The Survivor Season 44 premiere showed a lot of promise for the fourth installment of the reality competition series’ “new era,” but since then, fans have pointed out flaws in the show’s format. There are too many advantages and idols (and fake idols) at play in the game, and only women have been voted out. But hopefully, things will turn around soon, and by the time the finale arrives, we’ll be talking about how great Survivor Season 44 was.

Geo Bustamante couldn’t have been more excited to have secured himself the Knowledge Is Power advantage on “Survivor 43,” despite what he already (sorta) knew to be true: it’s a curse! Upon getting the advantage in Episode 5 he said, “This is what I came here for! I came to ‘Survivor’ to get an idol or to get an advantage. I’ve never seen anybody use the Knowledge Is Power successfully, but it’s a very powerful tool.” He went on to say he’d save it because he was certain he wouldn’t be voted out that night. Less than 15 minutes later, Geo was the fifth person voted out of the game.
With Geo’s finding of the advantage and subsequent elimination, he became the third of three players to hold the Knowledge Is Power advantage and not use it successfully. For Geo, finding the advantage wasn’t the curse,...

For the first time since Season 1, the winner of “Survivor 41” will be announced on the island. Let that sink in. There won’t be a cheering studio audience, no emotional family member hugs, not even a live reunion with all of the castaways. Jeff Probst spoke candidly with TVLine about the decision to scrap the live element of the finale and do everything in Fiji this time around, with one of his biggest takeaways being that he misses the “big energy” of having fans in attendance.
“There are pros and cons to both,” said the four-time Emmy-winning host about a live finale vs. a pre-taped finale. “I definitely miss the big energy of the live audience and seeing all the family members of our players. That kind of excitement is very unique because it’s more of an event. But what was really cool about revealing the winner in the jungle was the intimacy.

When we offered up our first power rankings for “Survivor 41,” Jeff Probst had just dropped the merge challenge bombshell on the remaining 12 castaways. Then, Shan Smith had positioned herself to win with multiple advantages in her pocket, the foundation of a powerful alliance, and was getting a heavily favorable edit every episode. Now, after Wednesday’s tenth episode, Shan is out and only seven are left to claim the million dollars.
Below we roll out our second “Survivor 41” power rankings of the season, and with our previous frontrunner sitting on the jury, control of the game is up for grabs. Ricard Foye may have made the power move and Deshawn Radden might be the snake, but is there a bigger threat lurking in the shadows? Evvie Jagoda is happy with her “Survivor” experience, but isn’t exactly pleased with how she went out. In this week’s Ponderosa video, Evvie discusses being voted out of the game and how she still isn’t quite sure how it went down. “I really wanna know what happened,” says Evvie, with only Xander Hastings voting with her in the end. Evvie adds that she’s not a fan of the twist of splitting the merged tribe into two teams and having them go to two separate Tribal Councils. “I hate that twist. I’ve always hated that twist.” Watch the full “Survivor 41” Ponderosa video above.
Evvie explains that it was tough to move forward once the tribes merged, considering how much of a minority position she was in with her Yase tribe. “I could never really get my legs under me at the merge and if they had let me get one more,...

Naseer Muttalif was on the wrong end of a blindside on this week’s episode of “Survivor 41,” being voted out with a hidden Immunity Idol in his pocket. In a new Ponderosa video filmed after Naseer left the game, the sales manager delves into why he did not play his idol. “It was a huge blindside,” he admits, adding that he trusted Shan Smith more than he should have. “That was my problem.” Watch the “Survivor 41” Ponderosa video above.
First juror Tiffany Seely asked Naseer why he did not play his idol, and as it turns out, he simply thought the numbers were on his side to pull off a clean vote against Heather Aldret. “That’s why they call it blindside, Mama,” he quipped. Heading into the ninth episode of “Survivor 41,” both of the Yase turtles (Xander Hastings and Evvie Jagoda) knew they were on the outs as the other eight players had come for them repeatedly. Host Jeff Probst shocked the group of 10 when he split them into two groups and said both would eliminate someone at their own tribal councils. Did Xander, Naseer or Shan finally use their hidden immunity idols?

The jury phase of “Survivor 41” began in Episode 8, with 47-year-old teacher Tiffany Seely being booted by the majority. Tiffany was part of the three-person Yase alliance with Evvie Jagoda and Xander Hastings, both of whom were protected by winning immunity and having an immunity idol, respectively. This made Tiffany the easy target to take out, but according to a new poll released just after last week’s episode, fans don’t think she should have been eliminated.
Shan Smith earned the most votes for who Gold Derby readers thought should have been voted out, at a whopping 43% of the tally. Moments after being eliminated from “Survivor 41,” cameras caught up with Tiffany Seely as she made the trek to her new residence at the jury house, otherwise known as Ponderosa. She immediately started trashing her former players for voting her out instead of the three people who had hidden immunity idols, Xander Hastings, Naseer Muttalif and Shan Smith. “The dumbest, stupidest ‘Survivor’ move ever is to leave all of those people sitting in there with idols,” she declared. “And they take me out. Is that like the most stupidest thing you’ve heard in your entire life?” Watch the “Survivor 41” Ponderosa video above.

