If you listen to the second bar of the second verse on the third song from DaBaby’s second album of 2019, he asks what should be a simple question: “Aye, when you gon’ switch the flow?” He says it in a mocking tone, impersonating the thousands of people who have pondered that singular question for an entire calendar year. One bar later, he wryly answers. “I thought you’d never ask.”
When asked once again in person, DaBaby makes it clear he does not like the question, even if he’s heard it before.

No shirts were taken off, twisted around hands and spun like helicopters at NBA All-Star Weekend in Charlotte ... and Petey Pablo is pissed. Remember, Pablo's 2001 hit, "Raise Up," is all about North Carolina pride -- and the NBA even used the song in an All-Star game promo. But Pablo, who's from Nc, wasn't invited to perform during the Asw festivities -- and it's clear he's upset about it, calling out the NBA, TNT and the Charlotte Hornets on social media.

Empire has had plenty of unpredictable cameos, but none more random than when North Carolina rapper Petey Pablo (famous for 2004's "Freek-a-Leek" and his "sick reputation for handling broads") popped up on last night's episode as Lucious Lyon's musical collaborator behind bars. It's through Clyde (Pablo) that Lucious channels his inner Gucci Mane and drops a diss track called "Snitch Bitch" from jail (with some help from The Wire's Bubbles). Turns out Pablo's Empire guest-spot was a decade in the making. Here's the story Pablo told Raleigh's Wral: The two ran into each other at a Hustle & Flow premiere party back in 2005, where Howard had apparently lost his wallet. Pablo kindly loaned Howard $200, then never heard from him again ... until Pablo received a call from Howard out of the blue earlier this year offering to repay him. Instead of simply Venmo-ing him the cash, Howard invited...

Jumping rope—one of the most timeless and universal forms of play—has moved off the sidewalks and onto the stage, as can be seen in the 2007 independent documentary film Doubletime.
Brought to America by early Dutch settlers, jumping rope became a popular form of urban street play and gained visibility in the early 1980s when it was associated with hip- hop music and culture. But modern competitive rope-jumping is entirely different, having grown from a child’s game into a world-wide sport. Today, it features an astounding mix of acrobatics and speed that can be seen in a handful of respected international competitions.

The relationships between rappers and presidents have always been tenuous at best. Or at least so we thought. This week, there have been two incidents that have united the worlds of hip-hop and presidential politics in ways that nobody really saw coming. Earlier this week, George W. Bush declared that the moment that Kanye West announced "George Bush doesn't care about black people" during a telethon was the lowest point of his presidency. West responded in typical fashion, saying that he related to Bush because they both have been under the same kind scrutiny.

Petey Pablo -- The Gun In My Bag Wasn't Mine!
Petey Pablo -- the platinum rapper who allegedly tried to smuggle a gun into an airport on 9/11 -- claims there's actually a heroic reason why the pistol turned up in his luggage.
As we previously reported, Pablo -- real name Moses Barrett III -- was arrested on Saturday at Rdu Airport in North Carolina after a Tsa officer found a Smith & Wesson pistol in his carry-on.
But Petey's rep tells us the rapper can explain -- claiming the gun actually belongs to one of his friends. And last month, Petey learned that said friend planned to use the pistol to "do something crazy" ... so Petey stepped in and literally took the weapon away.
The rep tells us Petey stashed the gun in a luggage bag so his friend wouldn't find it -- and when he was asked to hop on a last-minute flight to L.
