With Major League Wrestling making its debut tonight on Reelz, the ad-supported cable channel hopes to recreate the impossible. Launched in 2006 as Reelz Channel, then best known as home to Leonard Maltin’s “Maltin on Movies” and hosting the Visual Effects Society Awards, it went through many iterations — until recently, none terribly successful. A year ago, it ranked a dim 51 in cable primetime among its key demo for advertising, adults 25-54.
And then, a miracle. On July 22, 2022, Reelz premiered “On Patrol Live,” its revival of the format behind canceled A&e hit “Live P.D.” Today, Reelz is No. 19 and its year-to-year ratings rose a whopping 274 percent
“We thought it would do well… it just blew everything out of the water,” Steve Cheskin, SVP of programming at Reelz, told IndieWire. “And it’s pulling everything up with it.”

11 months after it ushered in a new era of influencer boxing, the Creator Clash is coming back for a second round. The creator-on-creator face-off will return to the Amalie Arena in Tampa on April 15, 2023.
The organizer of the Creator Clash will return to compete in its main event. Last year, commentary creator iDubbbz (real name Ian Jomha) debuted in the ring and lost on points to Doctor Mike. For Creator Clash 2, iDubbbz will take on another opponent with boxing experience: Alex Wassabi. The vlogger was set to fight Ksi last year but withdrew before the bout took place.
Creator Clash 2 will offer entertainment far beyond its main card. Some participants from the first Creator Clash — including YodelingHaley, Arin Hanson, and Nathan ‘Dad’ Barnatt — will take on new challengers as part of the undercard. The Asylum — the independent film and TV studio known for its Sharknado franchise and zombie series Z Nation — celebrated its 25th anniversary with a bash on the Santa Monica Pier on Wednesday night.
But instead of helping blow out the candles, revelers were forced to deal with blown fuses as the Pier suffered a power outage for close to 15 minutes. When The Hollywood Reporter arrived on the scene at 9:30 p.m., the entire Pier was pitch black while hundreds of guests remained in place at the event, which took over Pacific Park, the oceanside amusement park.
Guests were still allowed to check-in to the event as security suggested the outage would be temporary. And they were right. Shortly before 9:40 p.m., the lights came back on and guests like Bai Ling, Kristanna Loken, Geoff Meed, Cindy Busby, Carlos Ramirez, Terry Woodberry,...

"Too late... we're here!" Time for a killer sci-fi short! Or maybe you've already watched but are just reading the post now? The Speed of Time is a funny time travel short directed by William J. Stribling, and written by Russ Nickel & Stribling. John Hennigan stars as Johnny Killfire, a future cop who must go back in time and team up with his former self in order to stop the TimeBorgs from getting their hands on an app that could break the space-time continuum by delivering pizzas into the past... before they were even ordered. This also stars Sean Marquette, Alex Jennings, and Nic Nemeth. And features "The Speed of Time", an original song by Dylan Glatthorn. It doesn't reinvent the time travel wheel, but it is an amusing sci-fi action short with one killer Killfire performance that makes it a tasty "steaming hot belly bomb." This is a fun one.

David Glasser’s 101 Studios has bought North American distribution to the long-shelved “The Current War,” starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Michael Shannon.

A few details have emerged for Patrick Fogarty's The 27 Club. This title, from Cleopatra Entertainment, looks at a strange, cultural myth. Why have so many celebrities died at 27? Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morris and many more have all dropped dead (usually due to excess) at this pivotal age. The film even has a guest appearance, from the grave, of Amy Winehouse. And, The 27 Club stars: Maddisyn Carter (The Devil's Carnival), Victoria De Mare (Killjoy Goes to Hell), Todd Rundgren and John Hennigan plays Jim Morrison. All of these actors come together in one of this year's more bizarre films. A preview of the film's upcoming launch is hosted here. The official synopsis talks of a singer-songwriter and a journalism student. Both characters are exploring the dark truth behind "The 27 Club." Their journey leads them into a world they may not be able to escape.

I have watched almost all 37 seasons of “Survivor” and know how it works. There are players who are obvious threats to your gameplay, ones that you can ignore for only so long before they endanger your chance winning the title of “Sole Survivor” and those million buckeroos.
But this one hurt. And I doubt I am the only one who feels that way.

“I do get recognized a lot,” Christian Hubicki confesses to Gold Derby when we proclaim him to be the face of “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” on the morning after he was eliminated. “I try to keep the changes as small and as manageable as possible,” he continues. “I started my new job. I’m teaching a class. I don’t talk about ‘Survivor’ during the class. I just kind of do my business. I try to sort of treat it like it’s normal.” Listen to our exit interview above.

