might not be a documentary smoking gun, but we will show there is a smoking bullet, the consequence of the actions," an attorney for the group, Mark Lewis (who also represented...

Nancy Dell'Olio has said that she decided to "play" the media game after realising that she couldn't fight it. The Italian lawyer became a prominent figure on the celebrity circuit thanks to her relationship with former England football coach Sven-Göran Eriksson. Now competing on the current series of Strictly Come Dancing, Dell'Olio said that she does not know why people are interested in her. "Journalists tell me, 'People love you and they want to know more about you'," she told The Guardian. "So probably it's part of my destiny. It was not my choice to be in the public eyes, it just happened. "I've something that usually people in the public eyes have, something you can't capture. People ask you, what is it, 'Why are we fascinated by you?'. I can't tell you. Some people are just born with (more)...

From opening chase to brilliant climax, Fred Cavayé's gripping follow-up to Pour elle is well worth travelling for
One of Time Out's movie critics, David Jenkins, began a piece last week by asking: "How far would you travel to see a film?" In his case, the answer was a day trip to Lille to see The Tree of Life, Terrence Malick's Palme d'Or winner. Owing to some dispute over distribution rights, it wasn't being shown in Britain, and the Calais multiplex was only screening a French-dubbed version. Fortunately, the rights problem has been resolved and the picture opens here on 8 July.