“This was the best episode of Season 41 by far,” exclaims Gold Derby’s Marcus James Dixon after “Survivor’s” chaotic merge. He joins Kevin Jacobson and Matt Noble in our weekly Gold Derby “Survivor 41” slugfest. Matt adds, “Jeff Probst has described this season as a monster you have to outrun. This episode encapsulated that idea. The monster arrived on the island. We saw a lot of mistakes from a lot of people because that’s what happens when a monster comes.” Watch the lively discussion on Season 41, Episode 7, titled “There’s Gonna Be Blood,” in our video recap above.
The episode opened with Erika Casupanan making the decision to smash an hourglass, reversing the results of the previous episode’s immunity challenge. With more than half of the castaways immune, there were few places to hide. The new alliance of Liana Wallace, Shan Smith, Danny McCray and Deshawn Radden targeted Evvie Jagoda.

Episode 7 of “Survivor 41” was one for the ages. With seven of the 12 remaining castaways safe from elimination, it was utter chaos figuring out who to send out. After advantages played, new alliances forged and a wildly unpredictable Tribal Council, it was confident law student Sydney Segal who met her demise in a very close 5-4-3 vote. In a new poll posted last week, Gold Derby asked readers to pick who they thought deserved to be eliminated this episode, and the people have spoken.
Sydney earned the most votes for who users thought deserved to be booted, amassing 27% of the vote. Among other castaways eligible to be voted out, Deshawn Radden earned the next highest amount of votes at 9%. The Yase alliance of Evvie Jagoda, Tiffany Seely and Xander Hastings conspired to target Deshawn and placed three votes on him, but they couldn’t convince anyone else to join them.

On “Survivor,” there’s nothing worse than being outnumbered at the merge, and that’s exactly what’s happened to the Yase three, aka Xander Hastings, Evvie Jagoda and Tiffany Seely. When their fourth Yase member, Liana Wallace, ditched them for the Campout alliance, that left the yellow trio with a huge numbers disadvantage on a merged tribe of 12 people. At the end of last week’s hectic tribal council, Sydney Segal was sent packing as she received one more vote than Evvie, but can the Yase three survive yet another week?

The merge episode of “Survivor 41” was one for the record books. For the first time in the show’s two decades on the air, six people won an immunity challenge and were told by Jeff Probst that they were safe, only to have their immunity undone by an hourglass twist that reversed time. Flash-forward to tribal council, where one of those people, Sydney Segal, ended up being voted out. Needless to say, she’s not a fan of the hourglass twist.
“I mean, it’s not even a twist — it’s a lie,” Sydney says in her exit interview with EW. “We’re told one thing and then something else happens. And I think it achieved exactly what it intended to achieve. That challenge was meant for strong players to win. And then that hourglass twist was intended to get a strong player out of the game. Episode 7 of “Survivor 41” ended in the most dramatic Tribal Council of the season to date. After Erika Casupanan smashed the hourglass that resulted in the winners of last week’s challenge becoming vulnerable, it was a mad scramble to determine who to vote out, with multiple advantages played and past alliances betrayed. Sydney Segal was the unfortunate victim of a chaotic Tribal Council, going out in a very close 5-4-3 vote. But did the merged tribe ultimately make the right call?

On last week’s sixth episode of “Survivor 41,” Jeff Probst dropped the bombshell of the merge challenge on the 12 remaining castaways, resulting in half of them believing themselves safe at the next tribal council and half of them facing an individual immunity challenge to determine their fate. The not-quite-merge set the stage for Erika Casupanan, chosen by a majority of her former Luvu tribe mates to go to Exile Island, to possibly “change history” by flipping the script on the merge challenge and switching the immune to vulnerable, and the vulnerable to immune.
But before we see Erika makes her historic decision on the seventh episode, it’s time to assess where every player is at in the game and rank their chances at becoming the 41st sole Survivor. Below we roll out our first power rankings of the season, taking into account strategy, relationships, and of course the notorious “winner’s edit.

At the end of last week’s episode of “Survivor 41,” Jeff Probst offered a never-before-seen twist to the current inhabitant of Exile Island, Erika Casupanan. If she wanted to “go back in time and change history,” she could reverse the results of the merge challenge by smashing a prop hourglass. That would result in the winners of the challenge now being up for elimination and the losers now being safe. Since Erika was eligible to be voted out, viewers assumed she’d have no choice but to use the hammer when the show returned for Episode 7.
In fact, our reader’s poll results were fairly decisive when asked whether Erika should smash the hourglass. Here they are:

The Yase tribe takes a break from all the drama during Wednesday’s fourth episode of “Survivor 41” when they discover hundreds of baby turtles that have just been hatched. “You have to see this,” Tiffany Seely excitedly tells her tribe mates Liana Wallace, Xander Hastings and Evvie Jagoda. “You gotta hurry. To compare, Luvu was still strong at six people and Ua had five castaways as they blindsided Sara Wilson in the first episode. So which tribe lost the immunity challenge during Wednesday’s episode and had to visit with Jeff Probst at tribal council? And did anyone use their shot in the dark this week?