“I don’t have any regrets,” Gabby Pascuzzi tells Gold Derby the morning after she was eliminated in Wednesday’s loved ones episode of “Survivor: David vs. Goliath.” After Gabby decided to betray her nerdmance partner Christian Hubicki, Christian got wind of the plan so he used his hidden immunity idol to save himself. Thus, Gabby was eliminated with only two votes cast against her (from Angelina Keeley and Mike White). Listen to our exit interview above.

“I felt an eerie feeling today,” admitted Gabby Pascuzzi, the sixth jury member of “Survivor: David vs. Goliath,” during her Ponderosa video (watch above). Gabby was voted out of Wednesday’s episode after she tried — and failed — to make a “big move” by blindsiding her closest ally Christian Hubicki. After Davie Rickenbacker told Christian about Gabby’s master plan, Christian decided to use his hidden immunity idol. Thus, the five votes for Christian did not count and Gabby ended up going home with only two votes cast against her from Angelina Keeley and Mike White.

Despite having so much power in “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” that the other castaways all called him the Godfather, Carl Boudreaux was eliminated at the end of the two-hour episode on Wednesday, November 28. The fourth jury member of “Survivor: David vs. Goliath,” Alec Merlino, was voted out unanimously on Wednesday, November 28 in an episode aptly titled “Tribal Lines Are Blurred.” Despite Alec’s last-ditch effort to convince his fellow Goliath allies to vote out Carl Boudreaux, aka the Godfather, the tribe decided to work together and eliminate the biggest physical threat in the game. “We bust this game wide open” was an ominous prospect posed by Nick Wilson last week at tribal council on “Survivor: David vs. Goliath.” Over the past two weeks the original David tribe members have been able to overcome being down in the numbers to level the score against the dominant Goliath tribe. This numbers swing could blur the lines between the original tribes and begin a whole new chapter in this game of Biblical proportions.

“It was a little frustrating,” Dan Rengering tells Gold Derby about being eliminated on “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” after Carl Boudreaux used his idol nullifier to make Dan’s hidden idol worthless. “You think when you have an idol you’re golden, you’re gonna be good to go. Wednesday’s ninth episode of “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” ended with the Davids mastering the art of hidden advantages in order to even out the numbers 5-5 against the challenge-dominating Goliaths. After Nick Wilson stole Alison Raybould‘s vote (much to her chagrin) and Carl Boudreaux nullified Dan Rengering‘s idol, the Davids were able to vote Dan out with a clear majority despite Alec Merlino and Kara Kay ultimately voting against fellow Goliath member Angelina Keeley.
Alec and Kara’s votes are key heading in to the next episode because it lays bare the fracture that has always existed in the Goliath tribe and there’s no chance Angelina is going to accept those votes against her calmly. Wednesday’s eighth episode of “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” delivered another epic tribal with one of the season’s most unexpected endings. At one point in the clip Nick Wilson is shown during a confessional holding a piece of parchment that’s been super-imposed with the phrase “The Surprise Ending” surrounded by question marks. “Well, what is it?” he asks while giggling gleefully. Usually the only time the castaways receive parchment is when they find a clue or a hidden idol,...

“This is the most pissed I’ve been,” harrumphs Dan Rengering during the latest deleted scene from “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” about building the new merge shelter with his fellow brochacho John Hennigan. “There’s so many people, and we’re the only ones working,” he complains as the other 11 castaways of the combined David and Goliath tribe, dubbed “Kalokalo,” are off socializing and having fun. SEEElizabeth Olson (‘Survivor’ 37) exit interview: Plan to oust Angelina backfired thanks to Carl, ‘my nail in the coffin’ [Podcast]
As S.W.A.T. officer Dan explains in a confessional, “Today everybody feels like we need a shelter but nobody wants to do it, so it’s just me and John working on it. Me and him are the only ones tying up the tarp and chopping bamboo, while everybody else is gallivanting and wanting to have a good time.”

Wednesday’s merge episode of “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” was officially one for the books as it featured new strategies, alliance double-dealing, backstabbing, gossip-spreading and a whole lot of drool-inducing messiness. And yet amidst all of the back and forth, the newly merged Kalokalo tribe came together to unanimously oust Elizabeth Olson. But before she went, Elizabeth was sure to throw Angelina Keeley‘s shadiness under the bus to her fellow Goliaths. “I apologize to my tribe. I wasn’t trying to be sneaky!” Angelina Keeley declared during Wednesday’s contentious “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” tribal council. (Read our episode recap here.) After Elizabeth Olson spilled the beans that Angelina had told her she was going home, Angelina’s Goliath tribe mates saw that as a sign of her trying to secure a jury vote. Angelina vehemently denied the accusation, but as host Jeff Probst surmised, “Whether you meant it or not is a little irrelevant. People have a perception.” Will Angelina’s mistake come back to haunt her? Vote in our poll below.