“Survivor 41” fans are nearly united in who they think should have gotten the boot in Episode 2 instead of David Voce. The Yase tribe decided to take out the 34-year-old neurosurgeon at the end of last week’s episode, which surprised many viewers considering there were more obvious targets available to take out. Tiffany Seely struggled hard in the Immunity Challenge, arguably costing her tribe the win, but her allies, Evvie Jagoda and Liana Wallace, decided to stay strong with her and go along with Tiffany’s target, Voce.
But fans think Tiffany should have been voted out instead. In a poll posted the day after Episode 2, a whopping 89.29% of Gold Derby users voted that Yase should have booted Tiffany. This was likely influenced by Yase’s continued failure to win a challenge, with Tiffany being called a “liability” in that respect by Voce. Gold Derby users also thought Tiffany should...

The September 29 episode opened with Brad Reese telling the Shan Smith and Genie Chen he was spying on the boys. Later, when Evvie Jagoda was meeting Deshawn Radden from another tribe she spilled the goss about what was going down on her beach. And when Xander Hastings decided to take the Beware Advantage, he confided all the details to Evvie and David Voce, including the weird “butterflies” saying.

The second episode of “Survivor 41” was a bit of deja vu for the yellow Yase tribe. After losing the first Immunity Challenge and voting out Eric Abraham in the premiere, they went on to lose again in Episode 2 where their tribe of five went down to four. And once again, Tiffany Seely faced the chopping block only to be saved by her allies, Evvie Jagoda and Liana Wallace. Instead, the group chose to vote out 34-year-old neurosurgeon David Voce. But did Yase make the right call? Vote in our poll and then defend your choice in the comments section.
Xander Hastings is proving to be a player to watch as this episode included him finding the Beware Advantage, on top of the extra vote advantage he got in the premiere. But it came with a price, as he won’t be able to vote in any Tribal Councils until the...

“Survivor” returned last week with an epic, two-hour premiere in which host Jeff Probst welcomed 18 all-new guys players to Fiji. After the back-to-back eliminations of Yase’s Eric Abraham and Ua’s Sara Wilson, the remaining 16 castaways were ready for another round of outwitting, outplaying and outlasting. Did the Luvu tribe win immunity yet again, keeping their numbers strong at six? Or did Ua or Yase pull out their first immunity victory, thereby preventing their team from losing another player?

During the “Survivor” Season 41 premiere, the Ua tribe won fire-making supplies right out of the gate and had no trouble building a fire, thanks mostly to Jairus “Jd” Robinson. The other two tribes, Yase and Luvu, were punished and had to earn their tools by nominating two members each to carry ocean water back and forth to fill two large barrels. Yase chose Xander Hastings and David Voce, while Luvu went with Danny McCray and Deshawn Radden. What viewers didn’t see at home was just how hard Yase struggled to make fire, even after they earned their flint. Watch the “Survivor 41” deleted scene video above.
Xander and Tiffany Seely tried their hardest to make fire by repeatedly hitting the flint with their dull machete. “It’s just going to take some time,” Tiffany surmised. “That’s okay.” The video then hilariously cut to a shot of the moon at night,...

“Survivor 41” has arrived at long last, airing a supersized two-hour premiere on Wednesday night. The 18 new castaways helped kick off a whole new era of the show and by the end of the night, two of them saw their “Survivor” dreams die as they were voted out by their tribes. But did the tribes vote out the right players in the end? Vote in our Episode 1 polls below.

At Yase, two clear-cut options presented themselves when it came to figuring out who to send home first: Abraham or Tiffany Seely. Tiffany’s troubles began when Abraham gossiped behind her back about her not carrying her weight at the first challenge.

It’s been exactly 496 days since the last episode of “Survivor” aired on CBS … but who’s counting? Because of Covid-19, the granddaddy of all reality TV shows was not able to travel abroad to film in Fiji for over a year, but production finally commenced in April with Jeff Probst once again at the helm. For this 41st season, the Emmy-winning host has promised a much more dangerous and fast-paced game, with the 18 all-new castaways being initially separated into three tribes. So who was voted out at tribal council during the two-hour premiere?

While unveiling the “Survivor 41” cast announcement on Monday, host Jeff Probst proclaims, “I cannot remember a time when I’ve been this excited to launch a new season of ‘Survivor.'” The 41st season of CBS’s long-running reality TV show was delayed more than a year due to Covid-19, but it will finally hit the airwaves on Wednesday, September 22. “‘Survivor 41’ features a really likable group of savvy ‘Survivor’ players and they are in for the most intense, most difficult and most dangerous season we’ve ever done,” says the four-time Emmy-winning host. “We know we have the most loyal fans of any show on television, and we are pumped to bring them a new, exciting season of ‘Survivor!'”
